Dull straw with green hues; waxy melon, lanolin, orange, tangerine, no hay, almond; richer palate, good viscosity, candied ginger, razor acidity; good, still very young.
Dark see through ruby; rose, structure, sour red cherry, meaty, a little shy on the nose; densely packed fruit on the palate, ripe strawberry, pure red cherry, tannic, not dissimilar to Nebbiolo; I called NSG; could use 5 years.
Dark crimson core with medium + extraction, larger crimson rim; mushroom, dusty, dried red cherry, roses, sandalwood, Slavonian oak; med+ body, spicy, cedar, menthol, medicinal, some alcohol on finish; good, still very young.
Dark garnet core with lighter rim; Brett, sweaty animal leather, cranberry, raspberry, spicy, currant, herbs de Provence, peppery; mineral, tannins in the back, leather; could age gracefully.
Medium extraction, garnet core with bright violet rim; sweet, black pepper, glycerin, violets, dark raspberry, elegant, young, perfumed; sweet purple fruit, some dark red almost candied fruit, good balance; very good.
Darker core with reddish violet rim; baby aspirin, raspberry, bread dough, tart cherry, black pepper; juicy, high acid, elegant, tart; tasty; was on Grenache until tasting it and then called it St. Joseph.
See through crimson with orange rim; dill, vanilla, menthol, strawberry, cherry, Rioja Reserva or higher, bay leaf, mint, sage, herbal, thinner layer of fruit; strawberry, cherry, good acid, oak is tolerable; nailed it on the dot.
Dark, extracted, with violet rim; ripe, purple fruit, softer, ripe, vanilla, raisin, prune; ripe, exotic, sweet; tasty in a very hedonistic way; called Alto Moncayo due to its modern slant.
Dark core, chocolaty, tawny edge showing lots of bricking; cigar, loamy soil, currant, some soy, leather; fat, aged, leather, some fruit, soy, ginger bread; old but hanging in there, still some sweet fruit.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, 5% Cinsault; dark core with lighter dull crimson rim; raw meat, meaty cherry, raspberry, cranberry; tart, traditional, medicinal bitter raspberry; traditional but the vintage gives nice fat; very good; in a great spot now.
