PnP. Beautiful ruby red in the glass. Nose of ripe red fruit, slight funk, baking spices, heat. On the palate midweight, silky, ripe red fruit, signature NG stemminess. Medium length savory finish of acid, bitter fruit, stems.
Drinking perfectly right now and showing better than the '11 syrah drank a few nights prior.

From the La Paciencia vineyard, this grenache has a beautiful floral nose with fresh strawberries and raspberry jam thrown in for good measure. Roses, some savoury spices, a touch of mint, smoke and black pepper. It gets more musty and mushroomy in the mouth with a finish that was a bit "off" at the beginning, but it mellowed into a finish that was sleek, smooth and sexy. I did not decant and it would have benefited from an hour or two.

Tasted side-by-side with a 2011 No Girls Syrah. This showed well and is at peak. Bright red fruit (rhubarb, red currant), baking spice, and some good earthiness showing through. Cool vintage, but a great wine. I have always preferred this to the '11 No Girls Syrah, and this time is no different. A weightless and satisfying version of new world Grenache.

What an amazing wine. Absolutely delicious with a nose that is almost hard to describe. Strawberries, garrique, some smoke, a little mint, rose and other floral notes plus an intriguing hint of citrus, like orange rind, and pepper. White pepper. Really compelling. First taste: BACON, and more bacon. Followed by red fruits, mushrooms and some really silky tannins. This finish goes on for 35-40 seconds. Soft and alluring. It’s not likely to get much better, but it’s really damn good as it is. Drink up!

Special Clubs and Cayuse for the 4th of July (Highland Park, IL): Nose: The nose is forward and expressive with red cherries, blueberries, red currants, red fruits, raspberries, spice notes, liqueur, herbs, and a good amount of roses. There is good depth, but it is slightly lacking even with this showing a lot of red-fruited expression.
Taste: The feel is Medium/full bodied with crisp, medium acidity and silky, medium tannins. The tannins are mostly resolved and the feel is plush with red cherries, red currants, raspberries, spices, herbs, and roses.
Overall: This feels like it is right at its peak or maybe on a slow slide. The nose is very expressive with the palate showing lovely plushness. The problem is that the depth isn't there to really drive this wine though it is very enjoyable on the whole.

Took a little bit of time to open up - but once it did, it was in a really nice place. A bit funky, but not barnyardy. Plenty of fruit--strawberries. Drinking well now, and should continue to do so for a few more years.

Decanted 2+ hours. Even funkier than 2 years ago. Definitely a C Baron wine. Strawberry, wet mushroom and stable on the nose. Paired with a 5 hour, slow smoked spiral ham. Silky smooth and robust. Excellent interpretation.

Ruby-pink, translucent. Strawberry-raspberry notes, with acetic notes and smoke, immediately pronounced. At first a prominent bitterness on the late palate and aftertaste. After that, tasted with turkey, which made the wine unpalatable! A couple hours later the bitterness had largely dissipated to reveal a medium-full bodied soft and round wine with plenty of red fruit flavors and a long aftertaste. I would tend to drink this with the same foods for which I'd drink a pinot noir. Ric

Decanted for about 2 hours in cellar. Beautiful nose. Wine is light, almost like a pinot but with a ton of depth and weight. Much better than the 1st bottle which was opened July 2017. Will hold the last bottle for a few years to see where it goes.

Well, this is surely a polarizing wine. I sit squarely in the camp that thinks it is a profoundly good expression of the variety. The nose on opening is just compelling and intense - one of those “smell it across the table” wines. The dominant notes for me were lilac, strawberry, sour cherry jam, and bacon. I did not get any brine or olive in this bottle. I kept coming back to the nose, and were I rating on that alone, it gets a 98-99. The volatility is high on initial opening, with some effervescence that dissipates with air, and an animal funk that calms down too. The wine definitely needs a decant to be most enjoyable. I suggest an hour. The palate is indeed mid weight, with soft, resolved tannins and a Med-long finish. I had it with Asiago cheese and dark chocolate, which brought out some neat things in both the wine (like watermelon rind) and the snacks.
In short, a profoundly intense nose and flavor profile makes this a wine you wont soon forget
Light red in color. 13.8% ABV. Savory nose of red fruits, game, olive brine and rose petals. Medium body with medium acidity. Elegant and supremely complex. Cherries, strawberries, mushrooms and smoked meat on the palate. The finish is exceptionally long and silky. A very unique expression of Grenache that clearly stands apart from the Cayuse God Only Knows. Likely best over the next 2-3 years but I won't be surprised if it ages gracefully for years beyond.

Dark garnet in the glass with a tight clear meniscus. Tart cherry, raspberry, bacon on the nose. First impression in the mouth is "I like it!". Core of red fruit, noticeably saline, add some mineral to the long finish. Best with food, I think, it is a little heavy-handed on its own.

I'm not sure about these or the Cayuse wines. At times I find them tremendously interesting and other times I can hardly make it through a glass. Nose that was immediately savory with a little plum and a slight poopy baby diaper. A little bitter initially and at the end. Not for everybody. I drank 3 glasses. My friend gave me hers back. So is this 88 in my opinion or 70 in hers. We'll go 88 since I'm writing the review.

PnP and consumed over 2.5 hrs. on 1st night, opened up and showed better as it got more air; saved about a glass or so for next day. This was savory with notes of red berries, olive, saddle funk, ink. Mid-bodied with crisp zippy acidity, gentle soft tannins and an easy silky finish. (93+)

Brilliant grenache from No Girls. Decanted about an hour. Spicy, peppery and with an immensely perfumed floral nose. Lush and elegant, with ripe plum, white pepper and, I swear, root beer flavors. A minerally finish that went on and on. Also open at the same time was a 2000 Pontet Canet. Kept reaching for the No Girls. One of the nicest bottles of grenache I have ever had.

Opened, took a sip, and decanted. This is a light tasting, funky, tart cherry oddity. We let it sit in the decanter about two hours before giving up for the night. The second night I thought it was the same but my wife was enjoying it but it still had many of the same characteristics. I usually love WA funk but this did not do it for me.

Drank with a 3 hour plus decant. Silky smooth, lighter bodied, wonderful nose of strawberries, cherries and subtle kirsch fruit. This is a smashing Grenache. Berry polished, delicious finish. If I was expecting a Cayuse type profile I would be disappointed. But this is a different animal and should be appreciated for what it is. That being said, I see no reason to hold longer than a year or two. Cheers.

Tasted alongside the 2011 No Girls Syrah, 2011 Horsepower Syrah, and 2012 Horsepower Grenache. This was my second favorite of the evening, behind the '11 Horsepower Syrah. Fantastically complex nose already, with exotic spices and an array of red fruit. Rich, but still energetic in the mouth. I'd continue to hold my other two. Based on the way this wine is built, I'd expect it (and the Syrah) to age very well.
Tons of funk, spice, meat and hints of smoke on the nose. Really chewy on the tongue with a long, lingering finish. Well made wine and can see it only getting better in a couple of years.

A POLARIZING wine - two camps at the table, "loved it", "hated it". I was in the "loved it" group. Decanted over 6 hours. Beautiful cranberry colored wine; red fruits, spice, savory tones, funk, leather, meatiness, and iron all on the palate; fine tannins, LONG, lingering finish. This was a great wine. I look forward to enjoying this in the future. Enjoy!!

Popped and poured, medium purple/ruby. Pronounced aromas immediately off the pop of smoked meats, Islay-peat, vegetal funk and all manner of savory weirdness. Within 15-20 minutes, the fruit emerges and shows raspberries, strawberries & watermelon along with notes of spicy vanilla bean, Kalamata olives, quality pot, hippy incense and cracked pepper. Flavors in mouth initially seem to show the influence of stem inclusion with a complex "greeness" permeating throughout. That said, just as aeration opened this aromatically the palate also unfurls with additional air into a complex amalgam of juicy red fruits, tobacco, savory funk and an undefinable, utterly ubiquitous element which defines the wines of this producer. Tannins are somewhat chewy as the finish sails on. This is one of those wines you can smell across the room, worth opening right now if you have a few...just redonk.
Gave this about 2 hrs in a wide bottom decanter. This was a great wine, and I'm going to nitpick it. Absolutely fantastic nose with pure raspberry, incense, crushed rocks, cherry liqueur. Almost a purer and less flamboyant version of the des Tours Vacqueyras. Imo, the nose was better than the GOK Grenache from the same year that we tried recently. On the palate, the story is a bit different. The acidity is perceptibly low, and the wine leans medium- bodied. More very pure red raspberry and some slight crushed rock minerality, but there is something missing: the palate is a little bit thin. Just the very slightest hint of structure on the finish, which is shorter than I would like. Because the acid is low and there is little perceptible tannin, this seems like it might be an earlier drinker than, e.g., the 2010 version of this wine, but I would love to hear other opinions...
