Aligotasting (Utregs Wijnhuis): [Tasted blind] Bonus bottle after the tasting, no detailed notes. Pop and pour and that is something that does not work. The tannins were a full main course to chew on. Leave it in the cellar for 8-10 years or give it plenty air

Good quality. Very discrete nose with some flowers and red fruit. Maybe in a bad phase right now I won’t open my other bottles just yet. Good length and a refreshing mouthfeel but something seemed off. Not very balanced.

Mediium ruby. This wine needed time to open up and was better the second night. Aromas of toast, tobacco, wet leather, coffee, blackberry, black currants. On the palate the wine is dry with medium acidity and medium plus chalky tannins. The body is medium plus with medium plus flavor intensity- primarily black currant, blackberries, coffee, toast, wet leather, and tobacco. The finish was medium with some black fruit but overall marred by the alcohol heat- the high alcohol out of balance with the fruit.

Crowd-pleasing, concentrated, creamy red fruits. As dense as fruit compote. Bit stalky and green tannically. A few more years in bottle will probably smooth this wine out. Really memorable fruit explosion on the palate, though. Certainly not boring.

Went in sceptical since I thought the Flor de Pinguses I've tried was a bit dissapointing, but this was really nice. Quality oak that started shining after 1hr in decanter (before that almost non-existent), very round and big mouthfeel with a long finish. The small amount of Granacha had a really nice presence with some blood orange and herbs.

Opaque purple w/ deep garnet edge in color. Decanted in glass for 2+ hours. Nose of blackcurrants & plum with a hint of vanilla and clove. On the palate: mouth-coating burst of currants, macerated strawberries and a hint of iron. Dusty tannins are perceived mostly on the gums. Long finish of red berries, minerals and wood spice. Wine has become more harmonious in the last year and will probably continue to improve for 3-5 more years.

90+ points right now but still quite young, anticipate improvement with several more years of maturation and will then drink well for a decade+. Had at Artisanal in Banner Elk NC in the NC High Country on their opening night for this season. Definitely recommend with the above caveat that at this point this is still a young and bit disjointed wine. Opened table side, right now if possible would definitely recommend at least a 1-2 hour decant. Deep purple, strong muscular core with controlled tannins, fruit forward and long aftertaste. Nose dark and aromatic with dark stone fruit, kitchen spices, black pepper and a hint of smoke. Flavor profile at this point actually a bit lighter then expected especially with the nose - controlled oak and dark stone fruit followed by an unexpected almost pinot like red cherry, raspberry and spice which may speak to the 12% garnacha and 2% white grapes blendec into this otherwise tempranillo blend.

Lighter on its feet than I'd expected, yet at least a few years away from really shining, this is a fascinating wine. Subtle notes of red plum, blackberry, and roasted tomato coalesce on a lithe frame, with fresh acidity and a hint of tar and tannin on the finish.

Fruity nose with primarily red cherry and plum notes. Little to no oak. On the palate; power first, then more elegant. Plum, pepper, liquorice, leather, kind of earthy, in a good way. Medium tannin, full body, nice acidity. Perhaps some green notes, not sure.
I have nothing to complain about and it will be exciting to follow this wine for some years.
In my opinion a bargain at this price point (279SEK) and a unique story bahind it. 91p.

Decanted 90 minutes.darkish red co.or. No bricking so obviously a young wine. Super light tannins and searching for what grape this might be. Oldish World nose. Not Pinot, Cab, Merlot, Syrah or other major grapes. You might guess Sangiovese but it’s not that. I’ve had many RiberaWinesbut this isso soft and drinkable. Great wine at a great QPR.

Love hate experience. Bought it based on wine critic reviews and was absolutely disappointed. Maybe its young or maybe it just doesnt have the potential. Very light wine, all the traditional Tempranillo notes and flavors but extremely light. I know the price seems enticing but I would stay away.
No notes taken. From magnum. I like the freshness, the light and airy texture and feel combined with a high aromatic intensity. At first a bit wild and unintegrated (acidity not integrated), this came nicely together with some air. It displays ripe red and dark fruits as well as earthy notes, not very complex but with good precision. It is not stimulating and deep enough to truly excite but certainly fun to drink. 89/90 pts.
Deep purple/ruby in color. Medium intensity nose with lots of herbaceous and herbal notes early on (Tomato leaf, fennel). Blackberry and some raspberry fruit eventually show. Secondary notes of smoke and much later touch of chocolate. Palette is medium + intensity, and medium + tanins and alc. Body is medium. Acidity is medium ++ to high, and flavor is much sweeter fruit than the nose. Overall not well integrated IMO. This is much heralded (or should we say hyped and well marketed) as being the “master of Del Duero” passion project to protect and revitalize the old vines of the region - and available at a price that mere mortals can reach compared to his main wine. I am not really sold. In time it does open up with a decent nose our reward. But acidity and the lack of balance is jarring for me. Perhaps the professionals can sense something in it’s future that I am unable to detect. Give it a few more years and we will see if the current overpowering acidity and fairly bland fruit turns into a lovely complex old vine wine, making it a smart prescient fab value buy. Perhaps……
Decanted an hour and a half. Medium dark red color. First wine before dinner. Nice extraction, very smooth texture and medium long finish. Can easily drink this buy itself. Wife and house guests loved the wine. A real crowd pleaser. Excellent QPR. Have many more to enjoy in the future.

I have to echo Matt Scott's comments on this wine below (he is always on point, in many regions/varietals. IMHO) There's a lot to appreciate in the glass and for the price of entry ($25 USD) I'm not sure what else you could hope for here. It totally blew my expectations away. A very solid Ribera del Duero with power and elegance, and great balance too. With blueberry crunch, strawberries, and soy sauce rounding it out. A few specialty sushi rolls sounds awesome right about now! Open this, enjoy some tapas, stare at the stars, or into your significant other's eyes. Life is good. You can very easily do much much worse in this range. I loved it. Cheers!

Not my style. Nose is very blackberry with floral accents. Palate is concentrated and the wine has a nice mouthfeel, even at this young age. However, blackberry notes dominates, with hints of cassis, to the point of being off putting at least to me.

As mentioned in pro reviews this comes from a new facility and no doubt that has improved the quality. It’s a cleaner wine with better purity of fruit and less animal funk than prior years. Dense and dark fruited with chalky earth, violets and plenty of acidity. Needs time but more approachable now than say the 2016. Still one of the best values in the retail wine world.

Deep purple color with a muted nose of blackberry and vanillin. On the palate it is mouth-coating with cassis liquer, vanilla, warm spice and a hint of green pepper. Dusty tannins lead to an astringent finish of dark fruit and wood spice. Bold and brash at this time...curious to see what age will do given the tasting notes of others.

All of the previous rating are true. QPR is amazing. Decanted two hours then drank over the next hour and a half. Lots of red fruits. Dark color. Extraction is excellent. Full mouth feel. Had this with pizza but could stand up to any food you make. I can't wait to enjoy this wine over the next few years as I'm sure it will improve. Nice flavor layers. Go buy some. It's great.

Opened for 2 hours. Color is deep ruby with purple core. On the nose: plum, cassis, vanilla, black berries. On the palate: Plum, espresso, cassis, tar, red berries and baking spices. Very smooth and elegant. This is my 4th bottle of this vintage. I’ve swung from it’s good to it’s great. Need to give it time to breathe. The value for money on this wine is off the charts. I will see if local wine store has more on the weekend. If they do I will stock up.
The last and best wine of the night at our 17th Virtual Wine tasting was this Spanish gem from a famous winery. It is predominantly Tempranillo but they added some Garnacha to the blend. It is a rich purple color that is nearly opaque in the glass. The tasters noted Oregano, funk, pepper, earth, dried plum, green olives, white pepper and a minerality from slate on the nose. The palate gave us that stone hint, coffee, tobacco, black tea, blackcurrant, black cherry, dried fig and blueberry. I noted the wine was quite acidic and others mentioned it as not being overly tannic. A medium finish was enjoyed by all. I feel this wine has already started to display tertiary notes and will mature nicely over the next few years. It is not a blockbuster but we all thoroughly enjoyed it. It gets 91 points from me which jibes with the pros and at $30, its a decent drop that's a 5 star effort in my books.
Opened 1.5 hours. Color is deep ruby. On the nose: Red and black berries, plums and vanilla. On the palate: First impression is massive fruit (not jammy though) and drying tannins. The fruits are blackberries and plums. Not very long on the finish which is a bit disappointing after the great start. Easy to drink. Nice wine. First time I’ve had. I’ve had Pingus (once) and Flor de Pingus (Maybe 6X) and they are fabulous. This is a nice weekday wine. I like and think I need to try a few more bottles and vintages. While this is nice and fairly priced , for the fruit I would prefer one of the better Ridge Zinfandels, but that being said this has promise of a real wine at a decent price which I am also on the hunt for.

I have to say I am impressed, I am usually not a fan of wines from Ribera del Duero due to their lack of freshness and overall balance. This wine from the same owner as Pingus, Peter Sisseck, started this project with local growers. He only selected those who in general worked biodynamically and hence was after the quality and not quantity (which is what Ribera del Duero) tends to be about. The nose is full of dark bramble, dark plum, cherry, vanilla, dill, and black pepper. The palate is medium-full bodied and bright with a wonderful core of dark plumpy fruit and spice, the tannins are fine and focused, there is great elegance and balance in the mid-palate. The finish is medium and slightly spicy. What I appreciate though is the initial freshness on the wine, which is difficult to achieve. My only Spanish wine of the year so far...

Chalky and dry as hell. It's a mix of dark fruit and spices with a handful of black pepper. It's probably Tempranillo and Garnacha but it tastes more like a medium-bodied Syrah. It was very hearty and robust but with a limited range of flavors. I usually love the big reds from Ribera del Duero, but this was my first exposure to Psi wines and unfortunately I didn't find the experience to be very positive.

Opened thin and old worldish. Moved into creamy blackberries after an hour. Paired well with food, especially Vburger and bbq sauce. Straddles the traditional/modern line, but ultimately I think it's a big, modern wine.

Was very excited to try this (Psi in general) having once tasted Flor de Pingus at a tasting with Peter Sisseck some ~10 years ago (wow, what a wine THAT was). This seemed quite hard work at the moment. A bit of a beast, with lots of tannins and a somewhat impenetrable nature to me. Didn't really open up over 3 days either. Uncohesive right now, so no score, but it may be very good with age. Hard to tell. Oh well.

Pop and poured which at first wine was closed, not aromatic, and a tight and tart. After a few hours, returned to show some earthy notes around dried berries, ground cardamom, and clove. On the palate shows good structure and acidity and muted flavors of berry, pepper, and cured meats. Lovely but decant several hours before.

Serious. Finished on day two, this revealed so much. The texture is excellent, with crushed velvet, starch and a luscious middle. Long and a strong reminder of the solid fruit. Ripe plum, bramble berry, soy sauce and sweet red spice. Full-bodied, with staying power and as a cellar-friendly wonder, I would stock up. On day two, this is still hidden and coaxing is required. 2018 represents the best yet; in a double blind tasting, I could easily confuse this for a 2015 Saint Emilion. Drink 2022 - 2032.

Nose bursting with treacly bramble fruit: blackberries, blueberry pie, plum syrup, roast cherries; vanilla and dried herbs and sweet spices. On the palate, the fruit turns fresh and tart in old world fashion. Nice acid to balance the high Ribera ripeness/alcohol.
Should be drinking beautifully in a few more years; consider giving it time if you have it.

Lighter on its feet than I'd expected, yet at least a few years away from really shining, this is a fascinating wine. Subtle notes of red plum, blackberry, and roasted tomato coalesce on a lithe frame, with fresh acidity and a hint of tar and tannin on the finish.

Release in Swe today. Drank to moose.

Very good red fruit, nice nose. Something going on that was different, and pleasant. Some type of earthy note. Paid $29 and would buy again. Good QPR.

A non wood influenced wine from Pingus. Such an interesting take on tempranillo. It's light and minerally with good acidity and bright fruit.
Great value.
