Beautifully aged at 21 years. Almost dark brown on the color now with a big up front nose of tobacco and earth. Red cherry, strawberry, and dried plums with notes of spice, leather, smoke, stewed tomatoes, and red licorice. Mild acidity and not much tannin left. Great now and I would drink up at this point.

Il Poggione 2000 has been my "go to" Brunello for years. Regretfully, this wine, while still good, is on the decline. Brownish hues, with loads of sediment. Cherry flavors.

Dark fruit (cherry, slight blueberry, slight blackberry), earth, tobacco, spice, good acidity. Lingering finish. Really enjoyable.

Still good, but off from previous tastings. Potentially on the decline.
