50th Birthday Winefoolishness (Chicago, IL): Late night pop n' pour bonus bottle. Nose shows very well on opening a ton of spice and black cherry. Youthful and fresh palate. More sexy Vosne spice on the palate.

50th Birthday Celebration Dinner with Wine (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Late night pop-and-pour. Red fruit with Asian five spice start-to-finish. Very good concentration. Still firm with a few sharp elbows, but that's 1995. Very tasty. The last time I had this wine was over 10 years ago, and I think it was from the same person/ case. I enjoyed it much more tonight.

Dallas 2nd Wednesday Group - July 2010 (Urbano's in Dallas, TX): Tasted non blind at a wine dinner. Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass. slightly dusty looking. Nose of orange peel, smoke, a hint of pepper and a hint of leather. Flavors of tart berries and a hint of cherries. Medium acidity, tannins and body. Drink or hold.

Light red color with browning at the edges. Aromas of mulberries, raspberries, leather and spices. Sweet, ripe fruit in the mouth with very good complexity, depth and length but with a touch of oxidation in the finish. Excellent acidity made this wine enjoyable despite being a little past its prime. Drink up!

A Grand Evening...with Grands-Echezeaux (Kevin Restaurant, Chicago IL): Medium color. Good black fruit on nose and palate, just a trace of spice. Tannins are subtle and well integrated for a 1995. Quite overt acidity that isn't quite as harmonious. Moderate length, which also seems a bit angular. I'd hold for a few more years but I'm not sure this will get more balanced.

Medium red purple color. Medium clean aroma of red fruit and a hint of acidity . Nice medium black cherry fruit on the palate with a firm dustry tannic finish. Decent acidity. May actually benefit from another couple years. Unlikely ever to be truly ethereal. 11/04 Full red purple color. Full aroma of red fruit and kids orange flavored chewable vitamin C. Big ripe (overripe?) black blueberry fruit with a tight long finish. 91 pts. 4/06

Jordan Whitehead Organizes a Great (Mostly) Burgundy Dinner (Boka - Chicago IL): Spice and floral aromas with red fruits, Certainly enjoyable nose, slightly less exciting flavors come across as not perfectly harmonious. Much better with food than on its own.

Still youthful, but starting to develop secondary notes of sous bois and soy. Large framed with good balance and a medium finish.
