Initially worried this bottle was going to be cooked due to an elevated cork - not so. Black cherry, plum, and no hint of maderization at all. Everything was as it should be. Fine, but not quite an elegant Clos Vougeot. Still good value. I would drink sooner rather than later as there is not too much structure left to resolve.

Cork stained to the top but came out in one piece. Good nose of sous bois and cherries but albeit a little muted. It has excellent purity of fruit, elegance, light minerals, good mouthfeel, resolved tannins and acidity on the finish. Sure it doesn't excite me with any exuberance or complexity but it is a very nice example of a mature Burg drinking at near its peak (but possibly starting to go downhill).
