  • Quite a youthful color. Would have guessed 25 years younger. Delicious tobacco and damp soil nose, with hints of mint. Very tertiary as you would expect. Not particularly multi-faceted, but not a scent I'd ever get tired of.

Beautifully concentrated, with sweetness and acidity in remarkable harmony. Tannins detectable but fading, with no hint of drying out. Lovely long finish, but with a rather bitter metallic note which keeps the wine from a higher score.

Undoubtedly on a downslide, but very happy to taste this while it still has some thrills to offer.

Edit- day two, and the metallic finish has subsided. As is so often the case, the last glass was the best.

  • Another 61 that took my audiences into an abyss of unknown territory, obviously served blind. Guesses were all over the place, closest answers I got was a Margaux wine in the 70s.

Nose of feminine character, Margaux would be a good guess. Content was high in acidity, the fruits matured a bit more since I had the last bottle a couple of years ago. Definitely an atypical Pauillac style, fruits were matured and forward yet laid back as if time has paused indefinitely. Fun tasting! more tasting note in finewines.com.sg

  • Beautiful old, sweet Claret that still has plenty of life. There are notes of sweet cedar, cassis, lead pencil and leather. It is not overly complex but has a round, full, vinous palate and just a gentle grip on the finish providing savoury nuance.
