Bottle no. 52945. Really quite nice. I get blackberry, Nicos gets cassis, with a very silky mouthfeel. Nicely resolved, good length. After dinner, the nose became even more expressive with classic scents of mature Bordeaux, Nicos says pencil sharpenings overlayed with bramble and cassis fruit. Drinking well now, and probably for a few more years. With Nicos, the Muir House, Kirkwall, Orkney Island, Scotland.

Purple core with ruby and garnet outer edges. Beautiful color. Plummy nose with black and blue fruits, dried red currants with a whiff of cedar. Excellent and classic. An elegant style but the fruit had faded a bit too much leaving mostly a tannic structure. Even so,finesse mixed with faded dried fruit flavors linger suggesting earlier consumption of this bottle would have been wise. Class still shows and it deserves at least a respectfull score, hence the 87. I would not hesitate to try another bottle and hopefully other tasters have found more stuffing to support the tannins.

Christie's Pre-Sale Tasting (Amsterdam): Still young and purple; closed, fruit, spices, marked acidity; powerful structure, perhaps a bit light; good length. Good future.

Monthly Tuesday group "The Dead Sparrow" #043: Margaux (By JS): In the bouquet dark berries, licorice, tobacco, graphite, stable and autumn impressions. On the palate some mushrooms, red berries and still good and juicy acidity.

No formal notes, quite ok but for example the 1989 is clearly better.
