(Disgorged in mid-1990s, 100% Chardonnay) Lovely amber colour still showing some fine bubbles slowly rising in the glass with a mature nose showing honey, butterscotch caramel and lime citrus flowers and with extended time in the glass it shows a delicious creamy note. Lime juicy acidity on the mature palate combined with butterscotch notes and with a creaminess on the mid before dried up fruit takes over on the intense and lengthy finish. This vintage has matured quickly, but still hanging in with a refreshing acidity and with dosage to back it up still.. (Best 2006-2021)

I always really enjoy this wine. Glad to see we have one more left. In perfect drinking window right now. Not sure this is going to continue to improve, but if you like aged champagne (so more nutty and caramelized edges) then this is just great. Still had bubbles! And some nice acid.

Celebrating the beg of the 'quasi-vacation' (since there's a lot of work calls going at the same time. I love old champagne. It's a pity it's gotten so expensive. This still had a bit of fizz, a touch of oxidation, very carmelized, and really just fun and tasty.

Wine in the time of Corona Virus - Quarantining in NYC & NH; 3/7/2020-9/1/2020 (NYC/NH): Memorial Day in Bryant Park - our first socially distanced picnic with NYC friends we have not seen since February. This was their generous contribution and a lovely way to kick off the beautiful sunny afternoon. The nose is quite oxidized, but the wine is still very much alive. Super toasty, caramelized brioche, toasted honey, bubbles are barely there but the depth of flavor is lovely. I really dig old champagne and this was a thoroughly enjoyable!

Celebratory bottle because this is the first time that we've done an in-person hang out with friends since all of the craziness started. To be fair, all socially distanced and outside and lots of sanitizer and wipes and all of that, but still. We saw actual people not on a screen. Which meant it was time to pull something really fun. Warm Memorial day so what's better than aged bubbles? I don't think this is really the best year for champagne, but I still love the old ones. Not much of a pop to the cork. This is lightly effervescent still wine. The sugars have started to caramelize down a bit. It was lovely.

Mature golden color, very little visible bubbles left, an almost Burgundian nose of butterscotch, nuts and white fruit. Ah but with the first sip one is slapped with an burst of effervescence and acidity that got my attention. Mature chardonnay flavors at its core wrapped in, and balanced by a lively acidity and fine mousse which surprised me. I do not have much experience with older champagne but I found this bottle of fully mature BdB just delicious.

Beautiful, fully mature nose with oxidative notes of truffle, roasted apple and minerality. Broad, open palate with good acidity to keep this balanced and still fresh. Great stuff.

drank it to the 70th birthday of my dad 01/12/2008. First time to drink a maturated champagne. In my notes I wrote dark golden colour, few bubbles, tastes like a whisky, I guess I meant oxidative. Even it was a new taste for me I liked it. I gave a 8 out of ten. Brilliant. I would like to drink it again.

Always a little nervous opening a 24-year-old champagne, and more nervous when it's from a good-but-not-great vintage. I think I had a taste of this four years back, and it showed nice age then (but that may have been an '85). So, anyway, this bottle was a magnum, and it completely erased my worries. It was young-looking and bright in color, still a persistent and very fine bead. Lemon and biscuit on the nose; apple, fresh pear, and citrus flavors in the mouth with just a little pie crust notes. Relatively light-bodied, extremely elegant, with a medium-length finish. J. says it was the best champagne we've ever had; I can think of a couple I liked better, but I thought it was a phenomenal bottle.

Elegant, creamy and beautifully proportioned. Fresh citrus, pear and brioche notes with a little toasty development. Great frothy mousse in the mouth and a long, precise, minerally closure.

Turns out that this one bottle was a rose. It was totally shot. This happens with some auction buys. Best la vie!

Deeper orange/gold colour than the 90. No mousse left. Clearly past it on the nose and palate quite torrefied too.
