One of several wines for my birthday weekend. Had it at Capital Grill with friends.
Opened for about 10 min and then double decanted for 30 and consumed about one hour later.
This is a magnificent Cabernet Franc and imposible to guess in a blind tasting. Medium plus body, firm tannins and good acidity. Very nice finish and outshined a bottle of 2016 David Arthur 3 acres (which needed more oxygen).
This is a great QPR.
Drink or hold.

Fortunately this vintage gives a little bit less 'wood' than their 2008, but still the wood is too dominant over the fruit (which is present). This doesn't have a lot of typical Cabernet Franc typicity, but much more Bordeaux characteristics.

Full and dark fruited, layered, spices, luckily just sufficient acidity. Wood influence is initially under control. After getting some air the woods do emerge, balancing on the verge of being overdone. A better showing than the 2008, luckily. But QPR still far from OK. This totally does not qualify as elegant in my book.

Decanted, needed six hours to open up. Nose was initially earthy & transformed to more welcoming floral & berry aromas. Initial flavors of licorice and expresso that moved to a palate of dark berry & spice flavors. Maintained tannic backbone throughout. Two bottles remain in cellar - note to self - revisit in 2027.

No score. From plastic cups at Sheraton Waikiki in Honolulu. We brought this bottle from Japan in order to really enjoy some salad and stuff in the room. But, not even proper wine glasses in the room. *teska-teska*
The tannic strictures here are plural. They build this magnificipod into greatness. Caressing it for further amazing deliveries in the future.
It seems that the youthfully attractive prime flush is over and that we now need to wait for some time (or face stringent tannins) for its real face to be shown.
Yey! Four btls to go, next one around 2030.

For me, Paleos are one of the most seductive expressions of cab franc. Dark fruit, leather, tobacco, smoke. Really well made, lovely bottle of wine. Needs a decant, will improve with another 5 years age, but absolutely lovely right now.

Dark, inky, full bodied wine Red and dark berries off the nose. Some heavy floral notes. Unctuous. Thick. Viscous. Grippy. Dark fruit and some wet wood on the palate. Longish finish. Fantastic wine. Drinking perfectly now but may improve. Case worthy! Two hour decant, consumed over four hours. Drink true cellar temperature.

Great wine, love all that Merlot has to offer in this well made wine. The better half of the bottle was enjoyed the second day with a charred cheddar burger. Cheers
Christmas dinner at Pecorella. Decanted 6 hrs. This is a beautiful creation with Barolo-style tannin. Polished to the degree I couldn't find any CF typicity. Not sure I'd be able to pinpoint this to Toscana. That matters not, what matters is that at age 8, this is a padawan. Sensitive to tannin? Avoid or keep! My score is higher than the wine performed, but anticipating that this wine will further unleash itself. We think of it as currently being a piece of a brilliant fireworks, still rising, towards its delivery of explosions of beauty.
Enjoyed at Pecorella, Yokohama. One btl for much later.

After a 4 hour decant this was singing. These wines needs to be decanted for a good amount of time as they come out closed from bottle. The fruit is pure with typical cab franc tastes of bell pepper and pyrazine but not vegetal. A very long aftertaste...needs another 5 or 7 years before hitting its adulthood

Ouuf! A baby - but just a darn good one - and a big one. Nose is fantastic, heavy, yet refined in some way. Dark and brooding, black and purple plums and cherries mixed with expensive chocolate, coffee, exotic spices , herbs, red earth, fine oak and a garden of explosive red flowers. Loads of impressions - loads of things going on. Palate is equally dense, packed with fat and lush ripe fruits, cherries, blackberries, earth, spices... This will need loads of time to come around and fully mature, but amazing tonight. Bottle was gone way to fast to catch more than above scribbled notes. My favorite Bolgheri producer has done it again.
Fantastic expression of Cabernet franc. This wine nails all the franc hallmarks by mixing some red fruit with the franc hallmarks of dust and earth mixed with forest floor and green with a super long finish. Outstanding

I like Italian wines and therefor I am no Bordeaux expert. But bjesus, what a phenomenal wine this is!
Popped and double decanted it for about 1 hour. Initially a bit closed, but after about 10 minutes it just explodes out of the glass. Strong tannins still, but not anywhere annoying with the food. Good acidity. Dark fruits with scents of laurel, tyme, rosemary and pipe tabac. Endlessly long. And the longer it is in the glass the more powerful it became. You don’t drink it, you sip it. My wife and I did not even finish the wine, we still had some left for the next day.
Funny thing is that for a Bordeaux styles wine, you still notice the Italian Bolgheri style. Slightly bombastic, extravagant and Mediterranean. It’s like a Ferrari: flashy, screaming for attention, cannot be ignored, but totally on-point and exact.
Had the wine with T-bone steak, Fiorentina style.

Decanted and poured. Still very young and I would recommend more cellar time or a longer decant. Love the herbaceous notes that come through with the fruit and dusty tannins on this. More in my wheelhouse than the older Napa cabs that preceded, but this one needs more time to develop complexity.

Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, plum, raspberry, allspice, and marjoram. Palate: Medium-full bodied, semi-creamy mouth-feel, dark fruit and green vegetables dominate the attack, spice driven mid-palate lift, flavors harmonize in the back-end and persist through a lengthy 45-60 second finish. This is the truest expression of Cabernet Franc I've tasted, truly exceptional.

100 percent Cab Franc, reaching drinking window now (should reach peak in 5-7 years). Promising nose, good balance (not too much herbs), powerful but elegant. If QPR would be better, I would fill the cellar with this wine.

I wanted to keep my next bottle for 10 years, but managed barely a month…
Beautifully pure, intense, well-built and polished to a degree I don't think I have ever come across. Too beautiful.
Only things I don't understand:
- Blinded, how to recognize this as a CF?
- When will it be at the top of its game?
2 btls to go and 10 years is the trampoline I'm looking at. But, trend says they're both gone before summer strikes the Northern hemisphere…
