Bottle#3! On nose and palate: very consistent notes from bottles #1 and #2 , last Autumn....rich, mineral laden, nutty ( Meursault- like) with ripe apple and lemon notes, and judiciously woven oak/ vanilla.....stellar at 10 years of age.

Bottle #2 of this wine.... On nose and palate: all notes consistent with bottle #1 last week.....with more pronounced hazelnut notes , softer acidity , and muted minerality, blind tasted with a friend at dinner:...first guess, a Meursault...could not disagree, but the higher alcohol and less complex mineral notes , say otherwise.....not a bad substitute, though...at half the price.

Right up there with Ramey Russian river , and even Mayacamas( which is twice the price!). On nose: vibrant , rich notes of buttered , roasted almonds, fresh apples and a hint of lemon peel. On palate: all above notes accounted for, in addition to a great balance of acidity, judicious oak and creamy malolactic notes....the stony minerality chimes in and adds a great equilibrium....and as it warms up , white floral and green peach flavours expand on the palate...surprised that this clocks in at 14.5% alcohol....superbly balanced with no excess heat...almost Burgundian in complexity ...and very fresh ...at 9 years of age....can age for a few more years Great foil for roast chicken , haricots vert and basmati rice this evening.

Not as good as the bottle I had a few months ago. The palate was dominated by toasted oats and tropical fruit. It was okay but just not my style. Half the wine went into the broth for a pot of mussels i was making

Drinking really well at 8 years old. Citrus flowers on the nose. The palate was lemon, apple, peach and oak. The finish was moderate and crisp. Served alongside our main course of Thai Red Snapper.
Talbott is one of the best wineries in the Santa Lucia Mountains and one of the few California wineries where the Chardonnays are arguably the greatest wines they make. Medium yellow with aromas of flowers, lemon oil, and light butter. Very impressive and complex first sip with vivacious lemon acidity, delicious squeezed lemon fruit, and lemon zest. Richly juicy, lushly mouth coating texture, and near endlessly long aftertaste.

A hint reductive upon opening but it blows off almost immediately, leaving behind flinty, tropical notes of pineapple, Meyer lemon, and a kiss of toast. It's so juicy and long, perfectly balanced, with an oily mouthfeel and lovely bottle age ripeness. The flavors are a touch candied and linger nicely on the taut finish. This is worth the effort to find it.

Light yellow to yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of hazlenut, vanilla, creme and yellow pear. Flavors of creme, vanilla and lemon curd. Medium acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink now.
Once again I'm pretty sure this is one of the two bottles I contributed to this tasting. I've had this wine before.
My guess was this is New World, California, Chardonnay, Santa Lucia Highlands, 2015 Talbott Sleepy Hollow.

Pale yellow with a shade of green. Strongly aromatic, with lemon, lemon peel, and butter. The sip leads with delicious and refreshing lemon acidity, and then eases into a softer mouth feel edged with creamy avocado, lemon fruit, and a hint of yeast. Very tasty and enjoyable combination of punchy citrus and oily smoothness.

Think Robinson's team got this one right. Attack of very sweet fruit on the entry, then some complexity appears (lees, stone fruit, hint of nut) followed by a relatively short finish. This was not well integrated, but did like enough to drink the whole bottle.

Another winner from one of my favorite Chardonnay vineyards. Great nose of lemon curd, green apple, white peach, and spicy oak. On the palate, oak dominates right now but there is a ton fruit lurking in there as well with nectarine, lemon curd, and pear. Long racy finish. I would hold these for a year or two to let the oak integrate at little better. The future is very bright for this wine, very glad I bought more.

*If you like ONLY un-oaked Chardonnays, stop reading now* One of the best Chardonnays we have had in a long time. Straw-colored and the nose & taste were pungent pineapple and grapefruit with a dollop of honey and butter. The acidity, alcohol level and the oak were all integrated well into a thoroughly enjoyable and luscious/elegant wine. Great quaffer, but it went well with Alaskan King Crab Legs with dipping in ghee, given the acidity - great seafood wine. Drinking perfectly now.

Pale gold color with a transparent edge. The nose is perfumed with notes of lemon peel, white flowers and mild toasted caramel/toffee. The palate is brighter compared to other vinateges that tend to be buttery. Flavors of smoked orange, pear, green apple skin, caramel, and toasted wheat form the core. Finishes with hints of mineral salts and citrus. Drink now until 2022.

Golden color. Nose: lemon curd, pineapple core, melon rind, and white peach with accents of orange blossom, nutmeg, cardamon, vanilla wafer, hazelnut, popcorn, toasted meringue, and river stone. Medium body on the palate: lemon/lime curd, green apple, white peach, and pineapple core framed by popcorn, toasted meringue, white pepper, nutmeg, hazelnut, lime zest, and river stone. Medium+ acidity. Lingering green apple skin, lime zest, hazelnut, and river stone on the moderate/shorter finish. Well made, balanced, and versatile. Pair with all kinds of baked/grilled white fish, creamy cheeses, baked chicken dishes, or white sauced clam pasta. Drink over the next 2 years.

Light yellow color. Aromas of pear and apples, orange blossom and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied fruit in the mouth with good depth and length. Very balanced, integrated and clean on the palate. This wine may improve with another 6-12 months in the bottle.

Tasted blind. Clear medium lemon with gold hues. The nose is clean, medium (-) in intensity, with lemon, apple, with some oak-induced toast and nuttiness. m The nose is developing (+). The palate is dry, with medium (+) acidity, medium (+) alcohol. The body, flavor intensity and length are all medium. This is a nicely-balanced, clean, cooler climate Chardonnay. Drinking well now or through 2016.

Soft white peach, shot through with delicate orange blossom, great acids and directness. If there's oak here, it's minimal, and the wine is really shining.
