  • Opened in the morning, put back into the bottle and tasted after several hours of aeration in a carafe. A lot of layers, elegant intensity and concentration. Masculine Brunate character but not a school bully. More approachable than one might expect, probably thanks to the vintage and opening early enough. Black tea, figs, menthol, leather and orange blossom. Presence of slightly polished oak and mahogany but not to a disturbing degree. Obvious tannins but sufficient fruit and fresh acidity to provide (youthful) balance. Medium finish. Beautiful early drinking vintage, good potential for mid-term cellaring. Apparently one of the success stories of the vintage.
