Community Tasting Notes (7) Avg Score: 94 points

  • Dark and young looking. Black berries, duck liver nose. Plummy, rather indistinct low acid high tannin. Tasted blind, and the I would guess less than 10 years old. This will live FOR EVER.

  • 89. Cork showed signs of seepage; I am not sure how flawed the wine would be (there was a streak of seepage to top of the cork which stained half the cork red).

Nose: Dark red berries and musk. Not the best setting for picking up scents, but this was a a little monolithic on the nose, absent a musky note.

Palate: Red and black raspberry, leans red. Dense fruit, a bit stewed, on a medium bodied frame. Slightly lacking on acidity to match the density of sweet fruit. There was some tartness on the finish that provides some lift, but as I noted, I found this to be more astringency than cranberry over time. Structured balanced finish, but the musk presents itself here on the finish. Over time, a more alcoholic, astringent finish presented itself.

We did not finish the wine. Maybe a bad bottle, but I am frankly not sure. I won't risk it at this price point again, though. I suspect my score wouldn't suddenly jump to 93+ either.

  • Deep ruby, nose of dark fruit and berry. Sweet in mouth and there is grippy tannin to support the conc here, still need time but very perfumed dark fruit aroma and oak spice.
