Really nice, crisp and fresh like I would expect from Blanc de blanc. But as it opens the denser or more fruit forward notes of the red varietals comes through. Very enjoyable and a great expression of champagne.
Clear, light yellow. Remarkably fine, persistent bubble column. Rounded on the palate. Really well balanced. Light “brown” toast. Lemon and citrus notes. Complex yet refreshing wine at this point in its life. Excellent. 93-94

Drinking on my daughter’s 18th birthday. Pale straw color, fine bubbles. Brioche and almond on the nose. Toasty, creamy, minerality on the palate. Holding up fairly well but would drink soon.

I’d purchased a couple of these back in 2012, and have been cellaring them since; I’ve been delinquent in opening one of these, until today….delicious, just drinking wonderfully.
Displays a medium gold color with excellent effervescence; small, persistent tiny bubbles throughout. Very complex and intense aromatics and flavors: brioche, nuttiness, cinnamon spiced red apple, tart raspberry, Meyer lemon, ripe peach, and ginger, underscored with a chalky mineral undertone. Rich and creamy mouthfeel with medium plus acidity providing liveliness and balance. Finishes long. Has plenty of life, should drink well for another 3-5 years. Outstanding.

This was balanced and rich, but a tad bit cloying and not as much finesse as I would hold for in a tete de cuveé, which is how I’ve felt about this bottling for a while, whereas the regular NV is pretty solid within its class

Good, with fleeting moments of very good. Seems at a good maturity level - for my palate, anyway. Still balancing freshness with richness of fruit, though I don't think I'd be cellaring these for the long run if said balance is something important to you, as well. recommended

Tried a little experiment of aging this one, seemed that this did not perform as well as the 94 I had back in 2012, but was still solid. A little hint of oxidation marred the palate so perhaps better for earlier consumption. I still love this wine and will pursue it in the future.

Opened for NYE 2020 —> 2021. This is deeper gold color with ripe apples on the nose. It seemed a bit flabby in the mouth. Overall, not bad, but more acid and focus would have added a lot. I look forward to better in the future. A fitting end to 2020, I suppose.

Very nice champagne, drinking very well now. It's on the sweeter side, maybe lacks a bit of acidity compared to others, but in line with the vintage and other champagnes of famous houses. Yeast and brioche on the nose, creamy and rich on the palate, excellent finish

Small bubbles. Fine bouquet of serious champagne. Flavors of yeast and mushroom combined with too-sweet tropical fruits. Not at all exceptional for vintage and price.

This is an exercise in balance and harmony right now; The aromas are quiet and reserved but ripe, featuring yellow orchard fruits, a distinct chalky minerality that conveys a petrichor impression with spring flowers and rainwater. Very pure and clean in style with a lightweight touch on the palate. As this opens up in the glass, you find a bit more brioche/yeasty complexity taking form but this is showing young (primary) today. Guessed this as a blanc de blancs when tasted blind. Very elegant and pure. Great showing!

Champagne - 100 Vintage and NV Champagne; 12/15/2015-12/15/2020: Wow, this bottle blew us a away, it was that good. Amazing nose of white fruit darjeeling tea leaves, brioche, caramel and some toast. It showed age but zero oxidative character which I hate so much in white wines and Champagne. Just wonderful, everyone loved it at this tasting dinner.

This is in a splendid spot right now. It’s still light, refreshing and crushable in the PJ-style and yet has a touch of added complexity thanks to some time in the cellar. In the glass, the color was light straw and the bubbles were lively. On the palate, bright citrus and white peach with a small touch of brioche; the slightest bit of nuttiness but just barely. Great minerals...again, in-line with the house style. Very well balanced. There’s a lot to like here. Paired very well with homemade Nashville Hot Chicken.

Same exact note from precisely one year ago, except this time we had it alongside steamed lobster with lemon, which perfectly balanced out the dosage. Great match!

Drinking fantastic right now!! Attractive caramel and apricot on the nose. Just the slightest bit of acid to compliment the light citrus flavors and more caramel on the finish. Love this vintage of PJ!! Enjoy with a fresh white fish ceviche.

Easy drinking. Impression of Sweetness but dry at the same time. Elegant and long. So enjoyable but not necessarily (technically) the most precise and tight champagne that money could buy for the same price.

Yeah, I know, big producer, probably overpriced, but damn if it wasn’t a really good drink. Showed fresh apple fruit up front along with a distinct toasty edge, and then deeper, richer tones on the back end, resulting in a fuller bodied wine than I was expecting. The addition of mature tones made it an interesting wine, and even if I would have preferred a little less dosage, the balance was really good with our buttery, salty popcorn.

My last bottle of 2004. This bubble never disappoints. A well structured finesse orientated bottle. It has softened since the last bottle i tasted. Less minerality and aggressiveness. It has lots of what you want. I don't think it will get much better than this (maybe marginally so).

750ml; PnP; Had at Mr. Wok with good friends. Very surprising aromas and flavors in this Champagne: ripe apples, a bit of funky earthiness. Might have been a bottle slight prematurely aged, but it was pretty awesome. I hope my other bottle comes out the same.

Evolving nose of citrus, lemon pie, green apple and some baking spice.
Medium bodied with high acidity and plenty of lemon pie, pie crust and some spice . Nice long refined finish.
Overall a great champagne , but I was surprised by the lack of evolution i.e. not a hint of oxidization or honeyed flavors and less autolytics than would be expected. No disgorgement information on the label- the bottle was purchased in New Orleans in 2013.
Given the above I suspect this wine can be held for another 5 years+ and will gain complexity.

No formal notes. The almost smokey flavors, toasted nuts and fresh brioche, apples and a touch of forest floor went lovely with the white truffles and parsnip we had with it. Luxuriously opulent but still so amazingly fresh.

My birthday today and had dinner with a friend whose wife shares the same day (different years though) in a Cantonese restaurant, so a Magnum is pulled out. Decanted and served. Intense nose of white flowers and fresh yeast, the mirabelle and pear lingers long in the mouth. Sumptuous, it matched well the cold giant mantis prawn poached in Xiaoshing wine sauce.

Good bottle. No formal notes taken, but I remember this as being very balanced and well made, with a mix mature notes from the chardonnay as well as added spice from the pinot. Well done, classical prestige bottle from a grande marque, but if I had to be critical, then I would say that it lacks a bit of personality. 93 points.

Clean, clear, light silvery gold. Tiny, beautiful bubbles. Brioche, nuttiness, caramel, some saltiness, hint of cotton candy on the nose Super dry, crisp, astringent, with great acidity, fresh green apples, gooseberry, good minerality, oyster shells.
What a wonderful bottle to enjoy now or lay down for years to come. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this special bottle for a special day.

Favorable comments from all five who tasted the wine. A great auction bottle for $85.

Champagne: Deg. fine/2012. Generoso di pasticceria, gesso, pasta di mandorla, cipria, confettura di fichi, creme brulèe. Ricco e ciccione. In bocca è dolcissimo con ritorni sapidi/freschi nel finale. Lungo su frutta secca e sale.

This straw-colored Champagne retains its lively, tiny bead. It has now developed more intensity and complexity on the nose, with floral, apple, quince, hazelnut and mineral aromas. Bright and mouthwatering on the palate, it has a backbone of crisp acidity to support flavors which mirror the nose. Solid in the middle, the wine concludes with a tangy, mineral-laden finish which seems to last forever. This tête de cuvée is now coming into its own. It is definitely one of the best bottlings from this producer during the past three decades (the time frame in which I have tasted every declared vintage on my wedding anniversary). Drink now-2025.

Opening wine for Christmas Eve dinner at Fleming's Steak House. Enjoyed by us and servers. Lots of tiny bubbles with a nice mousse as it showed a nose with a touch of honey, spring flowers, bread, and yeast with a hint of minerals on the nose, more of the same on the palate, served chilled but a touch warm so it opened immediately and remained terrific tasting for the next hour.

Enjoyable champagne. In a bit of a sweeter, prettier style with pear, raspberry and some grapefruit pith keeping the acids done well. More of an extra dry, that a full throttle brut. still some white florals, small bubbles in a very young light straw colored champagne, with tiny bubbles an enjoyable mousse and a medium finish. P-J is getting better, and more focused on the wine rather than so much focus on the bottle. Enjoyable, but probably not worth the $120 US as there are better alternatives. a good experience however.

because cheryl and i once had a nice bottle of this tete (maybe the 90), i want to like it. however each and every bottle since then (? 10 or so) have never soared. this, unfortunately, was no exception. small bead that was inconsistent. rather dull on the nose with just a bit of nice fruit and dough. flat feeling on the palate but certainly not oxidized. just flat with some fruit, some dough, some yeast and minimal nutty character. not much integration at all. can i say boring. finish is soft and short. me thinks im finished with the pj's.

This pale Champagne has a brisk tiny bead. White flowers, green apples, cardamom and wet stones define the nose as well as the light-to-medium-bodied, racy palate. The tart finish is lengthy. While currently pleasant, this tête de cuvée still needs time. Drink 1/15-12/25.

The Champagne was bright light golden in colour, with fine perlage. To my surprise it lost its perlage within minutes. The sparkling wine offered pear, white peach and cigarette tobacco on the nose; and ripe pear, white peach and tobacco on the palate. It was medium-bodied and very balanced, with medium-level acidity, a very nice, slightly creamy mouthfeel, and phenomenal length. A very elegant Champagne that further improved with air. I liked it quite a bit.

Le Grand Tasting; 11/30/2012-12/1/2012 (Carrousel du Louvre, Paris): I wasn't impressed by the regular cuvée from this domain but what a disappointment when it came to the Belle Epoque! This champagne cost 100+€ and I would not give more than 20€ for it... Not impressive at all.

2012 K&L Annual Champagne Event (K&L San Francisco Store): K and L Champagne Event. Lovely perfume on the nose, bright gold in the glass, citrus, gala apple, spice, and exotic fruit on the nose make this a great start and the palate is more of the same, concentrated and elegant, ready to drink and enjoy now. a real pleasure to taste.
Pale yellow colour with an incredible amount of small tiny bubbles. On the nose it's a youthful smell of sea shells that gives very nice feelings. On the nose there's a lot of minerals and citrus fruits, but the balance is a bit of and the aftertaste disappears very quickly.
It feels like the selection of grapes hasn't been completely optimal this year. Hopefully it will integrate better with bottle storage.

Dinner with Monthly Group at Yantra (Yantra, Tanglin Mall): Still very young, but I thought this was immensely enjoyable - it should make a lovely Champagne in time. It had a really pretty nose of sweet apples and gentle floral notes underlined by a stony, minerally accent. Nice. The palate came across as very youthful and primary, but very fine, with a great sense of focus and definition to its clear, precise white fruited flavours, with sweet apple flesh at the fore. It is unsurprisingly still rather simple, but already very yummy. A good, longish finish with a gentle stream of stony mineral rounded the wine off. This is a very elegant Champagne, made in a fine, silky style that I really enjoy. While good now, it really should come into its own in about 5 to 6 years' time. The easiest and probably least complicated of the three wines on show tonight, but probably my favourite.

Enjoyed this for our 2 yr anniversary in Maui. Nice straw color in glass with fine but not very impressive beads. Nose offers nice autolytic character - yeast and bready aromas with citrus and green apple skin. Not sure what blend the cuvée Belle Époque is but the wife and I were leaning toward Blanc de Blancs based on the palate - laser sharp with bright citrus, tart apple, and yeast. Mousse is a bit underdeveloped at this stage. Would try the 2004 again but not anytime soon. Needs more time.

2004 champagne horizontal (110 Taillevent London): Middle of fairway, pleasant and fresh. Would be good for a standard vintage champagne but you do wish for more from a prestige cuvee.

Drinking fantastic right now!! Attractive caramel and apricot on the nose. Just the slightest bit of acid to compliment the light citrus flavors and more caramel on the finish. Love this vintage of PJ!! Enjoy with a fresh white fish ceviche.

Beautiful golden appearance.

Well done, classical prestige bottle from a grande marque, but if I had to be critical, then I would say that it lacks a bit of personality. 93 points.

Syran är något svag och dosagen känns lite för hög. Det här är inte ett dåligt vin, det är väldigt lättdrucket men lämnar inte så mycket mer intryck.

I believe this to be 'too new' to drink - will definitely stand the test of time. Tight and tart with citrus forwards and bread finish. Mild yeasts and almost no floral notes.

The Laird Wines Dinner (Imperial Treasure, Great World City): Bright and clear with fine beautiful beads. It has an aromatic nose, with pear, nutty, hints of creaminess and showing chard influence nose. Very fresh and young with silky mouthfeel, elegant and touch of feminine. Nice flavour of pear and nuttiness. Fine acidity with long aftertaste. I enjoyed it a lot although I still prefer something more intense like Cristal.

Explosive nose with yellow plums and lemon soda but also some creme fraiche and vanilla bean.
Huge intensity on the palate filled with yellow plums and an impressive green apple acidity. A hint of lemon peal. Full bodied and with a slight sweetness.
A bottle I really enjoyed. 93-94p

This medium yellow bubbly sports a brisk tiny bead and shows very intense aromas of marzipan, peaches, and white flowers. Light-to-medium-bodied on the palate, with nice acidity and flavors mirroring the nose. The middle palate is solid and the crisp finish is long. Very nice now, but patience will be rewarded. Drink 1/15-12/25.

Bright yellow. Not very bready compared to many other champagnes. Very round and smooth - extremely good.
