Out of mag. This was exceptional. Best ever version of this. Perfect, energy, complexity, chiseled, with wonderful saltiness. Striking almost-Riesling like petrol nose. Really grew and developed over 1.5 hrs open. Has years to go in this format.

Good showing. Wonderful mineral depth and structure. Nice acidity. In a very good spot right now between complexity and vibrancy. Doesn't have lemon and citrus quality of younger bottles of this. NB: first bottle opened was oxidative and we put aside.

Lovely vintage of this great wine that is still a few years short of peak. Quite viscous but also light on its feet with tingly acidity and delicious flavors of subtle tropical fruits, minerals and fresh seawater. Quite salty and grippy on the finish with a very fine intensity and tip of the tongue complexity.

Very elegant and intense. Glycerol and phenolic on first opening. Definitely retained structure thought. Intense minerality. Less seashells and lemon and bright fruit than usually find in these wines.

another lovely bottle, very mineral, citrus and ocean characteristics, improves with time in the glass. Very enjoyable wine for those who like a dry white with serious structure.

better with a little more time - it has a sea breeze, mineral character, good structure, should last. I would like to be drinking this on the slopes of Mount Etna looking out on the Mediterranean

The wine is clear, med yellow color. The wine is clean, med/med+ intensity, mineral, quite close to a Aussie Riesling without the petrol nuance, apple hints, ripe tropical notes too, pineapple and ripe pear, acidity and roundness in the same time, almost like apple in syrup, developing if not developed. The wine is dry, med/med+ body, med+ intensity, the acidity is med+ if not high, med alcohol, green fruit and also tropical, pear and pineapple, lemon leaves, lime (juice & skin), ripe red apple nuance, still youthful, balanced, intense, steely long finish. Outstanding quality, premium price, drinking now but will hold.
Wine of the night for me, like a great Santorini and Riesling, fantastic wine

Etna Erupts Again Wine Tasting: Medium straw colour. Minerality-dominated nose with flintstone and sandstone alongside beeswax, citrus fruit, green apple. Medium-bodied, vibrant, combining elements indicating some evolution with freshness and crisp. High acidity and long aftertaste. Could age much further. Reminded me of a top Santorini assyrtiko, but this seems to evolve at a slower pace.

Light hay in color, nose is enticing, subtle fruit with a sense of crushed stones and hint of anise; on the palate is a wine light enough to float on air, but with a delicate intensity and depth of flavor that weaves through a multitude of complex layers: notes of apple skin, anise, stone fruit, roasted nuts, granite, all beautifully balanced with moderate acidity, and a lengthy, mineral finish. Really lovely.
Update a couple hours later: this continues to show better and better, like a cross between a Trimbach Frederic Emile, and a great vintage Chablis Les Clos. Amazing quality.
Just finished the bottle, showing more saline, and just fabulous length and minerality on the finish.

Pale young appearing color. Very primary but delicious and complex even now. Full on citrus nose, lemon and orange. Lots of minerals too. Nice texture with great acidity but also some decent body/glycerin. Finishes with a nutty almond and fennel licorice note.
Great with shrimp pan fried with olive oil, lemon zest and garlic.
Loved this. Volcanic grown Carricante from 950 meters on Mt Etna.

Sydney Italian Wine Festival - Etna Masterclass: Graphite, sea spray and lemon curd on the nose. Rich on the palate - more so than on the nose. Medium length with some grip on the finish. Interesting wine.

Klar strågul med grønnskjær. Noe lukket på nese. Steinete, med hvit pære,sitrus, epler og hint av honning. Frisk inngang med en noe hard fruktkjerne. Lett sødme og noe oljete struktur. Spiss syre. Lang mineralsk avslutning. Bør få ligge litt. 89-90 P

Ordered off list at Esca. Squeaky clean like Chablis but without the leesy quality. The "marine" in its name came through with a saline finish. Lots of minerality of the volcanic persuasion. An interesting bottle that asked for a bit of contemplation.

Lunch with Salvino Benanti (Benanti Winery, Etna, Sicily): Much fresher than yesterday's '07; ripe, well-structured and aging into a certain smoothness. Sea breeze.
