Strawberries and a bit sweet. Medium bodied. Soft bitterness. The acidity and tannin is not offering enough bite to make the wine interesting. In general ok, but not special.
Cherries and a bit strawberry. Soft bitterness. Ok acidity. Nothing special. Strange; I just saw I had the same wine of the same vintage in January, but with another label…..Different score as well.
This is one of the greatest disappointments of the wines I tasted this year. Thin, a lot of acidity and bitterness in an unpleasant way. We tried it over two days, but there was no improvement. A tempranillo at its worst. I very rarely score this low.
Primary cherries in the bouquet as well as the taste. Some strawberries as well. Fairly sweet. Soft acidity and bitterness. Not a bad wine if you like the style, but for me this is close to lemonade.
Very light brown colored. Overripe fruits. Prunes. Almost boiled. Oxidised style. Sweetness, but no acidity to back it up. Unpleasant to say the least. One of my lowest scores.
Firm wine with a lot of bitterness, tannin, cassis. Also a bit sweetness. Straight forward (at the moment) wine which is clearly made of the Tannat grape. Needs time; 3 - 5 years at least. Then it might score a few points higher.
Ripe fruits, mainly cherries. Same in the taste. Ok acidity. There is bitterness but it is a bit edgy and unpleasant. Ok, above average wine, but nothing more than that.
Sweet blackberries in the bouquet as well as the taste. The tannin is soft but firm. In the aftertaste there is something that reminds me of tea. Overall a pleasant and ok wine.
This is a very complete wine. Elegant and complex. Very smooth. No sign of what imo makes many Chilean wines a bit boring; too much sweetness without good stuffing behind it. In this wine the sweetness adds to the complexity and elegance. Red and black fruits, beautiful oak. Milk chocolate. At first the tannin seemed a bit tired, but later there was no sign of that anymore. Nevertheless I think it is of no use keeping this wine much longer. Drink it soon straight from the bottle and decant if you think the wine does not give itself completely. On the other hand; with this concentration it will probably hold out for several years.
Textbook and rustic Bordeaux. Little barnyard. Quite mature. There is good acidity and bitterness. The tannin is still firm, but it seems to be quite mature as well. The wine will probably stay on this level for some years, but I wonder if it will improve. At the moment it is a tempting and fairly complex wine with a good bite.
What a beauty! It has the sweetness of a Californian wine, but altogether this is so elegant and tempting. CS bouquet. Full bodied and a lot of everything. Good acidity and luxurious oak. Everything perfectly integrated. Probably at its peak now, but I think it will stay on this level for some time.
A wine with many faces. At first as my TN of November last year. The next day it seemed to have lost part of its complexity, but it was still developing. Later the juiciness came back and it was as complex as in the beginning. What a great wine!
Completely blind, and again, the same notes and score. It becomes boring, but I am really happy I have two bottles myself. What a great wine. This will keep for many more years.
Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
What a wine and what a bouquet! The bouquet is so complex; every time you smell you find something new. Blackberries, cassis, herbs, leather etc. etc. In the mouth there is an enormous concentration and good oak and acidity. Full bodied and elegant at the same time. Good bitterness. This is eating and drinking at the same time. But that bouquet…..amazing.
Complete wine. A lot of tannin and good acidity and behind it black fruits, chocolate, cedar, little pleasant barnyard, etc. etc. Wait for a few years or give it enough air.
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Beautiful bouquet, enormously complex and elegant; cedar, barnyard, cassis, leather, herbs etc. On the palate the same explosion. If I really have to find something less positive; it could have been a little more full bodied. But no mistake about it; this is a textbook great Bordeaux.
The bouquet explodes from the glass. A lot of sweetness. Eucalyptus, mint, chocolate cassis, blackberries, blueberries. Enormously concentrated and with a lot of everything in a good way. Great wine!
Popped and poured the wine was a bit musty. A few hours later it opened up. Cedar, mushrooms, cassis, autumn forest. Mature, soft and complex. A textbook aged Bordeaux.
Enormous wine! Enormously concentrated and young, but what a bouquet!! Powerful and elegant, cedar, all sorts of ripe black fruits, even some minerals. On the palate the same experience. How can a wine be so concentrated and elegant at the same time? The tannin is beautifully soft. This wine can certainly age, but it is such a beauty already!
France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Saumur-Champigny
Rustic wine with a beautiful and complex bouquet; forest fruits, good oak, some herbs. On the palate the wine is elegant with a lot of good acidity. Lacks a little in body, but this surely is an elegant and complex wine which gives a lot of pleasure.
Beautiful complex Pauillac bouquet with ripe black cassis, luxurious oak, cedar, liquorice and a little lead pencil. All beautifully integrated. The wine is at its peak now, but there is enough power in the tannin to keep it a few more years. Great experience!
Not a crisp and elegant Chardonnay. This is a beast. The concentration and the oak are enormous. The fruit can handle the oak, but at this moment the oak is not integrated yet. This is much too young. Give it at least 3 - 5 years.
Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
A mouth full of wine. Alcohol, black fruits, oak. Enormously concentrated and a lot of everything, but in good harmony. Still a baby. Needs several years.
