Sappy with good citrus palate. Made in the quintessential Leflaive style, which is clean and elegant with a touch of cream. Great balance for the 2006 vintage. A very serious Bourgogne and easily the quality of a villages.
Laser-like precision coupled with palate-staining intensity of fruit yet the salinity is quintessentially Chablis. Very very concentrated in the context of the vintage and needless to say length was amazing as well. A wow wine.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
A little stemmy but either still very shut down or just plain austere. Nice red-fruited nose but just does not provide any pleasure at the moment with nothing particularly interesting about it.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
This has an underlying tension in it. Clean on the palate and very precise, almost like a Chablis. Not as fruit-forward as I would imagine but an excellent food wine.
Like the name, this shows distinct honeyed chrysanthemum notes on the ripe palate which does not sacrifice balance and freshness. Really quite an unique expression of Chardonnay and I like it very much.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Made in a very light style chez Drouhin this might not be easily identifiable as a Gevrey. The lightness accentuated some of the steminess but overall a very pure Pinot character dominates. This should be drinkable throughout its life.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
A little bit anonymous if guessed blind but again in the Drouhin style this was made in a light-handed way which emphasizes purity over extract. Some floral, some spices, some red fruits on the very elegant and silky palate. Will need age.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Sweet red cherries on the pretty nose and I was very impressed with the freshness and purity without excessive acidity poking out. A great value villages.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Very much true to the vintage which slightly unripe fruits which could not mask the stemminess. Decent intensity but I did not quite like the finish. Could not pinpoint why though.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Sure this was a riper than average Burg with a almost full bodied palate but surprisingly this was actually quite enjoyable. Extremely balanced despite the weight with plenty of Nuits character. Not flabby or New World-ish at all.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
As with the 2000 Chapelle-Chambertin chez Ponsot, this was clearly prematurely aged where you get all the secondary profiles like sweet tea and mushrooms. Drink up.
A pretty average Vosne villages with the prerequisite velvety texture and spices on the palate. Not bad for sure, but not outstanding at the moment especially for the lofty standards of this appellation.
Sure this was lacking in intensity and rather light but still this shows very decent Pinot character and if priced rightly I wouldn't hesitate to order this in a restaurant.
Not as interesting as the 2005 but this had a remarkably purity to it. Also the sweet red Pinot fruits is very Beaune. A little closed at the moment and I would think this needs a few more years to show its stuff.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
A stunning wine where the fruit and acidity are almost perfectly in balance. Great intensity on the clean and palate staining finish. There was just a little bit of oak poking out but I'm sure will be easily integrated over time. I am very impressed.

2009 Joseph Drouhin / Drouhin-Vaudon Chablis
France, Burgundy, Chablis
Not as ripe as I would imagine 2009 to be. This was quite light bodied, clean and yet with the Chablis steely character. Good for its level.

2007 Domaine Drouhin Oregon Pinot Noir Laurène

Very light in color and really quite balanced for an American Pinot. The pedigree is there. Very good effort.

2008 Domaine Drouhin Oregon Chardonnay Arthur
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills
Noticeably riper than its Old World counterparts, this was actually still quite balanced with very good flesh and honesty.

Austere but remarkably drinkable for a young Pommard. Quite seductive and delicious now. Not one for the long run.

Very young but you can feel the extract hiding in the background. Calm and elegant. This is a serious wine. Will be a bruiser in (many) years to come.
