"A wine for those who love Medocs for their own sake and are not slaves to labels". Medium body, pleasantly acidic, sufficient fruit remaining, though initial richness disappears perhaps a little too quickly. This might be my go-to wine for 2024. Can't see it getting any better for keeping. |

4/20/2024 - rjpbath Likes this wine: 89 points...learning experience.... Needs LONG decant/opening. Only after 6 hours double decant from a magnum was it ready (dead as a dodo when cork pulled). At that point it was showing very nice secondary notes. I would really NOT have predicted that when I tasted it as a fruit bomb en primeur. Good example of Haut Medoc, but not behaving like an average 2009 wine. |

4/2/2024 - oakville72 Likes this wine: 91 pointsMedium dark, blueberry ruby red. Pencil lead hits the nose, making one think of Pauillac — indeed, the vineyards are just south of St. Julien. Dark berry fruit starts in the nose and continues through to the finish. Rather lean with appropriate tannins. New oak is apparent throughout. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. Needs a few more years to even out. Good value for Médoc. |

2/17/2024 - ex-sommelier Likes this wine: NRVery crisp, very classic 2014. I feel like I can blind this Bordeaux vintage fairly well these days. Tart fruit, mint, blackberry bush, graphite. Some will prefer more concentration and fruit but if you know the vintage and the producer you know what you are getting. This honestly could still use some more time, but its personality is all there. I look back on my last note from 2019 and doesn't seem like much has changed. |
