Terroir-istes International - France, Burgundy, Echézeaux & Vougeot (Rodwell House): Very light crimson red, the nose is ethereal with an intense cherry perfume. The palate has amazing silkiness, purity and precision with mineral, plum, cherry, raspberry and strawberry. Refined, very elegant and poise, this Vougeot has fabulous layers of fruit, excellent concentration, a super soft downy texture and long finish. Extremely appealing, the mid-palate has ripe red fruits sprinkled in a few soft herbs and orange peel. Finely-grained silky tannins.

Burghound in Asia Grand Tasting (St. Regis, Singapore): A little bit anonymous if guessed blind but again in the Drouhin style this was made in a light-handed way which emphasizes purity over extract. Some floral, some spices, some red fruits on the very elegant and silky palate. Will need age.

Burghound in Asia Grand Tasting (St. Regis Hotel, Singapore): A very nice wine. Young, but with quite a lot of substance. Rather unexpectedly sweet on the nose, with slightly candied cherries alongside very Clos Vougeot notes of mint and bramble. The palate was rather more reserved with rich but not overtly sweet dark cherry flavours. It was nicely layered with a lot of substance, but nicely balanced and elegant in spite of its weight. A fine-boned tannin structure added a nice sense of firmness as the wine closed off in a long, meaty finish. It was very harmoniously integrated, which made it surprisingly approachable. This was a classy Clos Vougeot that should age really well.

Burghound in Asia Grand Tasting (St-Regis Hotel, Singapore): Tight, austere and earthy on the nose with underlying sweet dark frutis, deep and complex that continue to explode its mouth coating intensity on the palate with polish, firm tannin and elegance sweet, pure fruits to buffer. Surprisingly approachable and pure thanks to the perfect balance and harmonious. Fresh, juicy long finish. A refine Vougeot with finesse, my wine of the tasting. Buy - Yes.

Joseph Drouhin '08 Burgundy Preview (Specialty Imports): Very structured wine. Very similar aromatics as the other young '08's tried today with lots of red berried fruits, high acidity, and firm tannins. Touch of dill on this one. A bit of whole cluster stuff going on. Definitely structured enough to spend some time in bottle.
