Medium ruby. Dark Cherry, Raspberry and Soy. Nice and juicy, well balanced with a medium finish. Fruit forward but spice, fig and mushroom on the back end. Drank over two days and stayed solid

I pulled this out of the cellar after the Tablas Creek blog indicated it was at full maturity. Beautiful color, great balance and harmony, cherry compote, forest floor Pinot Noir, and unmuted umami nuances tell a story heretofore untold. What a treat, recreates the uncommon magic of the southern Rhone.
Good and great wines in their youth have plenty of music: a Chopin nocturne deep and mysterious, a Bach Brandenburg Concerto joyful and capricious, a Mozart piano concerto voluble and fluent, or a symphony of Beethoven or Mahler bold and lionhearted.
Wines evolve and, under the right circumstances, can take on a new dimension. Hidden lyrics are unveiled. Such seems this 2012 Tablas Creek Côtes de Tablas, as though Richard Rodgers finally found Oscar Hammerstein. 90+

PnP, but better with 15 minutes of air. A light to medium ruby in the glass. Some initial funk upon opening which blows off with air yielding red fruit and earth. The red fruits carry over to the medium bodied palate along with an amplified earthy component and juicy acidity. The latest Tablas Creek Vintage Chart shows this wine "drinking well-mature", but my impression of this wine is of a slightly overaged Cotes du Rhone. The wine will not improve, so drink up.

2nd bottle from our cellar. Cork had wine intrusion (3/4 up to the top). Definitely should have been drunk a few years ago - our fault! But 1st bottle was absolutely acceptable, so this one was a surprise in terms of its blandness. Drank 1/2 the bottle, tossed the rest.

Definitely towards the end of the drink window. If you still have some bottles, open one, let it sit for 10 minutes, pour into your glass and drink the rest of the bottle quickly! The flavor profile is very good for about 15 minutes upon opening!

Another bottle that shows that the CdT can often benefit from age, despite not being the flagship. A private note from a casual group setting five years ago indicated I liked it but that it was not a standout. It has now found itself and is showing some aged character. Opened side by side with an affordable '12 CdP and consumed over a couple of hours, it held its own. No doubt about it being Grenache driven (60% Grenache), what can I say, I'd have guessed it for a very nice CdR Villages or CdP. Holds its 14.5% abv with ease.

I agree with the other recent reviews, this is integrated well right now. Also, checked Tablas Creek for their vintage chart, and this is in the 'drinking well:mature' column. I was also curious, since I did open the 2015 one a bit early to compare this one with the 2015. The main difference is the integration, this feels relaxed, like it has finished the journey. I also note, to my taste, that this is simply structured and fairly linear, so its not so much like a strong Rhone wine, as more delicate and nuanced. So, right now, more on the precise axis, than overwhelming with tannins, acids or fruit. If you have any in cellar, this seems like a good time to be enjoying it. [one other note, is that this was purchased in 2014, so roughly 5.5 years in cellar]

Soft nose with notes of blueberry, blackberry, smoke, and damp leaves. More dark fruit on the front of the palate, and a nice slightly tannic finish. It is a bit “hot” throughout, due to the 14% + ABV, but an excellent accompaniment to rich winter dishes.

Serious Rhône-influenced wine, displaying bold red fruit and a decent dose of licorice. Drank a bit early, and I would expect savory notes to become more prominent over the next few years. That said, it's drinking nicely right now and could easily pass for a standard release CdP or top-line CdR.
53% Syrah, 27% Grenache, 18% Mourvèdre, & 2% Counoise; "All varietals for the Patelin de Tablas were destemmed, then fermented in open-top & closed s/s fermenters as well as 1500-gallon oak upright casks. Only native yeasts were used. After fermentation, the wines were racked & blended, aged in a mix of s/s & 1200-gallon oak foudres, & bottled in August 2013." 6,500 cases produced.
N: Slightly closed/muted; Forest floor init, with berry jam coming forward with air; Floral notes as well? With even more air, oranges?
P: Med body; Rnidsh entry with almost swtish frt nicely balanced by mid palate acidity which seamlessly morphs into a LONG (albeit very, VERY slightly faint), ult very, VERY slightly bitter finish. // Day 2: Frt down, but still drinking nicely. Although this bottle didn't receive the BEST of storage, it might still be best to drink this over the next 12-18 mos. 92 pts Vinous (Galloni), 91 Vinous/IWC (Raynolds), 90 ea Jeff Leve & WA, 86 Wine & Spirits, and 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson (Brown). Nice and refined, fruit-forward. Seems to me quite Burgundy-style not Rhone-style - I'm not sure how that results from this Rhone blend. sharp, cherry texture, transparent color. At any rate, excellent!

Popped and poured. Quite light in color, but has good legs and also plenty of power and richness, too. Unabashed pure Grenache nose, jumping out of the glass on opening, but muting just a bit later. There is good fruit in the mouth, but doesn't rival the real flagship wines of this estate. Still, it stood up to carbonara pasta tonight, so it's no weak sister. As with all Tablas wines, the balance is impeccable. 4-11-15-8: 88/100.

Decanted, upon the recommendation of the winery. Bright ruby red with luscious legs coating the glass. Meadow flowers, blackberry briar patch and forest moss in the nose. Palate-coating blackberry, black cherry and creosote accompanied by herbal, minty notes. This would provoke a lot of discussion at a dinner party, as the wine continues to evolve over the evening. Smokey elements drift in and out and the fruit sweetens, although the acidity keeps everything in check. A 30-second finish that keeps you coming back for more. Color: translucent, light ruby -> diffuse light ruby rim. Delicate nose of strawberries, cherries and a little spice. Light bodied and very much in the style of a very light Cotes-Du-Rhone. Grenache definitely dominating the blend, mostly showing raspberry and strawberry notes. Pleasant and smooth, but it needs more intensity, complexity and cut IMO.
