On the palate, the juice is intense, spicy and pure, with pleasant black fruit. Great flavor of a juice carried by a beautiful acidity. Aeration will bring a nice complexity with tobacco and leather. Good finish on cedar with a satisfying length.
Good Brunello which, given its evolution in the glass, is mature.

3rd bottle in 2 years, every bottle has been a bit different and this was the best so far. Mature, smooth mouthfeel, black cherry, wonderful acidity. There has been just a little bitterness in the back of all bottles and without that I'd rate this higher. This bottle was fully mature.

Elegant fruit, somewhat subdued and opening still, tart mid and ripe but grippy tannins. Plum, red cherry, pomegranate, cedar, delicate yet powerful. Glad I waited.

I see a few "drink now" comments and I disagree. Maybe there is some bottle variation but after opening this last night I do not feel this wine needs to be consumed sooner than later. We let the wine develop in the glass and over a couple hours it really opened up with fruit, casis, olive and a great blend of tannin and acid. Like I said before, I don't feel this is in a need to drink now state and should hold well in its current state for a few years.

Last bottle drunk over a couple of nights. Night 2 was the pick with the tannins settled down and revealing a more balanced and fruit driven wine. A tasty if unspectacular Brunello that will definitely not improve with further ageing. Drink now.

Encore beaucoup de fruits rouges. Les tanins sont encore présents, peu de signe d'évolution, sauf peut-être un peu de sous-bois et des notes de terre. Très agréable, belle évolution.

Either this was a weaker bottle than last time or I overrated it then. Solid but nothing spectacular, at least this bottle. 1.5 hours decant before first taste ensured it had time to open.

Blind tasted this side-by-side with a 2010 Valdicava Brunello (nearly 2x the price). This was the better wine -- without question. Beautiful dark red fruit, intense mineral and rounded tannins. Paired with fresh mafaldine in lamb ragu. Drinking reallllly well right now (and benefits from an hour or so in the glass/decanter).

Vintage 2010 is truly a magical vintage in Tuscany, this is my third bottle of Brunello di Motalcino Castelgiocondo 2010 from the Frescobaldi family. Wonderful scent, lavender, rosehip, sour bitter gourd. Classic Brunello structure, with clear tannins and razor-sharp acidity, very good length. So glad I have three fl left of this vintage, will be as good or better in 4 - 7 years.

Gross. Black liquorice on the nose, and some floridity, but this was too acidic and tart (and I like acidic wines) with medium tannins and medium body. It felt unbalanced due to the screeching acidity
Drinking wonderfully, the usual cherry with additional plums and dark fruit. Leather, black tea, liquorice, great structure though the tannins are silky smooth now. Not as complex as some of the 2010s, but a great bottle.

Cherries, spice, and something that reminds me of sun-dried tomatoes. I didn't open this bottle far enough in advance and it has more to offer on day two. Served with steak Florentine. Not really my style but I think that it's a good wine.

2nd bottle this year, first was a little meh quite numb in every way, not what I expected. This was much better, beautiful strawberry/cherry nose on opening and after an hour or so raisin and a touch of oak. Juicy mouthwatering acidity that matched pasta pomodoro perfectly. The tannins are a little dry. Drinks great now but I will wait a year or two until next bottle to se if there’s development from here.

This bottle was fully decanted, and the cork was sound. However, the wine just seemed a bit off with a bit of prune-like characteristics. It improved some on day 2 but still not what I expected. I typically have enjoyed this wine from numerous vintages, and I'll try another bottle to see if there was just something unusual with this particular bottle.

Opened two hours prior to dinner. Dark red fruit with a hint of tobacco on the nose. The palate was dark cherry, a touch of raspberry, tobacco, leather and a hint of spice. The finish was moderate to long.

There is excellent fruits: cherry and plum mostly. Some flower flavors also. The finish is very dry from the wood. With food, it’s excellent. Without, the woody dry finish is a little harsh. I’m not sure if it will be better in a few years: will the fruits survive the softening of the wood tannins ?

closed and unimpressive on P/P day one; ripe high toned international style on day two; very ripe but traditional style with rhubarb on day three. A different bottle on three nites and all were different from my last bottle. Go figure.

Opened at 3, small glass, big juicy Corked then decanted at 4. Served at 7. Seems to have lost some life, not as big, is this a phase or did I miss it? Maybe needed more time in the decanter. Didn’t really show much through out the next hour plus. Similar I guess to the 2006 I drank a while ago, really didn’t open for a while.

Revisité ce vin, encore bien ample, jeune et costaud. Il lui manque encore quelques années avant d'être à son apogée. Sur les cerises noires les roses et les prunes. Les tannins sont bien enrobés et la finale est longue et un peu sur le bois. Prometteur.

Comparing my note from two years ago, I think this wine is evolving and improving very nicely. It's a big, meaty Brunello heavy on cigar tobacco, tar, and smoke. The stuffing is here for at least another decade, maybe 15 years, of great evolution. If you have multiple bottles, drink one or more now, as it's clearly in its window. Allow one or more hours of decant time. Could it hit 95+ for me with another 5+ years? I have another 3 bottles and hope to find out.

This bottle was not as good as the one I had a few months ago. Opened and even after an hour or so the finish was harsh. Took about three hours to smooth out. Dark cherry and leather were the dominant factors on the palate. Still a nice wine but disappointing after the last one I tried.

Two years after my last bottle and this might have been my final one. Poured into decanter and started drinking, and this does not need a long decant. Continuous to drink very well. I like the classic style in which Frescobaldi makes their Brunello.Red and a touch dark fruit, earthy notes, fine to medium tannins. Will for sure last but not get better, enjoy at your convenience!

This indeed a classic Brunello in a great vintage. But I am yet to be bowled over. On balance, I believe it not at its peak. Second Coravin 8 oz. pour--this time for 1.5 hrs in a half-bottle decanter. full smoke, tar, dark red/black cherry scents, plenty of rustic Tuscan charm. Fun finish but still somewhat closed and not yet redolent with that magical Brunello tone.

entering its prime now. lovely mature nose of leather, cherries, earth, tea leaves. with several hours of air, the palate is booming. big, bold and savoury. it takes a moment but the acidity pops mid palate along with some saline and sanguine notes alongside sour cherry. some determined tannin as well, but it all works. long finish. this is really coming into its own. my guess is this will hold and may even improve yet. ...one of the better buys in the brunello dept. 92+

Poured slowly into wide base decanter 4 hours before drinking. (@3 hours muted nose, already lovely palate though, tannin shows)
Nose: fresh, red fruit, cherry, mint, leafy, earthy, Palate: so good. Fruit, acidity, still tanic but strangely it doesn’t show as much, but it’s there.
I think I prefer decanting (this note) over slow ox (previous note) for this wine. It needs a long time, so the wide base dacanter speeds things up. 4 hours in wide base decanter it is for next time.

60 minute decant, but continued to open over the evening. Entering nice drinking window, still a bit of grip left to integrate, but pleasantly so. Slightly muted nose. Black fruits. Lovely savoury notes + roasted tomato on the palate. Like many Sangio wines, was phenomenal with tomato sauce. Just a fantastic food wine. Recorked and placed in fridge overnight. Hadn’t budged at all the next day, still great. Only loses points on basis of lacking a ton of complexity. Still great QPR.

A good tasting wine, but without dimensionality. James Suckling's rating of 97 is absurd. He consistantly over-rates wines to propel his ratings to be used by the trade. Never trust a James Suckling rating on any wine.
Great BdM from Marchesi de Frescobaldi. 2010 really is a great vintage. High acidity from the beginning, but after 1 - 2 h the red fruit is in great balance with the acidity. Great to Entrecote with oven-baked root vegetables and béarnaise sauce. Drink or hold.

A predictable Brunello - nothing spectacular but everything at the right place. Plum, tobacco leaves, dry herbs. Oak is well integrated. Tannins are silky. Decanted 1 hr. and consumed over the next 4 with the last glass the best. Still has tannins to resolve for optimum enjoyment so for my palette I will let my remaining bottles rest for a few years and still give it a healthy decant when popping the next. There is upside potential for this.

Clear medium red, very Burgundian in appearance. Red cherries and cranberries on the nose with a herbal note lingering in the background. Spicy, red-fruited palate with excellent lift and balance. At the beginning of its window with another 10 years to run IMO. The quality surprised me given its reasonable price point. Excellent.

The wine has a soft floral bouquet. Very earthy flavor along with aged stewed plums. Seemed way past its prime. Juice was very tart, tannic and acidic. Atypique dans ce millésime chaud, avec un 15% qui ressort un peu. C'est bon mais limité, faut dire que le terroir de ce vin est situé dans un plateau sud de l'appellation, donc peut être plus réussi dans les millésime plus frais? 91

Delicious summarizes this well balanced 2010 that is just in full stride right now. Its hiding allot of fruit under the thick robe, but its clearly Italian with all the cherry pits and tang, and dense balsamic backbone. So this is what the 2010 Brunello vintage taste like a decade on in a medium-quality offering. This will never be a symphony, but hopefully one day a good sonata: dark red garnet/black color, a barely- yielding nose of tar and dark cherry with a hint of oak, and a sophisticated corps. After 90 minutes the decanter and an hour in the glass, there was certainly some sinewy delineation of the dark cherry, moist soil, tar, and woody essence. I would not say that I was overwhelmed but I do think it's fair to give this wine another two years to deliver a verdict. These are structured, tannicly- balanced wines that want more time and do not risk having the fruit fade as the tannin resolves. Two hours minimum in the decanter is required and it should be enjoyable with a hearty meal.

Probably would have benefited more from a 3 hour decant rather than the 1 hour I had available. Mid to dark red colour. Dark cherry and toast nose with some dried herbs. The tannins aren’t as chewy as a couple of years ago. Almost Bordeaux like tannin, but brighter acid, cherry pip and some earthy notes. Faint notes of dried meat and tobacco which I think will develop more with time. Tasty wine, with nice length that belies the 15% alc.

Anton’s Wine Tasting Notes Castel Giocondo 2010 Winery: Castel Giocondo Varietal: Sangiovese Grosso Area/Appellation: Brunello Di Montalcino Vintage: 2010. Price: $53 Color: dark ruby somewhat opaque, Legs: really slow Nose: 3.5 hour decant: very closed, a hint of leather, some strawberries, violets, Palate: tannic, dark black fruits, black licorice, espresso, Finish: really tight and compact even after a 3 hour decant, Comments: ALANM68 spoke of decanting this for at least 3-4 hours, better yet, decant it at noon and serve around 8, this wine is very tightly wound and will go to 2040 easily. Two hour decant. Red berry fruit and heat on the nose. Medium body with a bit of an edge. Bright fresh red berry fruit on the palate with some interesting earthy hints. Sharp acidity keeps the chewy tannins in check. Not overly drying. Med long finish. A very nice wine now that has lots of room to develop further. Noticeably improved smoothness in the glass over time. Next bottle will have a 3 hour decant.

Three years since my last bottle. Pnp. This has opened up nicely and comes across style-wise as a surprisingly traditional Brunello now. Menthol, herbs and still a touch of wood - that should integrate with more age - join the dried red and dark fruit. Good acidity which is nicely integrated. The 15% alcohol does not show at all. Medium length. There are certainly more aromatic and complex Brunellos, especially in the excellent 2010 vintage, but a very solid effort nevertheless. Can drink now, or give it a few more years in bottle no problem.

Bright red throughout. Floral, sprightly, red fruit nose. Red fruit is underlain by vanilla oak and spice making for a delicious, rather exotic drink right now. Tannins here are a bit firm. Classic dry cherry and lavender notes, opened considerably more on the second day. High toned acid and it will be interesting to see how this develops. I think this could improve by a couple points, but seems to have a fairly low ceiling and doesn’t represent terrific value for a strong vintage.

Was initially going to rate this in the very low 80's. Tartness and prune dominated. Aerated for several hours and the fruit emerged as the tannins softened, but still remained. Dark cherry and tobacco. I think a few more years in the cellar and this could hit 90 points.

As several others have recently opined, this wine is drinking very well right now. I've had a couple of bottles over the past few years that were not ready but this one is in the zone. It's beautiful, highlighting so much of what there is to love in Sangiovese. There's a volatile petroleum element in the nose that takes a few hours to dissipate, but the mouth is so satisfying and delicious, with distinctive floral, cherried cinnamon and coffee elements. Will continue to get better for a decade.

Bois très présent. Possiblement pas assez d'oxygénation pré-dégustation mais il me semblait vraiment dominé par la forest ! À revisiter prochainement avec une ouverture adéquate. 89pts

Cork is high quality and a perfect seal. This bottle got pretty high scores overall in a remarkable year, sets high expectations!
Am several hours in following an excellent pasta dish my wife whipped up; spicy Italian sausage, fennel, touch of cream and Pernod. Top, top quality Italian rigatoni.
Have to agree with other recent reviews, this bottle is good for years maybe even five or ten. Remarkable.
Still tight, like the acid and tannins have the fruit locked down. Excellent if you like drinking delicious tannins, if not you may want to wait a while.
All the same, am really enjoying this last glass. Some bottles are opened at "just" the right time but all bottles are opened at the right time.

First of four bottles. Decanted 3 hours. Medium ruby, slight bricking. No sediment. Dried chillis, dust, caramel, dried red fruits, sweet spices, oatmeal. Medium-full bodied, high acid, XD, high(-) tannin, m+ alcohol (15%). Medium finish. Overall, pleasant enough with steak, but not worth $50 CAD, at least at this point. HOLD.

Black currants and prunes with hint of cedar. Astringent and quite acidic but holds a nice refreshing balance despite 15% alcohol. Medium bodied and deep flavored. Finish not as long as one might expect.

This wasn’t as memorable as the last bottle I had. Very tight and astringent at the moment with the fruit struggling to be heard. Maybe it needs time. It definitely needs a lot of air.

Decanted and enjoyed a few glasses. Not ready! Still a little tannic and disjointed. Lots of nice pit fruit that should show more over time. Every time I open a quality 2010 Brunello that I think I’ve given enough time I’m proven wrong. Wait

Tremendous energy and vibrant acidity, with no excessive ripeness. Slowly emerging complexity of fruit (over several hours of decanting and deeper into the tasting night). Getting closer to its peak relative to my last tasting in 2016 but not quite there yet. Excellent.

From a magnum. Opened, but not decanted for 90 minutes before pouring. Had this with 4 other magnums with my wine group at a NYC restaurant. My WOTN. WA's tasting note gave this a confusing opening drinking window, with the text suggesting 2020, but the box for the review giving 2017. Too bad it was my only bottle so I won't be able to track its development. But last night, it was drinking great.

Vinturi aerated, no further decant for this 375ml bottle. Medium red with long slow legs. Blackberries and some licorice on the nose. Smooth elegant mouthfeel, lovely berry fruits, well balanced. Medium finish. Very enjoyable.

Still very young and plenty of acid. Lighter in colour than expected but didn’t disappoint in depth of flavour - earthy, a little meaty, some leather. Classic Brunello with perhaps just a slight lighter brighter edge to it.

Drink now. Nicely balanced with freshness upfront followed by softly textured finish, leather and touch of minerality. The finish fades off quickly, though. I was hoping for a bit more there.

Lacking in depth but drinking beautifully now. The wine didn’t seem to improve from a decant. Paid 59 dollars for a bottle but drinks like a 100 dollar plus wine. A great go to wine when you don’t feel like opening something expensive.

first taste of this 2010, I was hoping for more but still good. Better day 2 I agree that it seems young and better days are ahead I have 5 more bottles of this also other Brunellos 2010 so some education to come on this great vintage Jack

I don't know what to say about this wine other than Suckling got it wrong when he called this his #1 wine of the year. Some bottles have been better than others, but the overwhelming flavor palate is that of tart berries and dark, bitter currants that seem to outshine any of the more pleasant red fruit flavors that you look for in good Brunellos

Agree with others that it is still too young... but is still an enjoyable and impressive wine. Nose is wonderful, with many layered and complex characteristics. The palate doesn’t yet live up to the nose, with medium body and subtle flavours. Tannins are noticeable, but not overpowering. I’m going to keep my remaining bottles for a few more years.

Fresh for a Brunello. Soft tannins with cherry flavours make this accessible and luscious after only a few years. Delicious with beef tenderloin. Stays on and on.

Still too young, needs time. Excellent concentration of dark fruits. Complex, with a hint of smokiness. Soft fine tannins in the finish. Agree with MJB below that its leathery.

Delicious as always! The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like strawberry jam, plum and plum. It tastes like blackberry. The body is full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Incredibly energized, vibrant and electric really - so much acidity but all so composed and attractive. Feels modern in style - very expressive with grilled meats, sour cherry. Would benefit from more time to settle a bit as it is almost too racy just now, but very nice.

From half bottle. The nose showed notes of cherry and blackberry with some herbs, meat and smoke to compliment. This is a full bodied wine with mouth watering acidity, big juicy tannins and a long finish. This is delicious!

This wine seems to have evolved quite a bit since I last drank it two years ago. It is more than approachable now; I actually think it's near peak. It offers rich and ripe flavors of concentrated dark berries, dark chocolate, and cigar box. Tannins are perfect to my tastes.

Slightly darker than maroon in the glass with black cherry, olive, oak and grilled herbs on the nose. Nothing "Italian" about this wine aka not dirt or earth. Extremely smooth mouthfeel with the tannins being extremely soft.
15 minute decant at a restaurant. At home, a 3-4 hour decant would be perfect.

Made the mistake again of PnP and found this wine to be very closed, some tart fruit off the bat but not much more. After reading my notes again I decided to put the cork back in and give it a go tomorrow to see if it can open up like prior bottles.

Obviously a baby. I got a bunch o these really inexpensively because someone at Zachy's had broken a few bottles and ruined the labels. What did I care so I took them all at half price. Not an intense Brunello and not as good as the micro-houses, but extremely pleasant and good to drink. More earth and herb and spice driven than fruity.

Opened at a restaurant and poured - no decant. Red cherries on the nose and palate. Young, but still accessible upon first taste and really smoothed out by the last glass. Medium finish. Definitely needs time, but it is not bad to drink now, but should just keep getting better. Had with a Kobe beef patty melt - paired fantastically well.

Exponentially better than the last bottle drank two years ago. Double decanted 4 hours before dinner. Bright red fruit, cedar, mouth watering, hits all sides of the palate.

Bright ruby with slight bricking, shiny. Been in a decanter for around 2 1/2 hours. Not the most expressive nose, but concentrated. Beautiful dark tangy sour cherries, perhaps simmered in their own juice. This is a big wine and there is no avoiding the slightly cooked nature - it is 15% alcohol after all. It has some floral notes, violet and a bit of rose petal. The burnt orange skin is attractive. Some cinnamon and a tiny leather hint. This is pretty young but it is going in the right direction. On the palate it is not quite as singularly attractive and focused as it is on the nose. The tangy cherry is straying into slightly thin and sour. If you hold it in your mouth for a minute it rounds out a lot. There is a hint of orange skin, milk chocolate, violet. Perhaps it is a little cool and it feels like it would be best with a rich ragu or some lovely parmesan. The 2015-2020 drink date is too conservative imho. It has enough persistence and plenty of acid and alcohol, it will be fine for longer.

Hyvä brunello: tyylipuhdas, mutta aivan liian nuori. Tanniinit supertiukat ja viini huutaa ruokaa seurakseen. Tän pitäis odottaa varmaan 15 vuoden ikää ennen kun on täydessä iskussa.

Really on the red cherry end of the spectrum - combined with cocoa, and a hint of baking spice. This is a complex, complex Brunello, with years left in front of it (wish I hadn't opened my only bottle!)

- It's balanced with a medium body. Smooth texture with a medium finish - Decanted for a short time. The wine opened up after an hour in the decanter and glass. Solid fruit core and smooth. Not a heavy BdM but medium weight wine. We had it as a stand alone, and it was great.

This wine still needs a copious amount of air before it's ready to drink. Slowed oxed overnight after a small taste and this was wonderful with bucatini bolognese and mushrooms last night. Fruit forward but there is depth in this medium bodied beauty. Looking forward to my remaining bottles over the next decade or so, this will only get better.

Still a baby. Tons of red fruit still after a 2 hour decant. Slow-oxed overnight and starting to show some gravel, volcanic ash, and some green herbs by the following evening, rounding out the tartness of the raspberries. Will not touch another bottle for at least another year or 2.

Fresh and floral nose of soapy rose and tea - this wine drinks brightly for a Brunello with a fanciful red fruit character and a noted minerality. Heat... some say "ginger" amongst other tightly wound characteristics. Brine.
A lively and unique array of tastes and aromas, this wine is marred by a disjointed "berry sugar" sweetness I found detracted from an authentically Italian flavour profile.
That stated - this turkey would pair well with turkey!
Decanted this for a couple of hours. Deep rich colour. Classic Brunello nose and flavour. Pretty high alcohol content and just needs more time to come together. Have another five of these so will try another bottle in a couple of years.

Bright nose of red cherry and mineral, with some air slight ceder notes come out. Very restrained because of the young age. Silky on the palate with tangy acidity and balanced tannin's. Eucalyptus and slight menthol. A lengthy finish with some wood and fruit notes mingled together. Great value.

A dinner with friends at home: Decanted for about 20 min and drank over 1h or so. Great showing and much better than I remember the wine from the tasting. Much more expressive and aromatic than the 2001 Salvioni / Cerbaiola preceding it. Complex palate. Very approachable now. Long finish. Excellent

Definitely opened too soon. Wonderful florals on the nose, cherry fruit but also wildflowers. Alcohol at 15% ABV is a bit on the high side for my liking and came across a little sharply in the glass. Good tannic structure, still tight, but not bitterly dry. My guess is score will improve in a few years. By then, I think it'll come across as a very good value.

Understand nose, red apple skins, red cherry, lift, brooding Full bodied, clunky at first than acidity kicks in sucking moisture out of your mouth…very nice Day 2- Red clean fruit, precise aromatics, alcohol, dried herbs, Wine has slimed down and acidity more pronounced with firm tannins on the back end. Nicely structured with elegant fruit profile but, tannins are there for support. Good length, finish and concentration. Slight bitterness Day 3 – Still tight, solid red fruit, acidity and tannic frame, needs more time in bottle Purchased from retail shop and enjoyed at 60-70 with grilled beef, day 1. Drinking window 3 - 10 years…Na zdrowie

Just a baby but surprisingly approachable at this point, maybe cause this is a slightly more modern take on Brunello. Nice notes of red berries, cherries, a hint of spice. Quite drying and tannic on the palate right now do to its youth. With this, this should flesh out to be a beauty. Absolute steal at this price. Highly recommend trying this before it shuts down.

Purple garnet. The nose has an understated vanilla, and an intense sour cherry and red cranberry nose that I find common in the 2010 Brunellos. The tannins on the palate are softer than the nose would suggest but are still tart suggesting the wine can spend some time on its side. Medium mouthfeel and acidity. Well positioned but tastes young even after breathing for four+ hours. 5+12+16+7=90

I find it hard to rate this one, as the wine appears very young. Lots of air added, and the wine progressed a bit during the evening. Nose with red fruits and earthy tones. Some raisins, a bit of fig and dust also noted. The palate gives little away, but hints of alcohol and a noticeable tannin structure tells me this still is too young and should be kept for several years before the next bottle.

Brunello di Montalcino 2010 - 30 top names of the vintage (Singapore): During a guided blind tasting of 16 Brunello 2010. Medium garnet with brown hue. Expressive nose of ripe fruit with some coffee, toast, vanilla and earth. Very modern here similar in style as the Casanova di Neri. Drinks nice and soft but little typicity. No hard edges here but also not much character, for the international table. 91 Points from me. Rank 13/16 from the group.

Much too tannic right now, but much to be excited about. Smoked leather, tapenade, blackberry, violets. Intense, rough tannins on the finish. Some wines can be enjoyed young even though critics say the wines won't reach their prime for several years. This is not such a wine. I do not recommend drinking it now.

Very solid and thoroughly enjoyable, traditional leaning Brunello here from Castelgiocondo. The nose is of sweat with a hint of VA, sour cherries, leather, olive, balsamic, rosemary and an ever so slight overripe note of prunes. The palate isn't super deep or complex, but has nice elevated tannin, medium plus acid and a medium minus finish. Could see this picking up another point with time.

First sip reveals predominantly tart cherries. Earthy, with minerals. Good acid structure. Balanced and medium bodied. This is a well-knit wine. Obviously needs time, but one can see its elegance now. And with 3 or 4 hours decanting time it is quite good today. Here is an outstanding wine by a historic producer at a reasonable price ($49 on sale).

Nose of black fruits, plums and pomegranate.

Red cherry as a first impression with a spicy finish.

Comparing my note from two years ago, I think this wine is evolving and improving very nicely. It's a big, meaty Brunello heavy on cigar tobacco, tar, and smoke. The stuffing is here for at least another decade, maybe 15 years, of great evolution. If you have multiple bottles, drink one or more now, as it's clearly in its window. Allow one or more hours of decant time. Could it hit 95+ for me with another 5+ years? I have another 3 bottles and hope to find out.

Last time was slow Ox. This time try decanting.
Poured slowly into wide base decanter 4 hours before drinking. (@3 hours muted nose, already lovely palate though, tannin shows)
Nose: fresh, red fruit, cherry, mint, leafy, earthy,
Palate: so good.

Pulled cork and let stand for 19 hours.
First pour after 19 hours: Nice but still feels muted.
Use Vinaera (battery powered aerator) to pour into small 250ml bottle and let stand for another hour.
Right, now we are taking. (Though half a bottle gone already)
Nose: red fruit, leaves, mint,
Palate: wow, love it, good red fruit, with savoury length.
Now 3 hours after first pour via Vinaera, getting better and better. No longer feel the tannin.
Maybe I’ll open my other botttles later.

Finish: really tight and compact even after a 3 hour decant,
Comments: ALANM68 spoke of decanting this for at least 3-4 hours, better yet, decant it at noon and serve around 8, this wine is very tightly wound and will go to 2040 easily. All the classic Brunello Di Montalcino components are there but this wine needs serious time.
Pairing Suggestions: Classic pairings Bistecca alla Florentina, Leg of lamb, pheasant, wild boar, tuscan style steak,

Enjoyable but tannins were pretty harsh and bitter. I would have expected it to be a bit softer and smoother after a decade, and it has been stored at perfect temps it’s whole life. Probably not worth the price tag.

Dark and brooding. Needs a lot of time in the decanter, and then even more time. More black cherry than red. If you’re opening now, maybe use a blender, or decant 2-3 hours ahead. But maybe better to wait 3-5 years I mean.

Much depth and structure that was evident over several hours of decanting. Restrained layers of flavors that are slow to emerge, including relative to my prior tastings over the last few years. This could easily last another 10 years. 93-94pts (easily).

Understand nose, red apple skins, red cherry, lift, brooding
Full bodied, clunky at first than acidity kicks in sucking moisture out of your mouth…very nice
Day 2- Red clean fruit, precise aromatics, alcohol, dried herbs,
Wine has slimed down and acidity more pronounced with firm tannins on the back end. Nicely structured with elegant fruit profile but, tannins are there for support. Good length, finish and concentration. Slight bitterness
Day 3 – Still tight, solid red fruit, acidity and tannic frame, needs more time in bottle
Purchased from retail shop and enjoyed at 60-70 with grilled beef, day 1. Drinking window 3 - 10 years…Na zdrowie

Obviously needs time, but one can see its elegance now. And with 3 or 4 hours decanting time it is quite good today. Here is an outstanding wine by a historic producer at a reasonable price ($49 on sale).
