9/3/2016 - Edeon Likes this wine: 97 pointsA bit dusty, but amazing length. Very inviting nose. I preferred this wine in the blind stage to the other 11, including the 1978 Latour, 1979 Margaux and 1978 Palmer. |

9/3/2016 - Rani wrote: 90 pointsTasted blind. What a bruiser. Lots of black fruit and cedar, gun powder, pencil lead. Quit alcoholic, feels 'new worldish' and young - would have never give this 20 years of age. I think this needs more time or serious decanting. |

8/27/2016 - liber Likes this wine: 92 points5th of 25, decanted 2 hours, perfect cork and level - much as my May 15 note, these 96s seem to be regressing into their shells and are currently hard work, despite their underlying qualities, hard currently to rate above fine (17.5), though I'm sure the underlying wine is at least VF (18.5), but when.....technically similar to the 86 which took time to show, though the quality of tannin and fruit seem better in 96? |

Cork was removed intact by the sommelier using a Durand corkscrew (note to myself make sure this is on the Xmas wish list) and decanted but only for about 15 mins before we started drinking it. |

1/18/2013 - bestdamncab Likes this wine: 95 pointsUnion Des Grands Crus de Bordeaux 2010 Vintage Tasting San Francisco, nose of black currants, blackberry, black cherry, plum, with a touch of oak, same on the palate, seemed bigger than the Chateau Lynch Bages to me, very tasty, medium amount of slightly harsh tannins, needs 7+ years to peak, one of my favorite Bordeaux, out of my price range, medium/long finish. |

8/14/2016 - wconnolly Likes this wine: 92 pointsMedium garnet in color with no significant signs of age. The nose fills the room with violet and lavender...huge nose. Dark fruit, leather and tobacco on the palate. This is our favorite Bordeaux and we have tasted probably 10 vintages over the years. This evening we were fortunate to drink this side by side with the '89 vintage. The similarities were overwhelming. It was a real challenge to articulate differences. A tribute to not just the terroir but also to the skill of the winemaker in making such a consistent, classic wine year in and year out. |

8/15/2016 - amateurwino wrote: 94 pointsLovely example of Pichon Lalande. On the nose, there were leafy green aromas, hints of coffee, cedar, graphite, and dark fruits showing the cooler, classic profile of the '89 vintage. On the palate, resolved and pretty - an elegant, composed claret from a high quality producer. I preferred this to the one time I've had the '82, though I think that is likely more a function of the particular bottles I had rather than a definitive preference for one vintage over the other. Wish I had more time to spend with this wine, and more than a glass, but thankful to have had it. |

8/14/2016 - rmcnees Likes this wine: 93 pointsA comparison of 1989 and 1998 vintages - Dark garnet colored, starting to show a slight brownish rust hue due to aging, medium full bodied, complex yet perfectly balanced, each exhibited classic nose of a fine cigar, earth, floral, tones of cassis, graphite and hint of menthol and smoky oak. The 98 was a bit more bright and vibrant in its expression of the fruit, while the 89 was a bit more subdued and slightly closed. Both finished with smooth graceful silky lingering tannins. |

8/13/2016 - winesteward Likes this wine: 87 pointsNot exactly the best Bordeaux vintage but I was made an offer I could not refuse. Popped and poured for dinner tonight. Quite dark but with pronounced browning on the edge. Pronounced coffee nose with touches of blackberries, currants, floral notes and meat. Medium+ body but very soft. On the palate, sweet spices. The fruit is pretty ripe with a bit of sweetness to it although the wine itself has a lean frame. Some acidity at the back end. Earthy notes and dried herbs. Pretty dry. Medium+ length. Definitely not for decanting and an open bottle should be consumed within 2 hours before starting to fall apart. Still, I found it very good but certainly past peak and should be consumed soon. |
