5/24/2024 - Keith Levenberg Likes this wine: 93 pointsThis was a very satisfying bottle of LSG and I probably couldn't have hoped for a better showing on the basis of how it showed a dozen years ago. It features scents of forest and underbrush - still hasn't kicked that element of greenery it showed back then, but it's exhibiting it in a softer and more harmonious, less spiky fashion. I guess at this point it's likely to be a permanent feature, but I actually really like what it does for the wine. The fruit material is streamlined but still feeling on the young side, nowhere near autumnal territory and with more freshness and sweetness than I've been primed to expect from the vintage. Still, it is understated. There's nothing that stands out and yet I keep picking it up to take another sip. And just when I thought it might have given everything it had, it took a turn towards even more finesse. |

5/18/2024 - sirpat00 wrote: 92 pointsDouble decanted. Meaty notes of smoked bacon, red cherry fruit, char coal as well as minor tertiary notes of mushrooms. A bit of pipe tobacco, too. The nose is astonishingly versatile, providing for both breadth and width. Adding black chocolate and seasoning spice. A bit of green vegetal notes, but serving more as a feature. The palate was rather thin, admittedly, but came across fresh overall, still with plenty of fruit and a hint of leather. Structural tannin with some grip left. A nicely aged Burg with no real credentials, drinking amazingly well. Auction bottle for 46 bucks - what a treat! |

Medium/full bodied, dark and meaty with fine but still firm tannins, ooodles of character but also energy and class, game and smoke notes, very good length grippy finish. Compelling, excellent touching outstanding. For the long haul but can be enjoyed now. |

Hint of Tizer. A lot to like with this and am sure in time will be seriously impressive but on the night I enjoyed this less than some of my fellow diners. |

5/2/2024 - jnewman77 Likes this wine: NRThis was drinking very well; the nose was excellent and wide open on pop; classic dark fruit with some underbrush and forest floor alongside some dried violets; a bit more tannic heft, but well balanced and really quite enjoyable. |

"Stern" feels like a weird word to describe wine, but I think the intention is to convey the seriousness of this wine - I am sure this wine will be a great bottle in 20-30 years. It's not a bad bottle now, but I really do think this will be much better in many more years. |

One could feel the depth, despite the vintage, but in my opinion, this unmistakable Gouges does not serve well on a vintage such as '04. This is an exemple where I feel the admiration for the maker, but did not enjoy the bottle which is some distance from what I cherish of Burgundy. (it was rather bitter, with depth, full of earth but not enough fruits left and yet one could feel the profound potential in that direction... a weird profile indeed) A couple of years ago, from the same maker, same vintage but Les Porrets St Georges was more enjoyable, for sure. Cheers, |

Belle structure bien fondue, avec beaucoup de tertiaire, déjà au détriment d’un fruit qui semble un peu faible. |

4/20/2024 - Seth Rosenberg Likes this wine: 96 pointsJersey Boys (Grand Sichuan, Jersey City, NJ): Beautiful nose that is classic Chevillon. Cherry, slutty, a bit gutty, sweet spices, sweet, marzipan. Palate shows cherry and spices but also meaty and earthy. Lots of structure. Finish is really structured with dusty tannins. Wine is really growing with time and the palate and finish are just killer. Tons of sweet cherries and spice. Gutty. Dusty tannins but such grip and depth. This just kept getting better and better. Wow. Nose - 5-5.5/6, Palate - 5.5-6/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5-18.5/20. |

4/20/2024 - salil wrote: 96 pointsGrand Sichuan, Jersey City edition (Grand Sichuan, Grove St.): Just a stunning bottle of Burgundy - a hauntingly complex and beautiful fragrance, a palate that's so graceful and polished with fine grained tannin beneath, and somehow it keeps getting better and better with air. There's no sense trying to describe the various flavour components, because this is so much more than the sum of all the various flavours - I'll just say it seems to show equal parts fruit, earth, and more savoury developed tertiary notes, with everything coming together into a seamless whole. |

2022 Georges Noellat Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Saint GeorgesPinot Noir more |
4/21/2024 - Cailles wrote: 91 pointsTasting the 2022s from Georges Noellat. These are beautiful, seductive, and charming wines with a ripe fruit core and a silky structure and texture but also with finesse and elegance, elevated by to die for floral notes in most wines and a superb freshness which one would not expect in such a hot year (which surprised me in all 2022s from all wineries). The balance in these 2022 is superb. A vintage to look out for. My favorite was the Echezeaux (95pts). A impressively concentrated and layered wine with loads of red berries and floral notes, a distinctive menthol component, spices and minerality. Despite its youth, the wine was already open and showed incredibly balanced. I preferred it to the slightly closed Grands Echezeaux (94pts) which had a muted nose but showed incredibly promising with stunning precision but still quite some edges, this can for sure reach the 97pts category. The Les Beaux Monts (95pts) showed complex with superb blue fruit and floral notes complementing the red berry core, but the true highlight was the sliky elegance and harmony. The Les Petits Monts (93pts) was just a step behind, with an impressive complexity and concentration but a darker, riper profile than most other wines. I would give this at least a decade before opening it. The Les Chaumes (92pts) had a beautiful red fruit core and good roundness but remains a bit simple. The Aux Boudots (90pts) was the most stemmy, earthy of all wines in the lineup, a bit hard – interesting but missing that touch of seductive sweetness that is signature for the winery. The NSG Les Saint Georges (91pts) showed a nice cherry core but beside that seemed a touch simple, still offering good freshness and balance. The only wine in the lineup I didn’t care about was the Les Feusselottes (85pts) which a good structure but a diluted, too ripe fruit core. |

4/16/2024 - Mag357 Likes this wine: 92 pointsConsistent with previous notes, this wine is fresh, concentrated, and with better depth of flavors, ending in a long finish. The wood which was quite obvious two years ago has started to recede, a good sign for the future. Excellent. 2028-2038. |

4/7/2024 - jnewman77 Likes this wine: NRAuction purchase; this was really quite good; cork was only saturated about 1/4 of the way up; the nose initially had a bit of dust and earth that dominated, but with about 45 min of air this really blossomed with lovely ripe cherry and black raspberry, underbrush and just a hint of sauvage along with some baking spice and black tea. The palate was initially still a bit austere, but with air it smoothed out and became more balanced. Good concentration. This has plenty of time. Served with a lamb stew and it worked well. |

3/30/2024 - jOH4289 Likes this wine: 94 pointsOpen the bottle in a birthday party. Very quiet and closed but leak enough scent of cool red berries all over the glass bowl, very elegant. After almost two hours the wine start to build-up powerful almost forceful but well behave nose of complex ripe red fruits and scent of violet here and there but in a luxurious style. When this come to palate the scent of colorful flowers that found blossom near the ground in the garden had confirmed it’s presence that transformed into spice sweet taste. The sweetness almost feel like honey with just right acidity but hide under a buttery coat. The aftertaste was like swallowing strawberry tart down the throat with unbelievably very long explosive and pleasant finish. A lot of taste that cannot described into words. A legend. |
