Had over 3 nights. First two nights was pretty closed with more of an herbal / dill / vegetal taste. Night 3 it (finally) showed more of a fruit profile that was more promising, albeit cloaked by tannins. Glass half full says that’s a sign of long aging potential. Glass half empty says it’s a bit of a gamble whether everything harmonizes and emerges in 10yrs. I might pick up another bottle but certainly not backing up the truck.

From cuttings in the 1800s that came from Margaux.
Medium plus nose shows herbal notes, black fruit, cedar, earth, pencil shavings, leather. Palate definitely Bordeaux style, feels nicely developed with some tertiary notes, dried black fruits, sandalwood, then medium plus dusty tannins, nice balance. Really lovely stuff, cool style for CA.
60% new oak. 10% Merlot, 3% Cab Franc, 2% Petit Verdot.

Blackberry, black plum, black cherry, nutmeg, eucalyptus, leather, cedar and minerality. Fruit has nice purity and focus with a sense of place. Elegant and silky mouthfeel. Fresh acidity. Supple tannins that are well integrated at this point. Good length of finish.
Aged in French and American oak. A wonderful representation of Santa Cruz Mountain fruit and terroir. Seek this out if you’re looking for a less extracted and less oak dominated California cab/Bdx blend.

Wine & Spirits Top 100 Wineries Tasting Event - Quick Impressions - Oct 11: Black currant, cedar, tobacco, vanilla, violets. Round and stately, voluminous through the palate and well-framed, closing ripe full tannins.
