This was quite nice, though not as fresh and delicious as previous time that I had it. Rich fruit, very smooth, somewhat modern. I would drink up if you have them though.

Outstanding CC Riserva... Notes of dark cherry, blackberries, leather, cedar and tobacco. Very balanced with smooth tannins and a long finish. Very close to it's prime but can easily go another 5 yrs in the cellar.

Last vintage before the Gran Seleziome desgination was added. 1.5 hour decant, phenomenal at this stage, palate offered earth tones, minerals, dried fruit. Gave off a bit of a brunello vibe. Can surely go for a few more years

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #113; Italy: Chianti Classico Riserva (By BS): Beautiful and luxurious bouquet with earth, tobacco, cedar and some pleasant barnyard. On the palate ripe dark berries, smoke, plums, licorice, laurel, coffee and beautiful oak. Beautiful acidity and slightly drying tannin. Elegant power in the glass. Ready now and a few years to go. Great wine!

45 minute decant. Big dark cherry with some hints of leather and licorice. The tannins and acidity have a really nice structure and provide a rich mouthfeel at the back end. A lovely lingering finish. This is a really good wine with a lot of promise for the next several years.

Fresh out of bottle: ruby-red with some garnet on the rim to a dark garnet in the center. Red fruit, raspberry and strawberry on the nose, a bit of coconut fragrance, new oak. Chalky tannin, light-medium acidity. Medium alcohol.

As this was being poured into the decanter its fruity quality gave off a strong rasberry-juice aroma that almost remided me of a kids' fruit-juice box. It smelled great....but seemed too much. But it calmed down quickly and after about 30 minutes of air everything came together. And earthy aromas and tastes (leather, predominantly for me) appeared to balance out the fruit. Noticeable tannins and acidity but both in balance. A wonderful, subtle finish that lasts quite a while. Nice wine. Should be great in a couple years.

I echo everything "EMTAME" said below. If I could get this for $25-30, I'd have a few cases instead of a few bottles. Even at $45, it seamlessly balances easy drinking with complexity and nuance.
I really like this. A nice midpoint between traditional and modern chianti, with ample but not excessive fruit, a mix of red and darker fruits, and just enough structure and acidity to keep it all in balance. If it was $25 instead of $40, I'd own a bunch more.

Très bon chianti. Sangiovese facilement reconnaissable dans le verre. Saveur de cuir et de cerise. Belle trame tannique et une petite amertume très agréable en finale. Léger dépôt au fond de la bouteille. Vin qui se boit tout seul. Ferait très bonne figure avec une pizza napolitaine ou avec du proscuitto. RQP ***(1/2) étant donné les 40aine de $ demandé pour la bouteille.

Dark ruby. Expressive nose of cherry, cherry jam, sweet spices, coffee and earthy scents. Medium-bodied, round, soft and balanced with a med-long aftertaste. Modern-style Chianti Classico, very enjoyable and fruit-forward but absolutely food-friendly. Drinks nicely but could last for another 10 years.

2nd Gastronomy Fair 2014; 3/30/2014-3/31/2014 (Intercontinental Hotel): Clear deep garnet color. The nose is clean, med intensity, red berry aromas, with some coffee beans, rich and youthful. The wine is dry, med+ body and intensity, med alcohol and acidity, med tannins, rich red fruit flavors, ripe cherry, mineral, spicy cinnamon and nutmeg in the med+ finish. Very good quality, premium price, drinking now but can hold.

Should improve with age, but right now acidity and tannins overpower the fruit. This is obviously old school Chianti Classico, but currently it lacks elegance. If you do drink it now let it breathe 2-4 hours before approaching.

Cellier Wine Fair (Atheneum Intercontinental Hotel, Athens, Greece.): A great showing for this, especially given the mediocricy of the vintage. Very expressive on the nose with ripe and candied cherry, esspresso roast and earthy minerality. On the palate it is of medium+ body with firm tannins, multi-layered fruit and medium to high acidity. Long aftertaste. Great Chianti Classico.
