5/20/2024 - ploher wrote: NRA classic Baudry on the nose; blood, iron, barn, bell pepper, raspberries; there is nothing out there that smells quite like a Baudry, and this vintage offers great intensity of aromas. The palate is fresh, crunchy, still young with some tannins but approachable. Excellent development over hours getting fleshier and more substantial. Beautiful wine. 18/20 |

5/8/2024 - ziavino wrote: 89 pointsIntriguing as always, and needing a couple hours to open up. Notes of bell pepper, leather, tart cherry, and hints of brett commingle throughout, with ample acidity moving things along. Puckery and savory, and a nice change of pace, if not a tad simple. |

5/6/2024 - MrOctoberfest Likes this wine: NRLike every bottle from Chinon, and most CabFranc’s in general, this had some aromas of a recently abandoned outhouse in the Loire. That nastiness fades in time, and then it smells like a long abandoned outhouse in the Loire. |

4/27/2024 - Cabfrancophile Likes this wine: 92 pointsDay 1: Coravin-ed at cellar temperature. Immediately classic aromas, beef stock, tobacco, pasture, cherry, violets, tons going on, true bottle bouquet. Mid-weigh with a linear profile, crunchy red fruit, tobacco and minerality. Clean, pure, direct profile. Medium plus acidity, furry tannins on the finish, mostly resolved. This will continue to age, though whether it will improve from its current plateau is a matter of personal preference. |

4/14/2024 - Tim Heaton Likes this wine: NRPnP. Very good showing, fully mature though still very much in its preferred window. Little to no sign of age on the medium ruby core. Soil, plum, the occasional barn note, some sage and forest, etc. Lovely medium/med+ body with exceptional balance and good+ persistence. A joy. Hard to believe I paid just $22 on release; way over-delivered that on that. Easily highly recommended 5 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (4) |

4/11/2024 - ohne_musik wrote: 91 pointsSimilar to a year ago. Brett city at first, subsiding somewhat but not completely 4 hours in. Taut, crisp red fruits (redcurrant, pomegranate), tobacco, a hint of pyrazines, chalky fine tannins, and loamy soil. Some more sharp horsey brett before a crisp clean finish. Very classic chinon, no trace of heat. |

4/2/2024 - winchester-xi Likes this wine: NRDrinking beautifully with a bit of air. Relatively savory compared to, say, the preceding vintage, but lovely balance and, I’m inclined to say, finesse to the basic aromatic and flavor profile. |

3/28/2024 - acidqueen wrote: 92 pointsPerfect drinking window right now. This still has a bit of tannins on the finish but nothing obtrusive. Very elegant style, with nice ripeness, broad cherry and raspberry fruit and very little green pepper at all. Smoky notes. Nicely balanced. This will hold here for awhile but I can’t see a reason to wait longer if you have a few bottles. |

3/15/2024 - timewithwine Likes this wine: NRThis wine rests pretty in the glass with it burgundy translucence extending from rim to core. Distinct but somewhat muted notes of cranberry and raspberry lift from the glass along with some mushroom earthiness. Some sandalwood and cinnamon appear as the wine opens. All the same on the palate and continuing through the finish. The dominate note is the crunchy cranberry flavor. A solid wine but not delivering as much as I would have expected from this vintage. A shadowy streak of sediment runs along the side of the bottle. 13% alc. With assorted blue cheeses, Appalachian cheese and crusty bread. 03.15.24. Recommended. |

3/19/2024 - Wine Canuck wrote: 92 pointsThis pours medium to light ruby in the glass with no bricking. The nose is lovely and classical featuring crushed gravel, dark cherry, black currant, charcoal, burlap, peanut shells, bay leaf, lovely potpourri, and a touch of apple VA in the upper register. The palate is bright and fresh with black currant on entry, tannin is velvety and medium minus, with medium plus acid. The finish is quite modest in length, but shows a pleasant profile. All in all this is excellent and has clearly improved since release. Another Baudry classic that I think has plenty of life ahead. |

3/8/2024 - timewithwine Likes this wine: NRWhile the core color has been and remains to be cranberry, age is creeping in with maroon being the color of the rim. The cranberry theme carries over to the bouquet and through the palate where the fruit is almost crunchy. Notes of cinnamon, saddle leather and a bit of sandalwood waft from the glass, and with every sip, glide across the palate. The tannins are fully resolved and the finish has sufficient length, but the fruit is fading and the wine is not as focused. But it still delivers pleasure. A few years back, I mused on the possibility of setting aside some bottles for 10 years. That was misguided and I’m glade not to have followed my own advice. Time to drink up. Some sediment, but not a lot. Decanted. 13% alc. With mushroom pot pie (or tart). 03.08.24. Recommended. |

3/9/2024 - brooklynguy Likes this wine: NRReally great. Pulled the cork and tasted at 5, let sit til drinking at 7. Beautiful nose showing very floral and also with dark fruit, gravel, and hints of cocoa. Day two even more harmonious but less pungent. So well balanced on the palate, perfect harmony of fruit, structure, and mineral elements and it’s just lip smacking delicious. Great now with a little air but lots of life ahead. Should have bought more…. |

3/9/2024 - JM_MadTown Likes this wine: 89 pointsLots of blackberry and dark cherry fruit. The wine is very generous and more typical of Chinon in this vintage and not as rich as 2017, 2018 and 2019 (but that is not a complaint, just an observation). It is also very savory, earthy, with silky tannins (no new oak is used), smooth and delicious. I like these wines also for the lower alcohol levels: this one is at 12%. I am sure it will age nicely for the next ten years or so. |

3/7/2024 - Guillaume-en-égypte Likes this wine: 92 pointsDelicious and not showing any sign of shutting down. Full bodied, with bright, palet cleansing acidity - just a little bit of funk (brett) on the nose, with just ripe / pleasantly sour blue (& a hint of red) fruit, violets, woodsmoke, autumnal forest, and that very Chinon twist of graphite / lead pencil and tobacco leaf. This is just a puppy, and will be stunning in 10 -15 years...sadly my last bottle. Wish I'd backed up the truck when this was easily available for sub £20. |
