Still very greenish bright in color, doesn´t seem to be seven years old. The nose is also impeaccably fresh: green apples, citrus, and a very clear tone of sea, salt and chalk. Very mineral nose, almost a bit too tight. The same can be said for the mouth. High acidity on the way in, on the mid palate the acidity is just searing, combining very fresh citrus/green apple tones with an almost tannic feel that transforms into chalk and seasalt. The finish is very fresh. Almost a bit too much, but overall it is saved by the fine green apple and lime fruit that lingers for a long time on the aftertaste. This wine just seems a bit too monolithic at the moment, but I feel that there is so much more to be revealed with some time. I´ll wait at least five years with the next bottle. The 2017 vintage seems to be one of the last «classic» Chablis-vintages, perhaps with the exception of 2021.

Still amazingly young in color, almost water clear with an intense green glimmer. Tight and young at the nose, giving little more than some lime and green apples, and those typical tones of sea salt and chalk. Medium bodied attack on the palate, lots of citrus and green apples on the mid palate, high acidity and an slightly bitter tone like grapefruit. The aftertaste is high in acidity, but also with a strong note of salt and chalk. The finish is lemon and salt. This wine has just started it's aging process (I wonder when this will start, if ever?). With food - we had grilled scallops - the wine expands to include some more fruity tones. This bodes well for the future. This bottle was much younger and immature than the last. There must be some serious bottle variation here.

The color has already gained a golden hue from aging. On the nose, age has also become quite pronounced: red apples, lime, a lactic tone (milky), and an underlying tone of minerals and salt. Medium to full bodied attack, a lactic feel on the mid palate combined with lime and apples. Although the acidity is quite forward, the finish is a bit heavy for a Chablis of this rank. The aftertaste is pleasant and fresh, with fine and classic notes of green apples and lemon, but still it lacks the mineral feel you expect from Montee de tonnerre. OK, I see that this came out quite negative. The wine is good, almost outstanding, but still I feel that the aging has come a bit to far, and what about that lactic feel?

pale yellow color, nose of toast and apple, sleek mineral flows, on the palate very open with stone and apple notes, dense with good tension, flower petals, long and lean finish with elegant acids, a very good Chablis and one where a long wait is not required, this may develop a bit more but for the most part it is ready to go, with time in hand.

Notes from a bottle opened the day before and kept in the fridge over night. Golden straw color, still with green streaks. Fine notes of apples, lime, a whiff of licorice, and that dusty/crushed stone element. Medium to full bodied attack. Very fine fruit up front, dominated by citrus and green apples. The wine expands on the palate including again those tones of licorice. Very fine balance where acidity and fruit are in perfect harmony. The finish is a bit tart, and the aftertaste is extremely mineral and salty. Salt tones lingers for almost a minute, only complemented by dry citrus tones. A very fine and classic Chablis, perhaps lacking some fruit for extensive cellaring. Will keep for a long time, but I guess that the acidity will win over the fruit.

At five years of age, this one should have reached at least the beginning of the optimum age. The color has gained in depth, verging on deep straw with green tones. Classic nose of citrus and green apples with a sweeter tone reminiscent of pears at the front, some clear tones of sea and oysters at the back. Nice. Medium to full bodied attack. Fine tones of lemon, green apples, pear and hint of mint (!) on the mid-palate. Very good acidity to balance the fruity mouthfeel. The aftertaste is long and fruity, perhaps lacking a bit of the minerality I expect from this producer and vineyard. Probably caused by the vintage that is rumored to be on the "fruity" side. This wine is clearly very good, but lacks some of the intensity I expect from this producer and this vintage.

My first dip into the 2017 Louis Michels and the Montée de Tonnerre is showing beautifully already. It only needs a little bit of air to unfurl, but appears to have the material for a decade of aging.
Pale green-yellow color. Nice energy and drive, showing citrus and a touch of pith, lime zest, saline minerality,
Looking forward to drinking the remaining bottles spaced over the following 5+ years.

This is terrific and very fairly priced. Lemon yellow color and a nose that shows floral, chalk and tangerine peel notes. Ripe and pretty rich for Chablis. It has a decently linear finish to tie things together. Not entirely typical but delicious nonetheless. (92)

Straw yellow, rather evolved for its age. Classic nose of green apples with strong tones of crushed stone and chalk. Feels a bit heavy for Chablis. Round, medium bodied attack, fine acidity in the mouth, good tones of green apples and a tone of something more sweet and exotic (peach?), not much minerals in the mouth or in the aftertaste, but a fine, fresh finish that is medium length. A good wine, but I find it downright unexciting. There is something missing here that I expect from a good producer and a very good vineyard. Is this an "off" bottle? I remember it as better. If this bottle is correct it is not a wine for aging, but it will probably drink well for the next 3-5 years.

Light straw yellow with brilliant streaks of green. Quite closed at first, but after an hour or so (and getting warmer) classic aromas emerge: green apples, lime, lemon zest (ginger?), and that chalky tone. Medium bodied attack, lots of green apples and lime, wonderful balance between an appley fruit, acidity and an almost tannic dry mass feeling. The aftertaste is long but quite monolithic, only revealing modest tones of minerals (some dust and chalk). This is clearly too young. Keep for at least 2-3 more years, then drink over the next decade. Perfect with boiled shellfish with a drop of lime.

very good. Citrus, crushed seashells, yellow apple skins, a touch of herbs, cream, and honey with air. As with the 2 butteaux bottlings, this has very impressive texture. Acid is mod+ and spot on for balance. I'm yet to have a 17 Louis Michel that did not impress

Oyster shell herbs and lemon on the nose with some dry stone dust notes. This is lemony drug and spicy on the palate with beautifully supporting acidity carrying this wine forward.

Still a baby, but showing extremely well at the moment. Bleak colour, almost waterm but with a green, brilliant tone. After some minutes in the glass, the wines opens up and gives all those primary aromas you expect from a classic Chablis of high quality: green apples, sea salt, and lemon. In additon it has a fascinating tone of dry hay! Medium bodied, fruity atack of green apples, some peach and bit of vanilla. Then the lemon-like acidity kicks in, creating a very green apples aftertaste that lingers for a whole minute (plus). The taste still lacks the mineral tones I expect from this vineyard, but from the nose I think that will emerge more clearly in a couple of years. Keep for 2-3 years, and drink over the next decade or so. it will get better and deserve a better score in a short time. Very good value in today's market.

So very young but promising. The stainless fermentation and aging shows, as this wine is very fresh, with a nose of lemon, iodine, a hint of orange rind and apple, followed by a full-bodied, fresh, energetic palate, showing hints of minerality on a complex, long finish. Will be excellent in 2-3 years, I believe, with 91-92 point potential.

Light, crisp and delicious over two nights. Typical Chablis characteristics on the Louis Michel frame. My wife particularly enjoyed this. I’ve heard 2017 is expected to be a good vintage for Chablis and this bottle would support that.

Riper apple and orange blossom scents don't detract from an otherwise classic Chablisienne nose of iodine and crushed stone. A vibrant and crisp palate carries fairly powerful fruit and mineral flavors buoyed by nice acidity. A very good MdT. Drink starting 2022.
