Was going to decant, but tasted first and decided not to. Glad I didn't. The wine was best upfront and did not get much better over the night. Dominant flavor is prune with some black cherry and black currant notes. At first I would have given a 91-92 but the wine did not gain complexity and only became more pruny over time. Great QPR and nice entry level Nebbiolo, but still lacks the complexity of an extraordinary wine.

This wine was so tight it took till the 2nd day to really show what it had been hiding! Expressive noise with tainin oh so very present on the finish. Great value and would recommend.

Wonderful nose of black licorice and herbs, kind of a tarragon thing going on. Floral notes, with tar and cherry. Very nice and complex nose. Cherry and medium but very smooth tannins on the palate, very well balanced and complex. A very different wine from my tasting in early 2008. We really enjoyed this Pasta alla Norma (pasta with eggplant and tomato sauce). Will seek this out again.

A little richer than last bottle. Cherry, fresh nose, with good acid, and richer fruit than earlier. Soft tannins at end. Really picking up some body as time passes.

I hear people say that pinot can often be confused with nebbiolo and this is the first wine i have really understood it. If i was blind tasting i would have rushed by all of the subtle nebb factors on this wine( light tar and fennel )for the obvious earthy, light barnyard elegant sweet cherry aromatics. Perhaps what makes this wine confusing is that the cherry is sweeter rather than sour combined with the barnyard. The tannin is also a hint that this is nebbiolo but its still not that aggressive for nebbiolo, but slightly too much for pinot. Flavors are solid, dominated by licourice, rose petal and cherry. Finish is short and structural but showing more tannin than my last experience. 86
drinking much better day two out of a pinot glass...lots of chocolate and spiced cherries...still round and fleshy 88

Right out of the bottle this was astonishingly poor. Spritzy, with lightly oxidized, cheap wine aromas, thin and lifeless. Poured it into a decanter and after 90 minutes many of the off aromas have blown off, leaving a fairly pleasant wine with aromatics of cherries, menthol and licorice. On the palate it's light(+) bodied, with low-intensity flavors of crisp, sweet red berries and licorice. Plenty of food-friendly acidity and some very light, slightly chewy tannins. Unfortunately, the leftovers were tired and oxidized on day two. This is at best a refreshing and quaffable, bistro style nebbiolo. I give it a major pass at $17.

I think folks who mention light and no tannins received off bottles.
Nice bright cherry and strawberry fruit mixed with some nice, mild earth notes. Amazing acidity, this was perfect with a sausage/pasta dish. Would buy again for $17.

Loved the 2004 so was tempted to try the 2005. Initial nose and taste was ackward, light somewhat disjointed and not very nice. Several friends who taste it agreed it wasnt very good. Recorked it and will try again the next day or maybe later to see it some air helps.

Thursday Night 5 for $5 (The Grapevine - Pocatello, ID): Deep ruby red color, moderate aged nose of red fruit, leather, wood, a bit tight. Medium full body, lively acid and high soft tannins. Powerful flavors of cherry, plum. Outstanding grip. Long finish. Round, balanced, great fruit. Not sure how other notes below can claim "very little tannin...", this sucker grabs you!

tasted blind. ruby red color with slightly brown rims, low concentration and medium viscosity. rasberry and lots of strawberries on the nose, with bits of mushroom and oak. full bodied with lots of sour cherry flavors, complemented by spice and dirt flavors. high acidity and medium+ tannins. quite a complex wine. (13.5% alcohol)

Solid and enjoyable Langhe nebbiolo, that is surprisingly open at the moment. Well balanced and pure, but fairly simple. Not a particularly good value.

Pours into the glass with very light color. I expected a slightly astringent high acid bitter wine, but when I put my nose into the glass I found a HUGE nose of strawberry shortcake, flowers, pepper and a just a touch of the funk. The wine starts very quietly and as it progresses over the tongue explodes with red fruit flavors and spice...Varietally this does not remind me much of nebbiolo...sort of a restrained fruit bomb? The acid is wonderfully balanced with the concentration of the wine, with very little tannin to speak of. This wine came off very simple to me which normally results in dissatisfaction, but at the same time this weakness was balanced the fact that this is a very pure and focused wine. It has a finesse that I loved. This really didnt remind me of nebbiolo at all....It was unique and I will give it credit for that. This may not be for some old world nebbiolo fans.

Light ruby red, subtle nose of gummy red fruit, alcohol, vanilla and smoke, more syrah like than nebbiolo, light bodied, mainly a one dimensional palate with hints of cherry, tar, spice and pepper, short hot finish, disappointing

Good entry level Nebbiolo that could actually use a year or two in bottle to soften a bit. Plenty of fruit, acid and firm grippy tannins. Excellent value.

This wine is open for Business!! what a nose for a 10 euro wine!!
roses, tar, violets, cherry, barnyard and a hint of glue. really really attractive nose. The start in the mouth is somewhat modest, but that is fllowed by silky fruit, very fine (but firm) acidity and just a hint of tannins. This wine is ideal with food, but also on its own. I think the acidity may frighten some wine drinkers, bur for me its just a joy. 13,5 % of alcohol and proud to show that alcohol as well.
Finish is moderate.
This is just a GREAT QPR!! will buy some more for sure.
ciao!
Paul
PS: taking QPR into account this is a 95 point wine!!
