A beautiful golden yellow in color. A rich nose of tropical fruits and honey. Tactile and mouth coating. Time has stolen more acid from it than I like. The sweetness isn’t off-putting, but it could have been more balanced. The salinity that is typical to Santorini gives this character. But I think it is getting tired now (I should note that this bottle wasn’t stored well initially).
3/18. I had a little bit left over from a week back that I opened this afternoon. There is still life in this. The sweetness is no longer overshadowing the acidity and although there is now less body to this now, it is still in character, with a very nice volcanic bite to it.

Same as previous note from last month, we've been eating a lot of Greek lately!
Picking up color, heading towards a rich gold. Always a favorite. At 4 years old this is staring to pick up sencondary notes. It hint of Chenin or maybe a gewurztraminern with a oily nose yet still supporting the electric acidity and stinging citrus flavors.
As a side note, this wine will age spectacularly. Wish I had more.

One of the best on retailers' shelves right now, the consistent GWC brand has a solid winner in 2013 vintage. All the classic light straw colors, stone fruit aromas and mineral-laced flavors of white peach, salt, some white flowers and a medium, lip-smacking finish are in place, and the result is very rewarding. Bring on some warm weather and a patio.

has the acidity and grassy/herbiness of a NZ Sauvignon blanc, but with more green apple and maybe peach kind of fruit than citrus. Also a salty kind of minerality
Worked well with lemony/garlicky roast chicken, but it's begging for fish
Love it for the price

Poured blind. Has a nice grapefruit acid quality, with green apple, tart peach, orange zest and a menthol/fennel note in the finish. I guessed Pinot Gris, then Rhone and both were, of course, WRONG! I liked the wine, nice and refreshing.

Book Club - my turn (Neapolitan Pizza - Laguna Beach, CA): This is a house favorite. It's like a chainsaw for cutting through seafood dishes with butter or sauce. Light yellow color. Medium plus weight especially for a white. Nose has some grassy herbal note. Big zippy granny smith apple and sour grapefruit. Loads of acid, leaves the mouth watering for a good 15 seconds afterwards. Typically served very cold which exposes the acidity even more. Very complex.

Quite good, very interesting, unusual taste (we are not familiar with Greek wines) that has good acidity and minerality, definitely an old world feel. Would probably be good with food. Intriguing. Held up fine after several days. Worth repeating. Grade: B+.

Light gold color. Drank 1 glass over an hour. This was pretty decent. Mostly citrus on thè nose and palate with a nice mineral foundation on the palate. A bit acidic and not particularly complex but pleasant.

Typical Santorini showing some signs of evolution. Medium straw yellow. Pronounced minerality alongside ripe grapefruit, hints of honey and dried apricot. Medium-bodied, balanced with bright acidity and a med+ aftertaste. Drinking nicely but cellar no longer. Excellent value.

A better bottle than the previous one. Evolved and almost fully mature but enjoyable with nice Santorini assyrtiko typicity. Better to be consumed sooner than later.

Nice gold color with fresh pineapple, mango and tropical fruit nose. Abundant smooth flavor of the same with some minerality and a hint of honey. Proportional volomptuous finish that fades too quickly. Just enough acidity. Pairing well with salmon.

This was opened last night and the half bottle sat under cork in the fridge overnight. The nose reminds me a little of some Italian whites. Hard lemon candy, mineral, sea air. Similar flavors in the mouth with slight honey and tropical fruit shadings. Reminds me of Verdicchio somewhat. Crisp acidity with just a hint of sweetness. Pretty solid.

Last bottle and showing clear signs of fatigue. Color is turning golden/brown and on the the nose it displays aromas of wet wool, mushrooms and honey alongside candied oranges and minerality. Medium-bodied with medium acidity and a medium aftertaste. If this was not an off-bottle than the wine is already heading downhills.

I had another bottle from this producer last summer (my first Assyrtiko); That one was spectacular. I found that more harmonious than the pricier 2013 Sigalas that I bought right after.
Fresh out of the bottle, this one was somehow a bit disjointed on the first day. On the second day, the acidity receded - it seemed sweeter on the palate, but it was more integrated. It all kind of came together on the last glass which was savory, a delicious mouthful.
This was a nice bottle of wine. I just HAD liked the earlier bottle way more.

Thiassyrtiko reminded me of the Hatzidakis assyrtiko from the same vintage. More evolved this time and probably at peak. On the palate it displays aromas of honey, sandy minerality, green apple and citrus fruit. On the palate it is perfectly balanced with nice fruit and good length. Great value.

Medium lemon yellow. Very primary nose with grapefruit, green pear, sandy minerality and some yeasty scents that vanished after prolonged aeration. Medium-bodied, vibrant and refreshing with lively acidity and a long aftertaste. Good length and fantastic value.

Ashes and herbs with a touch of honey and lemon. Cold it is austere, but as it warms is really shows well. Nice texture and a great finish.
