Magnum. Heavy structure, good sweetness, not exploding yet but obviously very fine. 95-96+

Blind. Magnum. High acid, some smoke and tea, dark fruit, very good balance and sweetness. Tight and a little thin. 93-94

Fairly dark profile, similar notes. 93

Not dead at all after hours of air. The herbal, minty and sweet qualities make it quite pleasant, almost like a port. Quite nice. 92-93

Two bottles. Soft dark florals, need a lot of time for tannins to resolve. 91+

Off bottle? It is quite strong in peppery flavor, and lacks the graceful balance of the vintage. 93 for the dense showing(?)

Intense Pauillac nose, but quite acidic and bitter. 90?

Blind. Classic nose. Firm concentration, black fruit, subtle brown sugar sweetness, even oyster. The balance is graceful and undertoned. 94-95

A little oxidized, but minty, gracefully smooth and sweet. Shame.

Not bad for vintage, some good spice in there. But not exciting either. 89-90

Warm blue fruit, not quite the signature cigar/pencil box nose, a little thin. 93

Blind. Three separate bottles. At first peppery, but with time exploding into classically Lafite nose. Purple cassis, chalk, tobacco, grilled meat, not showy but quite balanced. Something about the old-school style really delivers. 93

2001 Château Haut-Brion Blanc 93 Points
France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
Intense honey, bee wax, citrus fruit, dark florals. Nose is very intricate and complex, but the weight falls short for a Batard comparison. 93

Blind. Heavy structure, high alcohol, harsh tannin, sweet fruit, somewhat unexpected for a HB. 93

Two bottles. Both are not as expressive as last, but the amazing balance and clarity are present. 96++

1964 Château Haut-Brion 93 Points

Ruby color pointing to a much younger age. The nose is more fitting, yet retains even some red fruit. Quite old-school, elegant and balanced. 93
