Robe jaune claire avec reflets verts. Nez de citron, de pêche, d'amande avec une touche minérale. Une bouche bien acide, fraiche et rafraichissante. Un vin de soif bien fait.

An aromatic wine which follows with a fruit forward in mouth flavor. Now for the weaknesses, the wine is medium weight, medium acidity and largely fruity. Boysenberry, some cranberry, but mostly sour oriented grapes.

So nice autumn leaf notes and sour cherry. Thought it would be ready to drink. Strong tannins still here and could use quite a bit more aging. You can drink it but it will benefit from more aging. A bit unbalanced because of this. Had nice long finish.

Al naso media la consistenza di profumi. Mix di frutta a bacca rossa e spezie. Al palato semplice ma gradevole, note fruttate e speziate. Buon equilibrio, morbido, fresco e piacevole anche nel finale. Tannini molto vellutati e ben nascosti, giusta acidità. Media-bassa persistenza.

2018 Pio Cesare Barolo Vigna Mosconi

The Mosconi, similar to the Ornato, undergoes 30-day maceration in stainless steel with the majority of the wine aged in large oak botte with a small proportion spending 12 months in barrique (not sure if any of it is new). The 2018 Mosconi is relatively elegant and vertical in its profile, in comparison to the darker, more brooding Ornato. While it is already fairly approachable, which may be due to the barrique softening the wine, it still has a strong Nebbiolo signature that is not really masked by the gloss or aromas of new oak. While I would not call this a purely traditionalist wines, I would say this would fall within the camp of tasteful modernism. It isn't soft or plush, but has really tension and energy.

The Ornato undergoes 30-day maceration in stainless steel with the majority of the wine aged in large oak botte with a small proportion spending 12 months in barrique (not sure if any of it is new). The 2018 Ornato came across as fairly approachable (perhaps because of the touch of barrique-influenced wine) with some slickness and polish, but it is not oaky (tasted no oak at all), internationally-styled chocolate milk shake either. This is identifiably Nebbiolo that shows real Serralunga character: a tannic, dark-fruited, and brooding wine that is taut and precise.

The 2019 Barbaresco surprised me – 70% of its grapes are sourced from Il Bricco in Treiso, the other 30% from other Treiso vineyards, and it had this lean, nervy, slightly citric and spicy quality I have found in other Treiso Barbarescos that I’ve tried from other producers (like Giuseppe Nada). Very true to place, and a relative value when compared to the the single-vineyard Barolos.

Al naso ottima profumazione di frutti neri e rossi, sottobosco, pietra e terziari di legno e vaniglia. Al palato complesso, ricco e fruttato, ciliegia e more. Ben strutturato, di carattere e corpo. Ottimo bilanciamento e buona persistenza.

In a great drinking window right now. Last year, the wine was quite tense and exhibited almost Dolcetto like characteristics. However, now it gives you everything a Barbera should.

Colour: medium ruby.
Acidity: medium.
Tannins: medium low.
Texture: soft.
Finish: short.

Aromas: sour cherry, raspberry, violets, and liquorice.

With 와인쟁이부부. Beautiful, high intense nose of tobacco, mushroom, leather. Much more earthiness than fruitiness is shown on the nose. I sensed some holes in the mid palate.

2010 Barolos at Terra Rossa with NLWTS (Terra Rossa, Upper Street): Darker nose than others… cassis?! Very sweet, pretty opulent. Super pronounced nose. Very generous… but not exactly textbook barolo - slightly on steroids! Really fun (and tasty) regardless of any atypicality.

Had this wine in a restaurant the other night for under 2 bills. Decanted at the table. I've been drinking Pio Cesare since the late 90s and have had many vintages back to the 60s and I always love it. Such a a great wine for the money!

Really pure red fruits (strawberry, cherry, raspberry) some tar, flowers, and tea. Tannins are very smooth and the wealth of fruit makes it perfectly drinkable now but it's structure will allow for a fairly long life I believe. Not sure if it will shut down or not but it's drinking beautifully now so try it when you can.

Took to restaurant, so soft, elegant, restrained, integrated, full of balanced red fruits, plum, raspberry, cranberry, hints of truffles and earth. Paired nicely with Scottish salmon and chicken and dumplings.

Three hour decant. Ruby, fading at the edges. Nose of red fruit, cigar box and earth. Palate of dried red cherries, tobacco and dusty earth. Medium bodied lacking density mid-palate that filled in with subsequent glasses. Grippy tannins and a long finish. Paired reasonably well with meat sauce spaghetti. Will hold remaining bottle a few years.

Darker and more intense than the '90 Parusso Mariondino it was paired with, with slight bricking at the edge. My favorite of the two. Both showed beautifully with Bill's red wine braised veal cheeks.

Medium deep brick red.
Aromas of cherry jam, plum tarte, sandalwood, wet tarmac and violet.
Medium body.
Finely grained lively tannins. Blackcurrant acids and walnut bitterness.
Palate of cherry, blackcurrant, truffle, nutmeg and baked earth.
A mature, rustic and utterly well-balanced wine with delicate dark fruit, beautiful grippy acids and a moderately long mineral finish. Drink within 5-7 years.
Tasted alongside Scavino, Bric del fiasco 1998 and the matched wine was generous, complex and modern in comparison.
