Super explosive, dense, deep and layered, this is showing notes od apricot, fig, dates, caramel, molasses, pepper, some citrus too and so much minerality. It's full-bodied and deep, with super high acidity and a lot of sweetness, but perfectly integrated and balanced. Long finish with so much complexity and length. A great great wine and one of the best sweet wines I have had in many years. Super impressive. |

While fully delicious and full of complexity, it's beginning to show slight signs of a slow decline, so I'd be drinking any remaining bottles sooner than later. This is always a treat, and I always tip my hat to such a talented, beautiful human being that was the late Laurence. |

1/19/2024 - RoelD Likes this wine: 93 pointsAlbert Mann is undoubtedly one of the most reliable sources for high quality Alsace wine and, if I’m not mistaken, this is their flagship. Beautiful golden color with, on the nose and palate peaches, melons and citrus fruit, a nice minerality, adequate acidity with a slight touch of residual sugar (certainly not bone-dry) and a voluptuous long finish. This wine is already enjoyable now, but will improve considerably for many years to come. Prices of these wines are on the upswing, especially at the domain. I would advise potential buyers to look out for a reliable supplier in their own country: for this wine I paid 45,00€ (in 2021) in Belgium, while at the domain they are charging nowadays 60,00€ for the grand cru Furstentum of the less reputed vintage 2021! |
