Nose: white flower, tangerine oil, pear, lemon custard, honey Notes: 13.5% ABV. Tasted together with the Les Charmes from same vintage. A typical nose of the Domaine with elegant pear and white flowers. I think the Charmes outperformed the Gouttes d'or significantly, while this showed a good nose I feel the palate lacks definition and finesse. Can't help but feel a little disappointed in this as I would typically expect a bit more from this premier cru especially from this maker. This wine shows a bit more advancement than the Charmes from the same vintage thus should be quite ready for consumption now. Drink: now+ Rating: 89

Mid-gold appearance Waxy nose, notes of honey and cinder toffee, but clean. Bruised apples, all sorts of oils, lemon citrus, and lots of hazelnut. Only a hint of oxidation, mainly nice evolution IMO. Rich, almost viscous and vinous attack, very intense with lovely tingly acidity and lots of mineral intensity. More fino/nuttiness (I often think of singed hair), but perfectly reasonable levels, more honey and hazelnut, and a cordial intensity of apple fruit. Very mineral and stony. Possibly a little pinched towards the finish, there is some heat, but the intensity is super and there are some very long-lasting flavours of butterscotch, banana, and pineapple. Considering the customer found this faulty, and it has been open for a good few days, it was excellent.

Popped and poured. Shows very advanced development and is likely near the end of its peak drinking plateau. Very deep, dark golden yellow with big legs. Excellent nose with lovely grilled nuts providing the telltale scent, and very fine chalky notes. Lays out expansively across the palate, creamy yet tart, and full of perfectly mature Chardonnay fruit. An excellent value; wish I had more. 5-13-17-8: 93/100.

Gorgeous Meursault--stunning, even, in its purity. Starts off looking the part, with an oily, burnished golden yellow hue. The nose grabs you and takes you in, right off the bat, with lovely, very pure chalky limestone and a distinctive nuttiness that screams Meursault. That leads right into similar character in the mouth, with a beautiful mouthfeel, silky but rich, round but characterful. Literally fills the palate to every corner with vibrant, rich fruit. Not fat, its well-balanced but very flavorful. If they ever make a Meursault a grand cru, this would have my vote. Long, pretty finish that lasts and lasts, with a nice stony element coming in the end. I immediately checked to see if there was any more for sale in the States, alas the word is already out on this and I couldn't find any more. Glad I bought two bottles at purchase. I will hold onto my second bottle for a few more years to see whether it improves any further, as it shows no signs of fading. 5-14-18-9: 96/100.

Surprisingly rich and with a good amount of fruit for the vintage. A very nice wine with fine acidity. Not heavy but definitely ripe and extracted. Suffered being next to the 2014 PYCM Charmes.

belle couleur doré; aucune trace d'oxydation. Nez très pure de fleurs blanches, de notes minérales avec un peu de miel. Bouche vaporeuse mais avec une belle densité; impression de salinité. Ce vin a atteint son plateau

Fantastic stuff. Mineral driven, dense, but never heavy or ponderous. Great acidity works with the dusty gravel notes to help work through some rich pear and apple flavors. Warm oak never intrudes, just seems to gracefully frame some lemon candy flavors. All in all, awesome stuff.

93 pts

2003 Burgundy Dinner (Nicolas Restaurant, Teck Lim Street, Singapore): Painfully young, but nice. This was a very competent 1er Cru indeed. The nose still had a touch of woodiness to it, before sweetly perfumed aromas of cream, flowers and ripe white fruit drifted out. Lovely stuff. The palate still held a lot of the vibrant acidity and tingly acidity of youth, with bright flavours of lemon curd and green apples coated with a layer of cream. Very Meursault. The finish ended up with a nice citrus lick and just that little hint of minerality - like sucking on a wet stone.

Starts with savory spice, summer flowers and apple aromas. Apple and quince flavors with very good weight without any unnecessary fat, ending in a lean, energetic finish. Very good now with upside from here.

92 pts

More intensely white blossom, lovely fresh floral nose; superb palate, really concentrated, has an extra dimension compared to the other 1er Crus. Excellent - very long. 91-94

Apple and pear, slightly floral, nicely rich with good weight and density. Popped-and-poured, this kept unfolding in glass. Very good now.
