Popped and poured from fridge temperature into a Grassl Liberte. The aromas jump from the glass with lemon, stones, yeast, and marzipan. The acid and breads/nuttiness actually reminds me faintly of my sourdough starter (RIP).
The palate is lively, lemony, and acid forward with plenty of mineral backing. The mousse is fine, and the texture is overall enveloping and silky. The finish brings the more dosage-inflected nutty elements in a way I enjoy. There and adding pleasure but not overpowering the acid drive.

this is delish. color is dark straw. mousse shows tiny beads. Has that oxygen kissed citrus peel that i love. shows its heritage of mostly meunier but has plenty of structure so not too earthy. new producer for me that i enjoy.

Pizza Night on the Parkway (Candie's, Mpls): Light gold. Small glass. Yeasty, lemon, white fruits, good minerality and minerality. I always seem to pass on these when I come across an offer, so it was nice to try one again. This was very enjoyable, thanks Craig.

Loire valley (and a little Champagne); 9/14/2023-9/22/2023: From 75cl, served by the glass at Domaine de Bergerie * restaurant in Layon. Nothing wrong with this bone dry "gastronomic" wine except the inflated price charged by the restaurant (€18/10cl). Tiny bubbles, good concentration and vinosity, reasonably persistent finish. If that sounds non-descript and austere, well so was the wine, which would surely appeal more to Cava lovers than it did to me. It did, however show up the more basic quality of the DdBergerie wines which followed it all too clearly... 88–89P

Did not like this. Big ripe fruit but not nearly enough acid/minerality so it just felt flabby. Yogurt-y note didn't help. Maybe it would be better colder? Unlikely

80 PM, 20 PN from a producer most famous for PM. Perpetual blend back to 2003.
Under ripe gren apple, under ripe pear, clove, white pepper, allspice and nutmeg on the nose. Smells super interesting, though not a ton of yeast aromas. The medium + intensity of aromas helps too. The palate does add a note of fresh baked brown bread while keeping the spice notes consistent with the aromas. If you've ever had "seed bread", that's what this tastes like. Sharp and chalky all around.
Medium body with medium acid. Super interesting expression of Champagne and I love the flavors that PM brings to this. I want to try their other wines.

Shows a nice brassy colored tinge of PM, very apple/pear on the profile but lovely and I think like most wines of not all from Mousse well worth the money ++

Another offering from our Bubbles and cheese event. Traditional elegant Champagne bubbles compared with some other regions. Fruit, spice and freshness from 80% meunier, 20% pinot noir is evident here. Paired with grass-fed double cream local (Ga) "brie" along with green apple slices, walnuts and artisan sea salt crackers

Lots of fine bubbles! Wonderful brioche nose. High acid wine showing crisp Granny Smith type apple flavors. Quite nice but a bit much on the acidity. I drank it stand alone but I think it would go much better with food.

My note from last year sums this up nicely. Same disgorgement. A bright, refreshing sparkling wine that just doesn't carry the heft or depth you expect from a Champagne. A very good sparkling wine given those caveats. Still shows some yeasty notes. A nice pure fruit portrait.

An austere, mineral dominant, low or zero dosage champagne. Initially slightly thin and metallic, opened up with time. At $50, not exactly a paradigm of value.

3/19 disgorgement. Claims "Perpetuelle" 2003-2014 but given how fresh this fruit is I would have to think its a large portion 2014. Zero dosage. Clearly Pinot Meunier is my first impression(80%) given the slight pink leaning color and the stone fruit aroma. Touch of biscuit yeastiness. Very bright and fresh palate. Lacks some richness and depth. Fresh acidic finish. Clean and balanced. Given the lack of depth it almost drinks like a sparkling wine not of Champagne. Though it would be a top notch wine from elsewhere. It is nice if maybe lacking that oomph you want from the region. A good wine in any case.

Killer stuff. Heady yeast nose, great body, rich but not opulent, depth and zing side by side. Fizzy finish. Barely "oxidative" at all, as other notes have mentioned. 27/03/2018 disgorgement.

Well, I should have read the retailer's descriptors twice before buying this! While my retailer lauds the "solera" approach here, I taste oxidation I never appreciate in champagne. Too bad, this has some zingy acidity and minerality but can't get past its oxidative notes. The darker mature gold color, and nutty flavor makes this seem 10 years past prime for my palate. Disgorged March 20 2019.

Light bready yeast on the nose. On the palate, yellow apple, brioche/toast, and notes of lemon and some nuttiness on the medium finish, with a fine bubble, creamy texture, and strong acidity. This is an excellent value for around $45.

Little or no dosage, bracing acid. Noticeable but not pronounced brioche. Nice round pinot meunière flavors. Lemon. Not the most cooperative food wine.

Medium golden; medium to medium-plus intensity aromatics with brioche, toast, slight lemon, slightly earthy; palate is medium bodied, vibrant medium-plus acidity throughout, well integrated, delicate mousse, barely perceptible sweetness but not 100% dry (extra brut), lemon-lime, citrus, nice depth, fades just a tad through the midpalate; medium length finish. This is a nice balance of freshness and age (solera-styled with vintages back to 2003), and it would make a killer house champagne for the price. I do like this extra brut better than their brut version. 91-92

This hit me more intellectually than pleasurably. At least on the first night. There was a fruit skin like quality towards the finish that threw me. It also drank very dry, like no dosage. Well, it's close. It's 1g/L. This is Pinot Meunier dominant(80%) with Pinot Noir filling it out. From a solera back to 2003 AND late disgorged. But I wasn't getting a sense of those things either. On night two this has filled out some. There is a bit of a leesy sense among more filled out, richer feeling fruit. That dosage is there on the finish. I liked this quite a bit more on night #2. Disgorged almost a year ago 27/02/18. Interesting wine. I'll leave the other bottle be for a while and see if rest gives it a bit more coherency upon awakening.

Disgorged 10.03.2017 (not sure if that date is in Euro or US order), 7 g/L dosage. Very Meuniery, with its earthy golden/black fruit character. I like the earthiness. Good persistence. Nice.
Nice way to recover from a crappy and crazy day at work followed by a 4 hour drive in the dark. Similar to the recent previous notes, biscuits, lemon, good bubbles, lovely and complex for the money.

New bottling, disgorged Jan 2018, d=7. Warm croissant , almond and fresh apple on the nose. Rich and complex, plenty of citrus acidity, but not bracing. I like the texture and freshness. Multiple small bubbles. Clean finish.

Recommend by Eric at Apex Wines. Great nose even when still cold. Profuse small bubbles, lemon curd, marzipan, touch of vanilla and oak, fresh, lively, and long smooth finish. Plenty of citrus, packed with multiple flavors, will definitely need to get more.
Blind: guessed champagne and possible Pinot Meunier but not sure.
Light lime and very dry, bone dry. Lean and strong mineral foundation. Gives off that "brassy" note which made me think "PM". Very good but tightly coiled and definitely in need of more airtime and another 5+ years in the cellar.

Cream colored. Tight, lively bubbles that come and go quickly. Smells of nuts and earth. The Menuier comes through. Red fruits and a creamy, expansive palate that is almost butter and shows bits of earthy funk. Puckering tart green apple finish that is really wiry. I like this a good bit.

After all the chardonnays it certainly smells like Meuinier. Some forest floor, earthy fruits, the red fruit of Pinot showing off, just opened, freshness up a bit to deliver more red fruits. And chocolate. Complex on the nose.
