Highly reflective light gold color, very pretty. Mineral lime zest on the nose. Powerful and penetrating acids with lime zest notes as well as powerful minerality and a mild underlying sweetness that balances nicely with the acidity. Very tasty.

My second bottle and it’s a stunner. Blind, this is a premier cru white chassagne. I mean, there’s some warm climate exoticism to it, but the oak and acidity scream burgundy. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were Francois Freres or something. Smashingly good wine I’m eager to replace.

Mostly clear with a light green tinge. Strongly mineral nose with lemon and lime zest. This wine manages to have a light body with a heavy presence. Notes of lemon, lime, pomelo, quince, gooseberry, with a lingering mixed citrus finish. Absolutely delicious.
At Lunch, The Queensland Club. Another delicious vintage of Leeuwin with a pale clear primary colour and a rich nose of white peach, Nashi pear, lemon zest, cashew and petrichor. The palate is still quite primary yet rich with both texture and austerity to carry it foward into a long future. There is some lovely complexity here but under Stelvin this will evolve very slowly.

Tasting of Leeuwin Estate Art Series, hosted by The Wine Society, UK. Medium gold colour. Lovely nose. The palate starts slightly bitter, which may be an effect of the salt, being close to the ocean. Then the palate softens to show apples, minerality. There is no obvious oak. Well balanced.

In March 2017 in my review of the 2011 I wrote "This is one of the most consistent chardonnays in the world in my view. Perhaps a little more restraint than in the past but tremendous balance, length and complexity. Youthful but already delicious. 10 years plus to go."
This 2017 at a similar age is in a similar place, but while restraint and balance are there, length and complexity are not currently evident. This is very considered winemaking but I do miss the more exuberant style of the past. Under Screwcap.

This label represents one of the most unique and memorable Chardonnay’s, which I’ve enjoyed over the past twelve years; second vintage which I’ve enjoyed since 2020. Differentiates itself from Burgundy, California, Chile, and all other Chardonnay producing areas: pale to medium lemon color; taut mouthfeel; judicious use of oak; highly aromatic; wonderful intense array of white and yellow fruit clusters; balanced; and unmistakable terrior driven minerality. Worked perfectly with the baked lobster ravioli, prawns, and spinach, topped with creamy Alfredo sauce. Pricey at $70 USD, but this will successfully compete with any Premier level white Burgundy or upper echelon CA Chardonnay’s. Not yet at peak, drink through 2030+. Bottled under screw cap.

Quite delicious - maybe it gets better if we wait, but wow it’s tasty now. Exceptional balance of all the things I like about high end Chardonnay - a whiff of reduction, white/floral fruit, zippy acid, and not a hint of vanilla or butter. Yum. Just yum. A notch or two leaner than Aubert, but in that quality range.

Off-lite green with a slight yellow tinge. Lime and calcium in the nose. a little watery in the mouth-feel with lime and minerals dominating. Strong acids and energy. Lemon water on the finish. Drink up, this won’t get any better and seems like it is starting to degrade a bit.
Honeysuckle, camphor, lemon, peach, hint of butter and vanilla, just a slightly creamy texture and nutty finish. Precise acidity and some mineral tones.
This is still drinking very young - it has a pronounced green, stemmy, almost Gruner-like note upfront that is starting to give way to the classic Leeuwin Chardonnay truffle and funk and body. This was tasty now, though I'll hold on to my last bottle for at least another year before trying again.

Same tasting as collector. Double blind. Very pale color. Was getting a touch of gras upon opening which disappeared as the wine warmed up a bit. Aromatically fairy muted with some citrus and white fruit, on the palate a bit oily though without showing too much aromas. Guessed 2019 NZ Chardonnay, and surprised to see such an iconic Western Australian wine. Must say that a recent 2017 Kumeu Hunting Hill was head and shoulders above this 2017 Art Series.

Tasted blind. Felt a bit like a turbo charged version of a Merusault with additional sweetness. There is good freshness and I also like the reductive winemaking style here with lemon zest, minerals and flowers. Just a bit too unctuous for my palate, 13.5% Alc is obviously adding to that sweet sensation.
Still a classic - bit sharp up front but great shimmering acidity and tropical guava notes underneath. Not overly oaked. Was great with lemon tarragon chicken.

Totally babykilled but we had to see what all the fuss was about. Initially somewhat tight, but after being open for a couple hours hoo boy was this thing singing. It had some puligny-esque popcorn boquet, lovely citrus, blossom, spice, lightly tropical notes on both the palate and nose, zingy acidity, great presence without being heavy, finish to spare; tasted on par with at least a very good 1er cru beaune white if not better, kicking ourselves we didn't buy more to lay down for a while. OZ & NZ Chardonnay Lunch (Grappa Leichhardt): Served with the Giaconda. Pale, with a subtle yet complex nose of toasty oak, white nectarine and peach. Voluminous Chardonnay fruit with smoke, ginger and grilled nuts. A more obvious wine than the G and a real crowd pleaser with no edges, just quality in every direction. (A blend of the two was almost perfect).
Quite dense and tight, with loads of citrus and stone fruit. It had a gentle thread of spice and really good minerally posture. The finish was cut with grapefruit-like acidity and length of flavour is superb.

Opened this gem for my wife's birthday this weekend, and it lived up to expectation.
We paired it with anchovy butter salmon with roasted carrots and parsnips, and artichokes, which turned out to be a great pairing.
Lemon, stone fruit, hints of grapefruit and maybe some lavender hidden away on the nose, and this tracked well to the palate, all tied in with a nice creaminess that was balanced with the high acid present. Kind of reminded me of a Puligny-Montrachet. Very nice.

There's a lot going on here. Initial notes of pear and tropical fruits on the palate quickly pivots to lemon peel, oak, and minerals. A spicy, peppery note builds as it warms, and the abundant acidity keeps it feeling fresh. Long finish. This has intensity in spades, and while it feels a touch disjointed right now, it should integrate nicely with time. Best Aussie Chardonnay I've had for sure.

Light bright gold. Wonderful tension on the nose, lemon, green apple, ripe but amazing fresh vibrant acidity that you rarely see Down Under. So exciting, the length is quite surreal, builds in waves as the acidity brings each layer of fruit over your palate. Wow, this is Burgundian beating in this vintage. Hardly any oak, just super healthy fruit, handle with care and allowed to sing. Bravo! Will be even better over the next 2-3 years.

A very “essence of Chardonnay” style. Very concentrated. Fairly modern, though it does seem higher in alcohol than 13.5%
Personally, I find their Prelude 2018 (third the price) more fun. It too is a straight down the middle, full flavoured Chardonnay, but seems to have a sense of fun about it, whereas this is similar style but serious.
For me there are more funky, interesting Chardonnays from Australia and quite a lot that are pure fruit for fewer dollars.
Wonderful nose of bright and creamy lemon curd with white flowers and minerals. Immediately impressive. The palate wonderfully balances juicy acidity and unusual richness. Lemon cream and lemon verbena, orange peel and pear notes with a very pleasing salinity. J. loved it. I loved it. This is one to stock up on and drink over several years.

This starts out a bit taut and quite tart and immediately reminiscent of top tier Chablis. But even at PnP, it is the building backend and very long finish that first begins to impress. Better the second night and bodes well for further cohesion and complexity. The biggest difference on night #2 is the pleasant reduction in tart acidity.
On the open showing seashell, cracked stone, some flint (some reduction?), lime and lemon zests, barely ripe tropical fruits. The backend builds and the finish evolves for a minute or more. Lemon and other citrus and stone fruit, both fresh and baked, melon, sweet herb.
This is excellent and it ought to be at the price tag. I have a hard time assessing QPR as I don't have enough samples of the very best 1er Cru or even Grand Cru Chablis or white Burgundy. For those who are accustomed to paying $100+ for excellent, but not mindblowing / status-infused white Burgundy, this could show as a bargain. For those who have had a number of excellent whites in the $35-$60 range, this might pull a bit high.
Aside: Editing my note after seeing another TN indicating 100% new oak. I'd not have guessed it. The roundness on the backend might capture it. If it's 100% new oak, I guess light toast and very classy restraint.

Accessed with Coravin. Even at this young stage, the wine is beautiful and incredibly structured. On the nose pear, white peach, salted almonds, lemon, lemon curd, butter interwave in a powerful assault. There is also some oaky toast, but not nearly as prominent as the 100% new oak would indicate. On the palate, the wine is still tightly wound, but incredibly pleasurable, with a line of acidic backbone carrying through from start to finish. Consistent with the nose, there is a saltiness mixed in with the fruit flavours that is really appealing. This has the stuffing to age for a very long time.
I couldn’t say it better, it takes your breath away sensational
this review is from Nicks.com.au
Brilliant very pale straw in colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Soaring from the glass are potent aromatics of fleshy white peaches, nectarine and light dried honey all subtlety infused with cinnamon. Adding further interest are notions of biscuit, citrusy nougat characters and faint gun flint. Powerful and rich yet remarkably fresh and finessed at the same time, fleshy white peach, nectarine and delicate grapefruit flavours fill the mouth over a background of dried honey, citrusy nougat characters, biscuity oak and infusions of gun flint. Outstanding depth with a long elegant, gently creamed tinged finish that sees the appearance of a light roasted almond element. Cellar 6-8 years. Alc. 13.5%
Lovely purity of fruit, showing fresh white peach, green melon and tangerine. There's a touch of spice and freshly churned butter too. It is explosive and powerful, in the mouth. It has perfect shape and supreme length. It is Australia's Batard.

Very nice.

Nice Chardonnay. Light in color. Slightly lacking in acidity but not at all flabby. Enjoyed it but not worth the tarriff IMO.

Green apple and lemon. White pepper. Built on acidity. Long as hell. White stone fruit. Perky and cooler vintage on show. The 16 is power and texture. The 17 is length for days built on acidity. Drink in 5. 96

2021 New Year's @ Ben's!: Yellow fruits, stone fruits, apricot, lemon flint, wet stones. Plush, tasty, vibrant and not overbearing. Really enjoyed this tonight! Called this a Burg from a good producer.

13.5%, screwcap.
