4/17/2024 - VAGenius Likes this wine: 92 pointsGrapey nose with lavender and notes of bazooka gum. Palate starts juicy with black cherry and cola, the rolls up into wide tannins, acidity, black fruits, black olive brine with dried herbs and nice citrus energy dancing on the tongue through the finish. Nice now, give the tannins a year or two to unfold. 92+ points. |

4/5/2024 - Charlie C wrote: 91 pointsBright red color, slightly translucent. Gorgeous, fragrant nose of cherries, raspberries and floral notes. Soft and lovely on the palate, raspberry, cherry, bright spice. Almost grenache-like. Bit of rich blackberry on the mid-palate. Precise, fine tannins, lovely acidity, beautiful balance. Finishes long and mellow with bramble fruits. Drink next 4 to 5 years. |

4/6/2024 - timewithwine Likes this wine: NRAn inky not-quite-black pours into the glass. The rim is ox-blood red. The nose is luxurious with blackberry, plum, cassis, bacon fat, smoke, brined black olives, maybe a bit of lavender, and definite mineral. The velvety mouthfeel reflects a deft hand. The finish is long. If there is one thing about all of the L-M wines, it is structure, and this presents structure in spades. While a big, muscular wine, its balance of tannin, fruit and acid is nothing short of tremendous. New World Syrah, but with a nod to the Old. Double decanted with loads of sediment left in the bottle and almost as much left in the first decanter. 14.7% alc., but not a whiff of heat. With grilled, bacon-wrapped bison strip steak and porcini mushrooms. 04.06.24. Highly Recommended. |

3/25/2024 - VoVo Likes this wine: 93 pointsThis is drinking well now and has many years left on it. A delicious, elegant Syrah with a lively profile of berries, herbs, and crushed violet. We just love Lagier Meredith and drink every bottle with appreciation for their expertise and the TLC they show in their wines. Be sure to decant. |

3/13/2024 - VAGenius Likes this wine: 92 points2 hour decant. Nose of purple flowers, cherry, dark spice and cinnamon stick. Smooth polished black plum palate hits quick and is followed by a line of fresh herbal notes, including bay leaf, sorrel, and peppery arugula. Polished tannins with a quick dash of black cherry, then a long lingering oak finish with a peppery and slightly bitter note. Enjoyable if not earth shattering. |

3/10/2024 - WineGuyDelMar Likes this wine: 94 pointsPulled cork an hour before dinner with no decant. It doesn’t need decanting now. So smooth now. Tannins have subsided now and it’s drinking great. Not sure more cellaring improved this. Yes it can age further but I think it’s so great right now. A great balance of just the right sweetness with the right amount of dryness. 3 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

3/8/2024 - Charlie C Likes this wine: 88 pointsDark purple-red with the slightest fading at the rim. Violets and roast meats on the nose. Plush on the palate but with the slightest bit of bite. Blackberries and cherries. Sharp tannins, bit overly acidic. decent balance. Finishes long and dark fruited with a bit of anise and sharp spice. Good but not what I expected. This is not typical of my experience with aged Lagier Meredith Syrahs which tend to hold their age very well. Still pleasure here, but if you have any (I still do) you may want to try one and see where it stands. I'll try one in a year or so. I'm hoping this is just a bit of an off bottle. Otherwise, I'd drink up. |

3/6/2024 - J @ y H @ c k Likes this wine: 92 pointsSomeone on WB mentioned Carlisle Mondeuse that, upon genetic sampling, turned out to be something else. I had this in the cellar from Berserkerday years ago and since Carole Meredith is the wine professor and wine genetics guru, I figured this could be the real thing. |

2/16/2024 - ppmm wrote: NRDrank over two nights. Very tight on night one, some purple fruit and a lot of tannic dust. More open on night two. Even in this state, this is reasonably pleasant and, importantly, well-balanced, but I don’t plan to touch another bottle for 5-7 years. |

2/15/2024 - jpcart Likes this wine: 92 pointsBlind I think I would have figured out it is a zin, but it is definitely a toned down style that I'm guessing was picked earlier or from a cooler site. Popped and poured and the nose was there immediately, with lighter red fruits and some spice. On the palette is where it becomes clear that it is a zin, but with less body and density than I'm used to (I don't intend that as a criticism). This is very easy drinking but if you slow down to pay attention, there is a lot of complexity. First try of this producer and happy I have several more. 1 person found this helpful, do you? 1/4/2024 - silton Likes this wine: 88 pointsA bit dried out / past peak - there's some fruit (some) especially on the nose but not a lot else going on. Going to pop the 2012 soon. Edit: I also recall a ferrous character here... I like cool climate Syrah, but this one is no longer in balance. |

12/18/2023 - wilypod Likes this wine: 93 pointsThe 2012 L-M Mondeuse has consistently exceeded expectations. A fair bit of sediment, so double decant carefully and let rest a couple of hours to open up. We drank this together with the 2011 L-M Syrah, both excellent, with the Syrah more forceful and the Mondeuse laid back and lush. Drink any remaining bottles in the next 2-3 years? |
