91-92 I wasn’t expecting a huge amount and was worried this may be a little tired. From magnum the cork gave a real forceful pop with plenty of bubbles and energy.
A slightly soft and rich profile but not in the aged style and still pretty fresh. Initially thought the nose was slightly metallic but this quickly did become more melon with a touch of honey. Decent enough and still ticking along quite nicely.

The dinner with Jeannie Cho Lee (Taberna del Alabardero, Washington D.C.): Nicely mature nose displaying ripe yellow fruits, lemon curd, apple pie, biscuit with butter, sweet spices and mineral. Very good concentration, medium fine mousse, a hint of sweetness, good mineral presence, bright acidity and a medium to long sweet finish. The sweetness and ripe fruit remind me Cristal a bit. It displays nice complexity but not terribly refined. A nice way to start the evening.

2003 Louis Roederer brut. Kjeks, modne gule epler, noe nøtter. Mere kompleksitet i munn; litt røyk, sitrus, noe voks. Flott konsentrert champagne, lang ettersmak, drikker bra nå. 91

In the soft, sort of non-descript style of the house and the vintage; brioche galore, creamy texture, a wine for the ladies (if the ladies are not connaisseurs), but a decent glass, certainly, and fully mature with low acidity. Drink up.

Good. Not excellent. Fairly evolved. Easy drinking. Not much complexity. I dont sense much further potential for ageing, but this bottle might not have been up to par or just in a difficult fase.
