Fading, with more to say in the nose, with its tobacco, cigar box, spearmint, smoke, cedar, spice, and smoked currant character, than on the light-weight, bright, crisp, cranberry, and tart cherry palate. This is not a wine to hold for further development as it is well past its prime. Drink from 2024-2026.

Very youthful in color- could easily be 30 years younger. Complex aromas of tobacco, tar, dried herbs, burnt ash, mint, a bit of candied red fruit. A tinge of chocolate, maybe some orange zest. Fresh. Magnificent.
Lovely flavor as well. On first opening it's a little lacking in structure but the tannins come out once it has a little air. Slightly disappointing finish though, which keeps it from a higher score.

Sunday hangout (Glencoe, IL): Initially I thought this might've been corked, but it was just stink that blew off. Long in the tooth now, and more interesting to try than good. Some mature Bordeaux perfume, but a palate that is slightly tinny and thinning out.

not blind
Still refreshing acidity, black currant, classical left bank, probably classical HB with some iron notes. 95

Bienvenue a Champagne; 4/20/2023-4/29/2023 (Les Crayeres, various restaurants, Les Avises and a many wonderful producers): One bottle was corked but one bottle was truly beautiful and just kept getting better. Both from half bottles. Tons of HB nose to this - all spices and herbal style and really drinking very well. Kept getting better.
