5/3/2024 - seijaro Likes this wine: 91 pointsWe liked it but it was stingy even after 90 minutes in decanter. Also had a bit of a hard edge, not Grenache-lush like others we have had. We have another bottle, I will give it the Parker 3-hour double decant and if that doesn't do it, will write off this producer in favor of others. We like CDP. |

5/1/2024 - Caruso Likes this wine: 98 pointsDark crimson. Pnp, partly decant. This is tight and even seems shut down not giving much more than some dark cherry scents. On the palate it is smooth with tannin in the backseat, but a lot of glycerin and incredible texture. Within 15 minutes without decant it adds some more nuances of stone fruits reminiscent of peaches, plums, spices and herbal notes. At this time the palate gains more and more in intensity and the tannic backbone becomes more prominent as well. This is concentrated, but nowhere over the top or excessively extracted. In fact, for a perfect score like the WA or Jeff Dunnuck it lacks amplitude of aromatic intensity for me now, especially in the finish. Like Joe Czerwinski wrote, it is more to appriciate for its elegance than for sheer power of fruit or other scents and flavors. This changes after more than 2 hours (decant part), when it gets really intense and powerful, but also keeps most of its nuances and adds some new as pencil shavings e.g.. Nevertheless I cannot agree to a perfect score. An experience anyway. 5/14/19/10. Not to be cellared for much more than ten more years, though it seems so early in its evolution. |

4/30/2024 - RichD2 Likes this wine: 94 pointsNow a translucent red color with lighter edges at the current 11-year age. Cherry, anise, earth aromas. Much finesse on the palatte. Well balanced aged wine from obviously ripe and balanced grapes to begin with. Nice balanced minerality and acidity, spice on the long finish. This is a great time to drink this. |

4/30/2024 - mitiman2003 Likes this wine: 89 pointsPale yellow color, with very good clarity. Pleasing aroma of peach, golden delicious apple, & sweet floral notes. Fresh flavor of lemons & green apples. Crisp, but well balanced. Excellent for sipping by itself or as an accompaniment to fish or other light fare. |

4/21/2024 - Musinus wrote: 93 pointsRuby-garnet color. I let this bottle breathe several hours and a constellation of different aromas developed compared to a prior pop-n-pour bottle. Black cherry, ripe pomegranate, cured bacon, and tanned leather are apparent. Flavors of black tea, raspberry, and pepper on the palate make for a wine that pairs nicely with savory meats, cheeses, olives, and hearty breads. Offering by a moderately long finish, it’s surprisingly tasty at the moment yet has years remaining. We consumed it with paella constructed with Iberico chorizo and shrimp head bouillon- a fabulous combo. |

4/20/2024 - etyc wrote: NRDecanted (Voss) for ~3hrs before serving, alongside the 2011 SQN 11th Confession Grenache. Both high-octane blockbusters, this came across even "bigger" than the SQN. At 17-yrs (of age), this still seemed to be evolving (if at all) at a glacier pace. Nosed of blackberries, figs and some herbs, this was big, lush, concentrated, jammy (w/ hints of stewed fruits) but yet showed good freshness/acidity on the palate. Hopefully the extraction/lushness will temper down with more age, and coupled with the acidity/freshness, it'll develop into a more attractive wine... For now, quite a bruiser... |

4/16/2024 - Sanlucar Likes this wine: 93 pointsImpressive structure with minor sediment, it's made in an unfiltered / classic style, but the alcohol (15% +) is racing past the fruit and it will probably overwhelm the whole show in a few years; although there is still enough dark spices, black pepper, saddle leather, tannin & oak to override the problem. It benefits from a short decant (2-3 hours). It's a very enjoyable and exuberant CdP and well worth the cost. |

4/13/2024 - Eric Guido Likes this wine: NRThis really packs a punch. It's tightly wound, spicy and powerful. It will be interesting to see how it matures over time. Its alcohol content of 15.5% is not noticeable from taste but does fatigue the palate over time. The 2020 doesn't possess the elegance that I associate with Janasse Chaupin, but I have a strange feeling that it may surprise us over time. I'm letting the rest of my bottles rest for at least another five years. |

4/12/2024 - SAP Likes this wine: 96 pointsTrying a younger one from Domaine de la Janasse 2016 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Tradition. Dark red color, even if its a young wine he has a nose of ripe red and black fruits, violets and pepper. Light acidity in the mouth with well integrated tanins and a little bit of licorice. The 15% alcohol is not bad at all. Its going very well now but even in a decade it will be very nice (in my opinion) ! Good to have some bottles left.... |

4/2/2024 - davidandrose Likes this wine: 92 pointsHow is this only $10?? Purchased at the winery, this has ample apricot and lemon zest on the nose. There's butter across the palate but its not overpowering nor does it dampen the fruit. Insanely enjoyable, this was a nice pairing w Rose's version of Ikea's swedish meatballs |
