Taylor's Port: Bottled from cask, on demand. Surprisingly deep colour, like Oloroso but finer, with layers of amber and gold, and a tint of blueish green at the rim that I've never seen in a wine before. Profound nose: strong, strong. Smoke, nail varnish, dried apricot, bergamot oil. From the nose alone I can sense the soaring acidity: there's such a bite to the bouquet, such smoking mineral intensity. Great attack, fierce acidity, some tannin too, orange zest, walnuts, oak, and a wave of other exotic aromas. The finish is incredible. And it gets better in the glass, by the minute. I wish I had an entire bottle of this to myself because it is building a crescendo here. I check back to the Colheita 1965 and that wine feels ridiculously young now. I cannot see anything missing or anything I'd like to take away. This is a perfect wine.

As with all great wine experiences there's an element of surprise involved. I just couldn't believe the power and self confidence on display here: the wine just completely swept away everything else. And the increasing intensity… almost frightening, like waking up some primordial beast. I suppose this is indestructible but it was a privilege to try it now. Getting to know it, I can only say that a profound sense of reverence came upon me.

Birthday dinner for..............ME!!!!!!! (Cafe Med): I popped this and poured a little tiny amount before dinner to make sure it was not tainted and I was blown away. I have had many Bordeaux wines and if memory serves me correct this is my first 100 pointer. I had this wine a year or two ago when I bought three bottles from a collectors cellar and it was great at the time but this bottle is just perfect right now. Smooth, concentrated, rich, balance. Damn, this wine hits it all perfect for me. Great bright fruits, tannins integrated, some slight secondary characteristics, nice long finish, slight dryness and perfect with a veal chop!! Can this wine gain some more character? Perhaps, but why wait!! I loved it !! I don't plan on waiting too long to open my last bottle. Lightning in a bottle? I dunno?? But hit it right for me.......

Where does one begin to describe this and even more how does one rate it. Dark in colour and shines through the early century whiter than normal bottle with all the hand made flaws ( the bottle is itself a story) . Rich but with impressive acidity, rich apricot, honey. An exceptional experience and albeit one can argue about the wine the experience and the emotion it invokes can only be described as perfect. 100

Light garnet color, loads of nuts, currants in alcohol, caramel, honey, orange zest, hints of sweet spice and oak. Lively nose if ones take into account the age. Palate same as nose with med viscosity, some hints of coffee and chocolate, very fine mouthfeel, long aftertaste. An amazing experience. This is part of the Greek winemaking history and the rating reflects that

From Paris with Love, 2023 Edition; 11/24/2023-11/25/2023 (Paris): A light decant definitely helps here but avoid a long one.
We worried about it given the 1996 Margaux was a bit showing too much age last time we had it ( Papies 95-96) but oh no… This was still one might argue ( and we all agreed) on the developing side of its life. The fruit is ever so alive and firm, evolved of course but showing no signs of letting go. Same with the nose which it felt just about turning the real secondary chapter with still rich ( for an elegant Margaux ) fruit, soft dark fruits and ever elegant balance. This is a magnificent wine through and through, on point, in harmony and does not scream or shout, more lets you discover its graceful Beauty with a capital B. Nicol 99 - Andreas 100 > 99. Drink now but with another easy decade of great drinking.

We discussed this wine being like the ever stoic but magnificent ballerina , and Andreas mentioned the bit in the performance of the Chinese state ballet with the ballerina performing the main act on the Ballerino’s shoulders. Ever so magical scene. Frankly this wine is not the girl, but the boy making it ever so effortless and still exhibiting a strength and elegance but without ever braking character. This wine makes me want to sell my car and buy this wine with the cash. It is that good.

I opened and decanted it almost five hours before drinking. On opening and at cellar temperature the nose was barely there - tiny whiff of eucalyptus, some blackberry and that was pretty much it. At 4 hours I poured it back in to bottle and the aromatics were still muted - a soy and spice powder component that was not altogether pleasant and concerned me. At five hours and then over the next hour as the wine warmed into the mid and upper 60s the nose was phenomenal - very much a Margaux nose of leather and earth with both sweetish, tart cherry and blackberry. The nose was captivating. Now at six hours it's been making me leave wine in my glass. Just smelling - it’s not Napa. It's Left Bank.

Light-medium body and a sensuous mouth feel. Lush without being thick. Flavors are a chocolaty blackberry and a bit of tart sweet cherry but the cherry is background. Everything is in balance, nothing discordant about the wine start to finish. In the mouth and on the finish there is also tobacco, leather and earth woven in with the fruit flavors. Some purple fruit - seems like ripe ripe red plum.

Acidity is laser-focused start to finish but not prominent - just holds everything together. The acid yields only on the finish with a burst of flavors, a reprise of everything in the wine, exploding, tannin kicks in, yields to acid, mouth floods with flavor. The finish goes on nearly a minute.

Anyone want to buy an Audi S4 for cash?

What a wine this is really as far as Baroli go not sure what more we could have expected. Bright and energetic , full of charm and elegance, dark cherries, floral, balance and devout of the strength of the 2008 we had a couple of days ago. Big but not full of muscle or heavy just a perfectly ripe and effortless class wine. 98-99 and the sky is the limit in terms where this goes and how long it ages.

On the palate concentrated, ripe, but also grippy, spicy, mineral and fresh. Again layered, with lots of power and weight. The finish is simply stunning, there is not only impressive length, but also real lift and energy. In my top 3 at this tasting, absolutely wonderful. Will probably eclipse the 2010. My only criticism is the release price - it went from £575 in 2014, £1,115 in 2015 to £1,860 in 2016 (cases of 12, in bond). £/€ didn't help, but I think one can call this ambitious. 97-98+

Opened and left to rest for a good hour and we chose not to decant ( correctly) . The wine is elegant to the point of fragility so one needs to be careful with it not to disturb the fine sediment.
The memory we will always have from this wine is one of " what more could we have asked from a wine?" And frankly we would have rated it 100 if it wasn't for the fragile feel of it. Exceptional and magnificent, a ballerina of a wine, effortlessly elegant. Soft spice, light leather and earthy feel. Frankly the notes are irrelevant the Wine is an experience and lets just say this. It drinks perfectly now and it will last for sure but really now its just perfect. Pointless to rick unless one has a few bottles. Luckily we do. 98 PUNTO.

A mastercalss of classic Bordeaux and so fresh and energetic still ( We tried Mouton 85 also a superb wine , Papies 98 , back in February and that was a lot more evolved) to the point that we went with an early 90s maybe a 90-91 Dominus. Requires decanting for sure and a good hour here helped. Post that it was a recital of greatness that old school classic Napa of the 90s ( a bit of a soft spot there) only delivers. It’s as we always say like a 1er Cru from Bordeaux at the top of the range plus an extra dollop of ripeness and that ever present juiciness that Napa has. We can go for ever here but this was a masterclass and an easy 97 maybe more and frankly could well have been a perfect wine if we have never had tasted perfect wines before. 97 ++
