Better than previous tasting 15 months ago. Though similar notes, this bottle showed more complexity and a beautiful finish. Big, deep, rich dark berry fruit in the nose and flavor, with black raspberries, blackberries, and spice. Nice structure, full-bodied, and a long finish.

I forgot about this fruit bomb for 8 years, but it's still a fruit bomb. Slight smoke/pepper on the nose, with fruit not completely revealing itself until the sip, which punches you in the face with raspberry notes and lasts forever. Might smooth out even more if you have patience.

A blockbuster wine. Huge blackberry, cherry, and oak vanilla. Sweet on the palate. This holds up well with spicy stew or pizza with red pepper. A bit hot on the back but the fruit surrounds it with balance. It's ready!! Sorry I don't have another one.

45 minute decant. Deep garnet to purple but also somewhat translucent with a little bricking at the edge. Nose of smoke, red tart cherry, blackberry and alcohol. Interesting taste, not nearly as sweet as most California Zinfandel I've had recently. Starts with some cola and mixed berries, allspice and then finishes like sweet tarts. Silky mouthfeel but with medium acidity. Pretty low tannins. Not what I expected but I like it.
Gets sweeter, smoother and with less acidity as it decants. Best after the 3 hour mark.

Medium color, nose is muted with strong alcohol. Intense red and blue fruit that is fairly well balanced throughout. Pepper finish is present but gentle. Soft texture to the palate. Tertiary flavors have set in. This wine still has massive fruit but tastes like it has more age on it.

A nose of dark fruits and spice, dark purple in color. A full bodied Zin blend, with jammy black cherry, blackberry, licorice and pepper and spicy long finish, as all LC’s wines great stuff. In a great drinking zone. www.winelx.com

I am doing this from memory five days after the BBQ. Outstanding wine, all sorts of flavors, one after the other. Very long finish. On a warm day, most went to white wine, until someone commented on how good this was. Next thing you know the bottle was gone. The biggest memory (aside from the long finish) was the wonderful balance.

Initially had sans food, then a smidge with dinner (as poorly paired with Indian curry), and upshifted after dinner again. Wow. Full throttle indeed. Big nose with some heat. On the palate, a huge zin bomb with heavy wood as well (I know Trevisan has evolved towards concrete in a lot of his wines, so perhaps I am wrong, but that is what it tastes like to me). Heavily extracted. I disagree with prior posts re viscosity, not much of it at all, the mouth feel is average. And the wine is all about the attack. It has a meager mid palate and no finish to speak of other than perhaps some lingering heat. Mid-weight, great acids. Mild, integrated tannins. If you are a zin hound, this is the wine for you. Given the price point, better buys.

Served this to some non-wine friends over dinner. Just goes to show how my tastes have changed. They said it was the best wine they ever had...I found it to be just too much. Nicely done for what it is but I've gone elsewhere. I will say it's one of the better Linne's in a while.

Medium dark ruby to magenta. Noticeably viscous. Explosive full throttle blackberry jam, like typical paso turned up to 11. Like a chocolate covered dried blueberry with perfumes of molten pie crust and compote. Taste is polished and professional, maybe a touch too jammy, but held in check by elegant winemaking. Finish lasts and coats and leaves you wanting more with dazzling acids. Very smooth, perhaps drinking at prime. An excellent effort from Linne, reminder why west Paso is the king of Zinfandel.

Zinfandels on a Saturday Afternoon (Loretta Paganini School of Cooking): Great wine. My WOTN. Wonderful nose of black raspberries, bramble, grilled meat and spice. Very smooth and enticing texture. Black raspberry fruit on the palate with some bramble. This is big and full throttle but within bounds. Great acidity to balance it off. Textbook California Zinfandel for me (although its 80% Zin).

Criticized this wine several months ago for its lack of structure so I decanted it this time 10 hours prior to consuming. This unleashed acid just short of throat searing creating an imbalance against very light tannin and vitalizing overripe raspberry toned fruit.

Poppd and poured then consumed over two nights. Bright, assertive raspberry / plum fruit in a dominating zinfandel offering. The structure is tenuous, just short of flabby, which cheapens the experience.

This is between a Neutral and "I like it" Rating. Not much depth in this wine, but it was very sweet and frequently compared to a Port, but without the viscosity.
The wine opened up as it was consumed, and it was enjoyed, but not seen as being complex. Imagine a nonviscous Port without the Brandy aftertaste/burn

PnP at dinner with sister. She served North African spiced pork tenderloin. The Outsider presented with a lovely fruity nose. The taste was full and flavored with plums and dark sweeter cheeries. It was not sweet in flavor had a decent finish with a classic "bite" one expects for a good Zin.

Dark, saturated color. Ripe raspberry fruit with noticeable spiciness. Loads of fruit but balanced by a touch of earth and leather on the finish. Some additional structure from the syrah/mourvedre but overall a low acid/low tannin style with nice varietal characteristics. Drinking very well now.

- Winemaker Matt Trevisan has hit a home run with this 80% Zinfandel, 17% Syrah, 3% Mourvèdre. Not the Rhone blend he is know for but a very smooth wine considering how fruit forward it is. Incredible dark red fruits on the nose and just the right amount of spice on the palette. A little earthy and not very tannic. Great mouthfeel. Jammy in a good way. One of the best wines I have ever had, therefore the 96. Too bad there is no more of this vintage left for purchase. Hopefully the '11 will be as good.

Tasting the heavyweights in Paso (Westside Paso Robles): 80% Zinfandel with Syrah and Mourvedre. Earthy black pepper and blackberry aromas. Wild brambly fruit flavors, rich and ripe with savory peppery depth. Polished feel with fine grainy tannin and a medium-full finish.
