Fully developed, the wine is medium-bodied, bright, fresh, crisp and offers red plums, truffle, mint, forest leaf, tobacco, cocoa, and herbs on the nose and palate. No decanting is needed, just pop and pour.

Decanted for 1 hour, monitored over decanting period. Perfect level, sound cork, half soaked. At first, a bit tight and cool with cherry and plum fruit and not much secondary development. Relatively high acid and still some fine grained tannin. As it opened a truffle note began to emerge. Put back in the bottle and vac sealed at 1 hr. During dinner this fell apart a bit. The tannin was gone and the acid sticks out. Still a very nice wine. Well and truly outshone by a 2000 l’Evangile and an 04 Pichon Lalande. I would not put this up against any other big boys due to the slightly weak view rage but this can still develop further but will be more of a lighter, cooler claret like the old days.

7th of 12, decanted an hour, perfect level, half travelled cork, now right back on form after a dodgy phase up my last bottle in December 16, classical plums and damsons, elegantly spiced, cool, long and complex, quite concentrated for vintage, outshone however by Geantet Charmes-Chambertin 98 remnant from previous night, no rush. F+ (18).

Sampled at the Blandford Comptoir in London, highly recommended place! Dark fruit, violets and plum with a touch of pencil shavings. On the palate more of the same coupled with earthy notes. Good fruit core. The tannin is fully resolved and there’s acidity enough to give it some freshness. Elegant and delicate impressions and a long nice finish. Maybe not the most complex of vintages but delicious still. Drink now and 5 years on.

6th of 12, decanted an hour, perfect cork and level, almost thrown off the sulks and coming back fully mature, lovely damson and sour cherry fruit wrapped around an iron core with a touch of spice, should eventually merit more than current F (17.5).

Small glass at The Sampler. All minerals and iron flavour. Still medium to full bodied. Tannins present but integrated. Very tasty and no doubt better with food.

5th of 12, decanted an hour, perfect cork and fill, previous notes varied from very good to fine plus and better 5 years ago - quite dense plum red; monolithic nose, plum and sous bois with a touch of iron and maybe chocolate, essentially simple; fullish, ok length, somehow a bit lumpy and over-extracted, lacking nuance, hopefully a phase. At best a disappointing very good (16/20).

Robe a reflets tuilés.

Approaching maturity, this is showing some nice red and blue berries, ripe, with some chocolate and soil and toast, but it lacks the dimension of a better vintage.

A lovely mature Pomerol, with a gentle bouquet of red/black fruit, violet, cocoa powder and old leather. Nice velvety structure and balance with tasty tannins, notes of sweet plum, tobacco and stone on the palate and in the after taste, decent length. A nice wine and paired fantastically with the duck confit and Iberico pork loin at the Robuchon Macau. However, at the price of $140, there could be many other good options. Cheers

Deep blueish crimson, pronounced bouquet, ripe blackberries and violets. Wonderful refreshing acidity, lifted. Mineral, hugely elegant. Silky tannins but still unresolved. Blackcurrants, cedar, liquorice, a touch of mint. A long finish. Decanted 2 hours. For the vintage, this is a wonderful wine.

I was expecting more; the wine was tart, red currant and a little quick on the mid palate. I don't think holding these will benefit the owner. Drink over next 36 months.

From magnum. Decanted and served over 3 hours. Dark plum colour. Floral and fruit aromas giving way to saddle leather over time. Everything well integrated in the mouth with silky tannins and a moderately long finish. Drinking at its best right now I think.

Andrew's Birthday (Jade Palace, Forum): Very fragrant in the way the best Pomerols are. Plums dominate the sappy but serious palate with silky but firm tannins. Interestingly I get a lot of minerality in this wine. I like the way this is drinking now and would go very well with red meat. Very good plus.

2010 Simple Dinner Series No.9 – Rhone God’s Birthday (Jade Palce @ The Forum Shopping Mall): After some old CDP, this wine lead us back to Bordeaux and refresh our nose and palate with tight, focus aromas of new saddle leather, sweet plum, violet, perfume floral, dark chocolate with some underlying spices, herb and capsicum. Very structure and tannic on the powerful palate, lots of new wood and oak dominant the flavor profile and the high level of tannin stain the palate with leathery and underlying plum fruits that offer good depth, vibrancy, muscular, slightly rough texture with long and fine juicy finish. Too young. Give another 6-8yrs. Buy - No.

Definitive Bordeaux (Mirabelle Restaurant Austin, Texas): A favorite wine of many, the Burgundians downplayed the Pomerols here. The wine had a floral and a subtle herbal nose and was very soft and velvety on the palate. A great balance and softness/silkiness was repeatedly emphasized, and notes of red fruit, bright cherries, strawberry, and dark fruit (a Burgundian) were noted. Though this wine was not the favorite of any tasting group, at the end of the day it was one of the most discussed wines of the salon. This wine drank very well after having been decanted for three hours and several saloners thought it was ageworthy. And we learned that our Burgundians have an affinity for Margaux more than Pomerol.

This was really a mistake to open. Prolific with bright red fruits, but really way too young to be drunk as the wine was a little linear and more Cali cab with a tremendously fruit forward showing. Little earth and few secondary aromas or flavors were evident. I will let the others rest for 5-7 years as this will be a beauty when ready!

Beautiful dark red colour with opaque core. Lots of toasty oak notes coming out of the glass with a spice undertone and a hint of ink and rubber underneath. Well structured and deliciously sweet with a buttery texture. The wine was quite hard and unforgiving, somewhat tight, but with delicious underlying flavours of vanilla tart and a milky character. Obviously a wine in need of time. As it stands the wine was excellent.
