4/25/2024 - PIntag wrote: 94 pointsThis second bottle was also in great shape. Best as it warmed to near room temp. A substantial and complex new world Chard that is more than just a summer sipper. I can't afford Grand Cru White Burg, but I imagine this probably delivers something close, and at only $6/bottle from auction. Thoroughly enjoyed these two bottles, but now they are gone :( |

At least 2 guys from our table oohed & awed over this Sunday. While I enjoyed it more than the 2 Kistler Chards it paled in comparison to Mike Z's '14 Hanzell Chardonnay, for me. For me this was prototypical Ca Chardonnay. Well-made but a bit weighty like most Ca Chards for my palate. Its toastiness was bit more than I care for too. |

4/25/2024 - gharter Likes this wine: 91 pointsPnP. Even better than the last bottle. No hurry to open. Aromas of citrus, lemon, pear, minerals and minimal oak. Similar flavors showing the lemon, citrus, pear, lots of minerality. good acidity leading to a long finish. Minimal oak presence. Very good now, but may improve with more time. No signs of decline. |

4/21/2024 - rocknroller wrote: 94 pointsMonthly Tasting Group: California: Anything but Napa (BLVD Kitchen & Bar, Wayzata, MN): Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour plus. This was in great form tonight. It was the class of all the chards. Steely, crisp, great stony minerality, fresh cut pear, medium body, bright, Meyer lemon, long and vibrant. Loved it. |

Same bottle as JCGuthrie. This did come off as a bit tired. Round, a little alcohol coming through, pear and peach notes witha little vanilla left. Drink up. |

4/24/2024 - Montesquieu wrote: 92 pointsAs a Monte Bello collector since 2001, I normally don't open bottles until they're mature - 15+ years in good vintages, 10+ in an off one. I made an exception in this case to assess the smoke presence and whether these should be consumed younger as a result. My palate isn't the most sensitive, but I do believe I detected smoke, which challenged the otherwise good MB core. The wine was still a good wine, though not for the price, for the first 60 minutes. After that, the smoke became more prominent relative to other notes. Consequently, I'll plan to consume these younger than normal and without long decants. 5 people found this helpful, do you? 4/24/2024 - WineJ2019 wrote: NRHad over 3 nights. First two nights was pretty closed with more of an herbal / dill / vegetal taste. Night 3 it (finally) showed more of a fruit profile that was more promising, albeit cloaked by tannins. Glass half full says that’s a sign of long aging potential. Glass half empty says it’s a bit of a gamble whether everything harmonizes and emerges in 10yrs. I might pick up another bottle but certainly not backing up the truck. |

Gave this a 2hr decant and back in btl b4 leaving for the dinner. Well, this was a nice way to end a string of 7 btls I've drank since 2011. I usually only buy 3 of anything but went back for more of these and glad I did! Still, wish I had at least 3 more. This was really in the pocket tonight & my WOTN. Pristine dark raspberry flavors along with ample spice and forest floor notes. Kind of big guns Vosne like for me tonight. Modest 13.5% alc. I think current prices for this cuvee are knocking on the door of $80. Still worth it but I miss getting this cuvee for the mid $40s on release. |

4/23/2024 - blackbrownbeige Likes this wine: NRThis is drinking very well - it's lovely and elegant with the savoury, sous-bois character nicely framed by a solid core of dark red and purple fruits. A really nice mineral/crushed rock streak runs through it from start to finish, too. You could keep it for quite awhile longer if you wanted more of the the botanical notes to come to the forefront, but I feel it's really quite balanced now with just the right amount of grip. |

4/23/2024 - alanr Likes this wine: 93 pointsMedium golden color, has a lovely nose of crushed fruit, touch of red apple; nice medium intensity on the palate, has the typical touch of Alpine “honey”, not in a sweet way, but in its richness. If only there was a bit more salinity, but that’s not a trait I find as much in the Rhys Chards. |
