Litt tanniner. Litt for dominert av eik. 86 poeng første dag. Sparte halve flasken til dag 2. Da var mye av eiken borte og vinen var klart bedre dag 2. 88 poeng dag 2. Snitt på 87 poeng.

Another wine produced by Lanessan.

Chocolate and cedar wood on the nose, in a good way. And structured on the palate.

First had a 2010 Galatrona, then this- not going to offer any comparisons. The Lanessan is fresh, lengthy, ready but with lots of promise. Not the most profound of wines, but pleased everyone at the table.

Actually better than last year. Still more rhone nose than classic bordeaux, but some heavy Merlot in the background mixed with forest floor and leather. Fairly light bodied but OK balance v

color still excellent, deep ruby with zero bricking. very fresh green nose, tobacco, damp earth. with 2 hours of air the fruit (red plum, ripe red cherry (pits) has come alive. any tannin is long gone, med. finish with lingering flavors of dried black cherry and a certain smokey meaty character (though slight in this regard), this is at peak maturity but in proper storage would surely still be good another 6-10 years. A delicious luncheon claret!

Earthy, tobacco driven, dark red fruits with a rustic type of charm, although the wine seems cleaner, fresher and a bit softer than in previous vintages. Much of that credit for the improvement in the wine belongs to bringing in Hubert de Bouard as their consultant starting with the 2015 vintage. 88 - 90 Pts

See my previous note, is what you write when you retaste a rather young wine, but in this case it is close to weird. In 2011 nearly 59 years old en now nearly 64 years old and hardly no difference. Base of neck, the wine showed even better than 5 years ago, no whiff of old sour. The bouquet was extraordinary with a basket full of fresh red fruit, the midbody wasn't loaded, but very balanced and as fresh as the bouquet and the finish was impeccable, so one point more for its condition and liveliness. Deductive Tasting (Blind) (Rajiv's House, San Francisco): Deep ruby with minimal to no bricking; nose is aromatic with bell pepper, pyrazines, slight mint, black fruit; palate is full bodied, deep black fruit, alcohol is elevated 14.5%+, acid is medium, tannins are medium-plus and youthful, some black fruit present but fades quickly; finish is short. Nose is interesting but the palate and finish fall dramatically short. Cabernet sauvignon vs. malbec, considering cabernet franc but too ripe on the palate, considering merlot but too many pyrazines and not enough black plummy fruit. Either modern right bank Bordeaux or new world producer, moderate level. 85

Another good example of a well aged Lanessan. Developed aromas of raw meat, leather, dusty closet and dried blackberry. What I am missing is intensity and power. Even so, this wine has great elegance and a silkiness on the palate. Very polished tannins and lively acidity, which makes this wine such a balanced one.

Nice claret. Still quite alive. After a 30 minute decant this showed very well especially for $20. Ripe fruit, decent grip, medium/full body, plush tannins. Not terribly complicated but classic medoc flavors and profile. Drink up!

tested blind, looks old, does not resemble the previous two wines from the same vintage, this looks like it is 30 years old, fragrance is the best with this wine and the smell tokbakk and horse, the smell is good but the flavor is disappointing, have soft storage aromas, but have become too old already, it has not withstood storage as good, nor is a top castle, drink up what you might have, was probably better 5 years ago

Pretty neutral in the grand scheme of the modern vs. old-world bordeaux. Enough fruit to keep the mouth invited, but enough backbone to withstand some aging. A great pricepoint (~$40/magnum), and drinks at that pricepoint. It didn't rock my world, but restores faith in the idea that there can be some appropriately priced Bordeaux left in the US.

PnP. Beautiful nose of cherry, cranberry, earth, and herbs. The palate has notes of red fruits, herbs, lavender, leather, and a strong umami (mushroom, soy, and meat) quality in the mid-palate. The tannins are well integrated and silky. This is more complex than some classified growths. What drags it down a notch or two are the medium-short finish and the medium-light body.

More fruit-forward on day 2. Great QPR!

Decanted for about an hour. Some earthy, leather and mushroom notes. The fruit intensifies with more air, but this remains elegant and soft. We both enjoyed it with grilled rib steaks.

Took a couple of hours to open up with nice mature notes of coffee, leather and herbs. Softening tannins on the palate showing lots of leather and fruit that is starting to dry up.
