This is a wow ! very serious and complex Nero d'avola. I first tried Mille e una Notte at La Saletta in Corotona back in 2000. I fell in love immediately. This is deep hugely aromatic with complex flavors of blackberries and cherries, complicated by spices, and beautiful balancing acidity. At 11 years old this was singing, but it still had a tannic backbone and massive amounts of fruits which has now sent me on a search for more of the '11s. Beautiful wine.

Absolutely perfect now. Intense nose (dark fruits, banana, chocolate), full bodied with very good acidity, lots of fruit, very long finish. All in all very balanced, great joy!

Dark ruby. Expressive nose of ripe dark fruit, plummy, cherry liquer with sweet spice, vanilla and some meaty nuances. Very good balance, refined with vibrant fruit, medium tannins and balancing acidity, fresh with medium to long tannins.

Winefield's pre-sale tasting 9/22: Will this wine soften in future? The colour is nearly black, fat and cream in the bouquet, juicy, very concentrated, powerful, missing however some complexity in the aftertaste. A very interesting wine.

Admittedly one of this juicy new style italian ones, BUT, enormous tension, delicious red cassis, and spicy as a red can be, Nero D´Avola, Syrah, PV and others in the blend, smoky, meaty, a really well made high class crowd pleaser, I am really enamored tonight! Will improve by further cellaring! **(*+ -?), 91, 92(+) potential

Very nice bottle. Very full bodied wine, with black fruit profile, mild touch of acidity, moderate tannins and length, and alcohol well integrated. Delicious. Pricey, so not sure if I'll get more. Somewhat similar, but with some acid thrown in, to a Melka Cab Sauv I've had recently.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Alpharetta, GA): Opaque core with maroon rim; cedar, dark cherry, new oak, dusty, juicy dark fruit, herbs, dark berry; juicy and tart, bigger, structured but lithe and high acid, cedar, fine grain tannin, slight roasted fruit; called '11 Chianti IGT but the Barbera call made sense; one of the freshest bottles of this to date.

Gambero Rosso Singapore 2017. Sniff, sip, spit. Only impressions. Rich ripe red and black berry fruit with oak. Massive puckering tannins. Immense concentration. Maybe a few more years to integrate and for the tannins to soften. Nero d'Avola, Petit Verdot, Syrah, small amount of Tannat and ?some other grapes.

Retail $55. Nero d'Avola, Petit Verdot, Syrah, e altre uve (and other grapes). I am not sure if anyone else blends together these three varieties, but if others do, it has to be a fairly short list. Nero d’Avola, Sicily’s signature black grape, can be rather coarse with firm tannins and require extensive oak exposure. Similarly, Petit Verdot (despite its name) can produce big and bold wines that can often be difficult to tame, which is why it is mostly used as a blending variety, as it is here. As a result, it is quite surprising how mellowly delightful this wine is: brilliant nose of dark fruit, rich mocha, and a dash of smoke. On the palate, this is completely approachable—no doubt the six plus years of aging have been beneficial. In fact, this is more than approachable, this is lovely. Alone or paired with just about any protein, this wine continues to evolve, causing more than its fair share of introspection. Outstanding. 92-94 Points. thedrunkencyclist.com

Vinitaly 2016; 4/10/2016-4/13/2016 (Verona, Italy): Rich nose, high intensity of ripe red and black fruit, a few overripe notes, prunes. Palate is rich too, high acidity, big tannins, very fresh red and black fruit, the oak is more upfront here than the nose, it still is very fresh, ends with a med to long finish

NOT blind
Interesting - straight from the bottle, quite a powerhouse. Dark and broody yet not too alcoholic in the back end.
Then after an hour decant (and with comparison to the other wines in the blind flights) it appeared to have thinned significantly.
Dark fruit on the nose with definite cherry notes. Tannins 7+
