Still with a lot of life left in it. Lirac is supposed to be minimum 40% grenache, but this tastes much richer than a wine with 40% grenache. I would have guessed this was mostly syrah or mourvedre. Too bad this is my last bottle. I would love to try again in 5 years. This was really good bargain at $22 from Vins Rare. I would definitely buy again.

At first a bit stinky with some TCA hint which blows off after an hour or so, the sangiovese fruit also needed 2h to shine. Delicious wine at peak but needs a decant!

A very nice Italian red! I can't believe it. It has nice fruit, good body, lasting aftertaste and it is not loaded with tannin. Not sure this needs to age much more. At $22, not too bad. Worth maybe $15.

Still improving. See previous notes. More earthy than the last bottles. Excellent with pasta and showed brilliantly with pesto and ragu over two days. 5+12+16+8=91

Bought a case of this wine a few years ago. Didn't really like it when I started trying the first few bottles. Now with 6 years age the wine is coming together. Its an elegant wine, with pretty good composition and medium body. Works well as a compliment to a lighter Italian dish. I had it with pizza last night and it was absolutely fine.

The appearance and is more inky purple than crimson but more transparent looking down at the stem than the profile would suggest. The mouthfeel is lighter than expected, the nose has modest red fruit (more cranberry than sour cherry) that also dominates the palette and fades slowly on the finish. Less acidity than past vintages. The finish is the best feature of this wine. Drinking well right now and not sure it has legs for more than a year or two. 5+12+15+7=89

Adding another note on this wine as the 2nd bottle tried was an improvement on the first one.
This was much better. It has structure, balance in place and quite decent fruit level. Still a medium bodied wine, not much complexity and it requires a light dish to complement.
Let's see how the next 10 bottles in this case goes...

Same notes as last time. Medium bodied, but with enough structure to cut through the fat of a Delmonico steak. Definitely ready to go, with sediment already dropping out. Definitely Old World wine, but not bad because of that.

Way too light bodied, lack of fruit expression and nearly no complexity. A very big disappointment and In my honest opinion this is a very poor wine from such a well esteemed producer. I just hope this bottle was a bad example but judging on other reviews I dont hold too much hope for the 11 bottles left in my case.

Dark ruby in the glass; nice nose featuring black and red fruits.
Pretty accessible/resolved on the palate. Not bad, and it works with the baguette and cheese I am snacking on right now, but not overly complex. Nice persistence on the finish.

Best bottle I have had so far. Fragrant with red fruit and a touch of wood on the nose. Enough kick on the plate to make it interesting. Perfect as a daily drink.

Tuesday Night $20-$30 Double Blind (Bin 75): Very red crimson with paler rim; sulfur is strong, rose, red cherry, an herbal note almost like seaweed; soft palate, deep ripe strawberry, sweet rose, some plum, like drinkability, silky tannin, perfumed, light extraction; thought this was Burgundian Sangiovese from higher altitude; really surprised to see this is Cab based; really needs time to put on some weight because it really didn't behave as it should for this wine; tasty but confusing.

Reddish burgundy. Probably damaged - OK, but nothing like previous bottle. Not much on nose, except a little red fruit; just the merest hint of cork taint. Medium-bodied, becomes weaker pretty quickly. Easy drinking, any damage make it bland rather than unpleasant.

Burgundy with surprising tones of dried blood, given the youth. Blackberry and cassis on the nose, maybe some cherries and very gentle liquorice. A little cinders-like smokiness. Nicely-balanced. Medium-bodied but nevertheless with a juicy heft - good balance. Good berry fruits and some decent, well-integrated tannins. Easy drinking in the best sense.

Color: bright ruby Nose: strawberry, cherry and herbs Taste: tart cherries This was the first wine int eh Tenuta san guide tasting, the most basic and simple. It was very soft, almost thin, with nothing mid palate and no real finish. I found it very drying in the mouth. It is meant to be the " everyday" wine for TSG and intended to drink now. I'm not sure if it will develop in the bottle.

Carpe Vino!; 11/9/2014-11/15/2014 (Tuscany (Florence, Montalcino, Siena)): 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Sangiovese. I am not sure, but I think perhaps none of this fruit was estate and instead it is all brought in. The winemaking all happens though at the Tenuta San Guido location. Some American oak used. This is just a light and fruity one. No major finish to speak of. Very easy drinking. Perhaps with some food it would pair ok. For my money would rather pay a bit more and end up with Guidalberto.

Aerated two hours in decanter. Delicious nose of dark berries, liquorice, spice, herbs and flowers. On the palate lots of dark fruits, crushed berries, pomegranate, nice integrated tannins, some oak notes and and very good acidity. Medium length, concentrated, nice structure and somewhat sweet finish. A complex and balanced wine that will gain from further storage. A very pleasant wine that I will definately buy more of.

Poured from a 375ml. Light in color, showing an attractive, translucent ruby hue. Very pretty on the nose. Beautiful scents of crushed berries, sweet baking spices and flowers fill the glass. Medium-bodied, this was initially extremely bright and acidic. Needed a good 45 minutes of air time before its tangy raspberry and dark pomegranate fruit began to emerge. Finishes quite long, with mouth-puckering tannins and a touch of oak. This has the class and some of the elegance of its big brother (Sassicaia), but is just a little out of balance right now. Needs another couple of years to soften up and come together. 50+5+12+14+7=88
