Cork. 13% alc. Double decanted and resealed with the cork 12 hours before serving. Rich, dark, black fruits mingle with chocolate, sweet dried herbs, graphite. It’s medium to full framed, well balanced, with a swathe of fine tannins. Still rather primary, but opened well in the glass.

Straight out of the bottle, a lot of dark fruit, good texture, quite civilized this Turque and would probally please many ... certainly more than me ... not so oaky as they can be so that was positive ... it drinks ok, but not much more, sorry but competition is tough and there are so many good wines around for less money, this is over priced like the Hermitage La Chapelle, and top Chapoutier, for me it seems like the best Cornas's & best Cote Rotie's have run by these wines .. by far .. or perhaps it's just me getting old ... older :) Drink 2024-2030

Glorious Waterside Inn (The Waterside Inn, Bray): Decanted and served. We rarely cross paths with La Las this young, we cherish and save them for older age but every now and then we get these joyful events when we try them youngish. This is now at the start of its drinking window but ever so welcoming and beautiful. Still very much fruit driven but starting to show secondary side and evolution, not heat that full on smoky well evolved La La but still ever so savoury, dark fruited and beautiful wine. Impressively balanced and elegant as expected from the pedigree and terroir. Exceptional albeit at the start of its journey. 94 for now but more to come.

Blackish ruby color. Decanted and aerated for an hour then drank over another hour. Nose of blackberries, sweet spices, plums and licorice. On the palate still young but open, medium bodied, lots of forward dark spicy fruits, finishes on a bitter chocolate note with subtle tannins. Very well structured.

Guigal w/ Patrick Will: Cote Brune, the schist gives smoke to the wines. Guigal is the only producer of La Turque. again 42m, 100% new, acquired in 1980 when they bought Vidal Fleury. there will be a new LaLa in 2022 - La Renard here, less mushroom than the 2011 La Mouline, with more dark fruit available too

Still a baby, and at least 5 years away in my estimation. Even after a 6 hour decant, this wasn't showing off much, with faint notes of black raspberry, black pepper, and smoked brisket not quite firing. The potential is there to fill out.

Fabulous maturity and currently in a great drinking window! Very elegant, complex aromas of blackberries, sous bois, leather and coffee. Super long finish!

Decanted 2 hours. Aromas leap out. Black cherry, licorice, iron, plum. Silky in the mouth. It’s fresh, concentrated and intense, with good length. Open for business, with lots left for future development.

Sommelier Appreciation Dinner 2020 (The Brown Residence): Still way too young. Primary blue fruit, beacon fat, ash, liquid smoke and earth. Very good concentration, slightly coiled blue fruit, medium acidity and mineral, and a long concentrated blue fruit driven finish. Still needs a decade or more. Perhaps the weakest vintage?

Deep ruby... lovely fragrant aromas of red currents, tea, spice cake. Supple and warm, delicious fruit in a velvety robe, fantastic minerality. Really a nice wine, drinking well now, could garner 96-97pts at peak.

A bold nose with a deep roasted note, some cocoa and a herbal character that was not present on the palate. It was thick and full bodied and showing very dark fruits. Long already but not showing a lot of dimension yet. I found this quite muted today, but clearly of very high quality. I would hold for a good while yet before opening.

1967 Dinner with FV and Friends: Very pretty aromas - violets, roses, red cherry and a splash of black pepper across the nose and palate. Really bright on the palate as well, with a great mix of power and precision within the fruit. Classy stuff. Felt like it was quite approachable, but certainly would benefit from more time.

Guigal "La La's" with Brett Crittenden (Glengarry Wines and Spirits, Victoria Park, Auckland, New Zealand): The La Turque is kind of a half-way house in style, between the La Mouline and La Landonne, in this vintage. This is a darker wine with a darker and granite nose than the La Mouline, but it shares with that wine a certain degree of suppleness and a forward a nature. Hints of deep plums and sur maturite. This is a vin de garde - firmer, more backward with more apparent oak. An extraordinary wine, this is the plummiest of the three cuvees and offers a kind of amalgamation of the styles. 95+

Still 5-10 years to early. Took 1,5 hours in the glass to come around, but a great wine is sitting there ready to come out one day.
