Combine the 9/28/2017 and the 2nd of the 4/24/18 notes, and that would be my review of this wine. Don't usually like this much persimmon shoulders astringence, but the fun part's refined intensity makes it all worth it Drinking this @73° instead of 67 reduced the last glass's tannins significantly

Solid Barolo. Nose wet earth and red florals. Palate full, textured tannins, acidity, wood, fair complexity and depth, slow to evolve during 90 minute dinner.

A nice bottle for the price. Still young but the nose is pronounced and full of sour cherry and tar. What you expect in a nice Barolo. This 2013 is green and tightly wound; none of the stewed over ripeness in other vintages. Vibrant, light weight, and tongue smacking tart when opened, which mellowed just a little with a couple hours of air. The acidity is very zippy. Tannins will fade with another 10 years but this is fun to drink now if looking for something with a big nose and a sharp edge.

I’m obviously in the minority from reading the other notes, but I didn’t love this wine. Not a lot of structure. It was just weak and chalky to me. Maybe I need to try again.
Popped and poured through a venturi. I don't see the need for a long decant with this one as it came to life immediately. Lovely nose with black cherry, moss, and red licorice. The tannins are silky and subdued offering a lush and soft mouth feel. There are a lot of earthy secondary characteristics showing on the palate, but enough red and blue fruit to make it delicious and complex. IMHO this won't be better in 10 years...drink up!

Light red. Sour cherry aroma right out of the bottle with pine notes later. Lighter, elegant weight. Tart red fruit as the nose suggests, herbs, and soil with terrific acidity that slices through everything. Light tannins. Not profound but an excellent lighter bodied Nebbiolo that is surprisingly drinkable now although it clearly has further development ahead. Happy we tried this from a list.

Comparé avec Altare, celui-çi est plus rustique et doit vraiment se boire avec de la nourriture pour diminuer son côté austère. Il est fait pour de la garde et personnellement je le garderais encore 5-10 ans.

Tightly wound and just entering its drinking window, this entry level Barolo ticks all of the classic Barolo boxes. Red and dark cherry fruit, blackberry, tar, leather. Energetic with tons of potential that will give it greater scores with more time but still very enjoyable now.

Second Sunday Group: 2013 Barolo (Neil's): Double blind. Opens with black fruit along with aromas of dried flowers, herbs and mineral. Nice red and black fruit on the palate. The nose and palate become more red fruit dominant as it opens further in the glass, developing pretty spice notes too. Lengthy finish. Had I waited another twenty minutes, I'd likely have this ranked higher, as it kept getting more floral and elegant.

E' un Barolo corretto, che va dritto al punto. Senza fronzoli. Pulito, lineare ma soprattutto buono. Però decisamente troppo giovane. Da attendere almeno altri 3 anni .... meglio 5

2013 in Barolo is one of those rare vintages you infrequently find in France and elsewhere - where your lowest rated wine is actually pretty good or really good. While this wine remains quite acidic and tannin astringent, the underlying nebbiolo fruit very much impresses. I think when these wines start to come good in maybe five to eight years, lots of the scores on 2013 Barolos just might change. I'm thinking this one may go up more than a few notches.

Deep ruby and tightly wound, this wine gives hints on the nose and palate of something potentially great. Primary dark fruits are accented with savory herbs, licorice, pine nuts and pipe tobacco. Full-bodied, freshly acidic, judiciously oaked and with well-integrated alcohol, it wraps its flavors with abundant chewy tannins. The tannic grip is pervasive throughout the middle palate and lengthy finish. This will need substantial cellar time, but should ultimately be worth the wait. Drink 2025-2040.

WS Grand Tour 2018, New York. Mid ruby. Red fruit, ethereal notes, a hint of tea and blood, accompanied by a dirty, earthy oak component (if that combination makes any sense) on the nose. The palate was less complex than expected from the interesting nose, with drying tannin and dry tea leaves, and average to good length. I am a fan of Colonello and Romirasco, but the Bussia always is a let-down to me. Hold.

WS Grand Tour in NYC (Marriott Marquis): This didn’t really stand out to me all that much. It’s clearly much too young. More of the drying tannin. Very light, but not in a ‘great acidity and balanced way’. Almost in a ‘lacking flavor’ way. I wonder if it would gain a bit more heft with some time.

P: Med, poss MF, body; NICE, ALMOST swtish frt QUICKLY met by PUCKERISH astringency which transitions into quite a LONG, BALANCED finish which, while showing only a gradual relinquishing of its grip, ALSO shows glimpses of revisiting that initial frt. A *bonafide* LONG distance runner, I'd not even consider touching this until at LEAST 2026, then drinking for many more. :) My EXC+, with some level of EXCEPTIONALITY an eventual "given"! 96 pts Suckling, 94 ea WS & WE [@ $90], 93+ WA, & 17+/20 Jancis Robinson. This wine is a BABY. Nose is a softer, brambly cherry cough drop. The entry of this wine has good weight and good acidity. Can smell and detect the youth almost immediately. Middle of cola, herbs, breakfast tea. Finish of raspberry youth, tannin, herb farm, great acidity, lots of charm. I have a feeling that this wine will continue developing quite a bit over the next 2 decades. For those who are looking for this one to develop, it will do so QUITE a bit for the next 15-20 years. The structure on this wine is massive, and quite impressive. Still going to show its stuff for the next 20-30 years.

92 poeng.

Infanticide! OK, so I know that this wine is too young, but curiosity killed and WOW, this was a great little Barolo served young, and I can only imagine how 10 years in the bottle is going to thicken this one up. Double decanted this one for sure. The wine was a pretty crimson color and translucent (dirty raspberry). The nose was pretty light, raspberry and youthful black cherry, and sweet floral. The nose wins awards. The palate is a cherry cola dominated front! More of a monster than the appearance and nose would have probably alluded to. After 3 hours, MAN this wine has a lot of complexity on the palate. The nose was black cherry, some herb, and orange rind? The middle of this wine was pretty darn smooth. Finished with a little mineral-rich black cherry. Cola note was there, but stronger in the front. Wow man, what a treat!
