About as good as an Erath Pinot blend can get. Acid has finally integrated a bit and a slight Oregon funk on the nose. Much better wines especially 08s were out there...regrets

Beginning to sour on Oregon pinot noir. With rising prices, it's not a value buy any more and beginning to feel it's overrated. Really lacking fruit at this stage, and too tannic. If it won't pair with Grimaldi's pizza, not sure what to pair it with. With three bottles left, hope it improves with a few more years.

Dark cherry, oak spice and brown sugar on the nose. Dark and sour cherries with a hint of earth in the mouth. Good mouthfeel. Acid and tannins are pretty well integrated at this point, but still feels relatively lively. Stylistically not in my wheelhouse but decent wine.

PnP. Clear, med purple color. Usual proper nose. A fine OR Pinot, more full bodied than most. Good balance, very proper taste, easy drinking, nothing off, good drinking window. Supurb value at $25.

Was not crazy about the first bottle (2 months ago) but the one we had tonight was very nice. Fair bit of acidity but it paired great with creamy turkey sauce on pasta. On its own, it tasted a bit confected.

Poor quality. Tastes like it was made by very young vines showing tart fruit taste, acidic & mineral flavors that does not warrant "estate selection" label . It takes effort to screw up a 2008 vintage wine and Erath has produced one of the few bad Oregon Pinot Noir wines from 2008

Dundee Hills Passport Tour (Dundee Hills, Oregon): Oregon funk shows on the nose along with some light cherry and red floral scents. Some heat shows later as well. The cherries show right away, and they're very straightforward. The acidity has a bit of an awkward feel to it. I really like the tart note that the acidity delivers on the mid palate. The oak is pretty even, but it doesn't feel too balanced with the fruit. It works, but the awkward feeling persists.

Popped and poured. Nice, deep, transparent blood-red color. Simple, fruit-laden nose that is very typical of the vintage, with a few spicebox notes thrown in. Full and fruity on the palate with very nice balancing acidity. Lacks complexity and stuffing but a delicious drink. Purchased from the winelist at Sybaris in Albany, Oregon to accompany house-cured wild boar ham with sweet potatoes and mustard cream sauce.

A little better than I remember, but pretty uninspired. I poured this wine blind because I knew it was mediocre and I wanted to set up another pinot that I knew was better. It worked.

Random tasting in the Willamette Valley with Ken: Pretty good for the price. Really quite nice up front fruit on the nose, some tart funky fruit. The palate is mild, some green nature, spicy fruits, tastes of whole cluster (though they say it is not). Tart lingering acid on the finish but not much evolution to bring this to the next level.

Fruit reaches the black cherry end of the spectrum, but the palate isn't terribly concentrated or challenging. Oak treatment doesn't seem heavy, but it's still too much for this limp wine. I thought this vintage had a nice dry harvest. This wine must just be overcropped. I've still never been impressed by an Oregon pinot at this price point, so judge for yourself.

Poured into glasses for 1 hour. Clear, deep red/purple color. Classic OR Pino nose. This is a bigger style wine for OR Pino. Very nice balance, lots of fruit on front and mid with a some nice tannins on finish. Well made, good balance, will easily hold for a few years but very drinkable now. One of the better NW Pino's as I lilke the bigger style. Nothing off.

Nice deep red fruit and black berry infused with spice. Good tannin and great, toasty oak on the back palate. It's a bigger, heavier style and very nicely structured. Really enjoyed it! - Tasted at winery 8/17/10

Given that 2008 is generally considered to be a blockbuster year for Oregon Pinot Noir, and also that Erath typically makes wines that excite my nose and taste buds, I was very anxious to try this wine.
I'm sorely disappointed. Other comments describing this wine as "cherry throat lozenge" are quite accurate. The wine has a buttery mouth-feel, which would be lovely on a smoother more complex wine.
Sad.

An Oregon Pinot Noir that tries to be a California-style heavily fruity Pinot Noir, and manages to fail at both camps.
