Tasted at a wedding, after a few drinks already! Weirdly has a nose of new car, synthetic rubber, and a rich butterscotch taste, some grip and bitterness. Long, rich. I liked this.

oh nom nom nom, I know 2000 isn't meant to be the best Sauterne vintage but this was rather nice - perhaps a little too much sugar for the acid. It was sitting between two stools - past the flush of youth and just beginning to show tertiary notes - I was picking up apricot jam, a little seville orange marmalade but also a touch of toffee apple and honey as well. Matched this to a simple apple and pear tart with a splash of cream. If I do this again I'll make sure that the tart has a little more sugar...

I can understand why some people rated this in the low 80's, but my palate disagrees. This is a Scotch-drinker's Sauterne. It has elements of butter orange peel and iodine on the palate and I like those notes. Could stand for a touch more acid, but still very interesting wine.

Opened this wine at Lao Beijing, Square 2 during a wine dinner. Theme of the evening: Bordeaux Wines from 2000.
Gold in colour, with notes of honeysuckle, lychee, apricot, mandarin oranges, tart and toffee.
Well integrated at this stage. Enjoyable with the dessert (honeydew sago) we had.

12/7/2017 - CellarBord Does not like this wine:
Lean, bitter, lacking fruit and acidity. This is well past its drinking window. The only thing memorable about dessert was the apple tart.
